pledge
I've been watching it. So far it has been pretty different to the first season, it has lost quite a bit of the thriller aspect as the second case doesn't seem as sinister somehow. However it still has been very enjoyable just in different ways. It has been really great to see a number of Wire actors, as well as Deadwood of course. Rawls in a dress smashing a guy into a urinal was the highlight of the season so far. Having watched the special features for the first season it seems that one of the FBI guys is being played by one of the show's creators.
chalkitdown
Yeah, he's the one that isn't Mario Van Peebles. I've really enjoyed the last two episodes. I watched them back-to-back this evening. Both were excellent. The show is well and truly back to its best, imo. It's a little odd that the season was set-up with William Hurt's story being the main one and then having the storyline just dropped all of a sudden. And now they moved back to the Frobisher stuff again. No bad thing, really. Ted Danson's awesome, and plays a far more interesting character than Hurt does. The end of episode 8 was OMG! A cop-out surely? Apparently Hurt was involved in some contract squabble with FX which is why he hasn't featured lately. I think he's supposed to be in only 9 or 10 episodes, so he'll be back but for how long I wonder...
chalkitdown
Last nights episode was AMAZE. So much backstabbing and fucking-over going on., it's brilliant. It's improved so much since the first few of this season. Very similar to The Wire in that it takes a while to get going, but when it does, it's incredible. These last 6 of 7 episodes have been outstanding. Can't believe the season is over in two weeks. It's flown by.
MattS
I totally agree, I was kind of losing enthusiasm at the start of the season but it's great now. Apparently another season is on the way too!
pledge
It was only with the extended Doug scenes in the latest Flight of the Conchords episode that I realised that it is the same guy who is playing Rick Messer in this It really is building up the tension now. However I'm growing to dislike Ellen and actually like the "bad guys", she just seems like a real moody bitch most of the time.
Isaac
Another cracking episode this week, this show is really ramping up the pace. So under appreciated on here though
chalkitdown
Oh man, that was excellent. The finale next week should be fucking amazing. After what happened in this ep and what will happen next week based on the flashforwards we've seen all season, the third series is gonna be very different indeed. Can't wait. pledge
Well the finale was certainly entertaining. I did not expect that ending at all. With (almost?) all the episodes starting showing the shooting I should have realised that we were being misled in true Damages style. The last 20 minutes was just one twist after another, with a couple which were a bit of a stretch. Shame Purcell pleaded guilty to a murder he didn't really commit. chalkitdown
Yeah, I thought it was hugely entertaining. You have to wonder where it goes from here, though? They pretty much wrapped up the past two seasons worth of storylines in that episode. If I didn't already know a third season was on the way, I would have thought that was the very final episode of the show.
ca18s13
^ I know as everything seems to be explained more or less. Bit of a bump but having just watched season 1 and season 2 in 1 go ive really enjoyed it. Nice to see something fresh. I like how the episodes jump back and forth ( but still makes sense). Anyone know when season 3 is due to air?
Marzipan Travolta
Season 3 is going to start in January. Anyway, just about done with season one. Fantastic television. I suck for having let it pass me by this long.

barkbat
Just finished season 1. It was brilliant. Kind of like State of Play, but with lawyers in America, and Glen Close. And Rosie Byrne
Capwn
I'm a big fan of Gervais and he often praises both Dexter and this so am tempted to give it a try but I just get the impression every episode is just a courtroom drama somehow. Does this have a series arc or is it just different cases every episode? The forward/backward thing suggests arcs.

Every series is just one courtroom case, it's absolutely the opposite of a courtroom drama with a different case every episode. It's mainly about gathering evidence, and getting ready for trial, there is relatively little time spent in the show in a courtroom. In fact, there isn't a single episode set primarily in the courtroom. It is also fantastic.

I find for some reason that shows that reset every episode don't do anything for me. All the shows I enjoy always have an arc (Breaking Bad, Dexter, Lost and 24). I gave up with House for this very reason.
FishyFish
Yeah, it's more suspense / thriller than coutroom drama.

barkbat
It is not a courtroom drama at all. It is the story of a graduate lawyer being employed and corrupted by an alien queen.
Luke
Anyone know when Season 3 starts in the US? google is being no help to me at all, with dates ranging from January to April.
Marzipan Travolta
It starts on January 25th, Here's the promo!
Luke
Excellent. I can just about wait that long. I'm resisting watching the promo as I like to avoid anything even approaching a spoiler. I like to approach TV programs knowing as little as possible about what is going to happen, though that is increasingly difficult in this day and age. Luke
Have the new episode (via iTunes US season pass), but not sure when I'll be able to watch it. I'm currently in the middle of a LOST marathon, trying to re-watch all episodes before the final season starts. Currently half way through season 3, and on target to finish 3 days late. I could still pull it back to finish on time, but could do without Damages getting in my way. Though, on the other hand, Damages is better. MattS
Is no one watching the new series except Pledge?! I couldn't recommend it enough; it takes about 20 minutes of the first episode to hook you in. I think it's the best opening of any season so far. Rex Grossman
I'm watching. I saw season 1 in a weekend, season 2 the following weekend. It's an adjustment to watch the show weekly now. Lundy! Wild Bill!

I think it's the best opening of any season so far. The only thing that feels a bit off is it seems to be getting into a bit of a cycle with Patty and Ellen. Just seems a bit implausible (even in the context of everything else that is going on!). Took a bit longer than 20 minutes for me. The second episode when it is revealed that Tom lost money on the dodgy investments was the twist that pulled me in.
