Datsyuk does seems to have clicked with Bertuzzi of late. The big plus for me though is the emergence of Darren Helm, the confidence is flowing at the moment, hoping he isn't shifted back to the AHL when we are at full strength, he has earned a place in the 1st 4 lines.

The bertuzzi signing really shocked me at the start of the year, but it's good to see them not only clicking, but bertuzzi picking up a few points here and there. i used to love Bertuzzi before the incident we shall not speak of :D

You would like to think that Helm will stay up in the NHL, god knows he deserves it. Your Red Wings are crippled with injuries at the minute, which is a shame because they were always great to watch. I'm a maple leafs fan, and needless to say, apart from our duffing of your red wings  and our win over pittsburgh last week there is not much for us to be cheering about.

To make it worse, we could be in the lottery for the draft this year, but boston have two of our first round picks!!! DAMMMMM... Watch for brian burke to trade kaberle for a first round pick approaching the draft. you heard it here first!

Do you guys find it hard to keep up? There seems to be games on every single night. Is there a regular playing pattern to make it easy to follow a team, or could they literally play any night of the week? And do players play in every game or are they rotated like in Baseball?

www.puckpodcast.com......Fantastic way to keep up to date. Two guys who know and love the sport making an in depth podcast of a very high quality. They cover goals, hits fight, trasactions and any big news in hockey. It's great and i can't vouch for it enough. if you don't have sky you can normally find streams of games on www.stream2watch.com or www.ustream.com. Pick a team and try to keep up to date on them.....if you still have more time, you can always watch the highlights from around the league on the NHL website.

I know there are many Wings fans who are still to be won over by Bertuzzi because of that. However he is getting there.

Crippled isn't the word for it. Was literally getting to a point where I was expecting injuries from every game. Shows the depth we have in all fairness though. We are still in the hunt for the playoffs despite the issues this season.

I was gutted when you fucked us over, was the night I decided I wanted Osgood replaced long term. Was especially gutting as it was the induction of my favourite all time player to the HoF.

haha it was one of my only high points of the season when we fucked you guys over  The depth you guys have is great, and it's a credit to the scouting and drafting staff. You have some good guys buried in the farm teams. Another team which has been getting more depth as of late is the LA Kings.

I have to agree that it's time to shift osgood on, but getting anyone to take him with that monsterous salary would definately be a problem, as would burying it in the minors. Someone like martin biron would be a decent signing. That would still leave the islanders with Roloson and Di Pietro as a goalie tandam. Not Bad.

Couldnt believe it when Roloson stopped FIFTY-EIGHT shots. FIFTY-EIGHT to beat the maple leafs. Grabovski is out for us now which is a problem. I do believe that Gustavvson is our goalie of the future. Looking forward to Nazim Kadri being brought up, perhaps next year. he has played really well at the world juniors in canada which has been on eurosport! Yay!

What is going on with phoenix? Colorado? BUFFALO? It's been a great season this year and has been so amazingly exciting from the start that it really takes the sting from the pain that is the maple leafs.

Check out the puckpodcast man.....as a man who knows his stuff i'm sure you'll get as much out of it as i do :D

We have one Miller, I wouldn't mind the other

I also wouldn't say no to TY Conklin again, shame we had to move him on. I miss Hasek :(

I get frustrated looking at the conference tables. If we were in the Eastern Conference we would be easily in a playoff place as it stands :D

I forgot about the World Juniors being on Eurosport. What's left of it?

The third place playoffs are on tonight, and then the final tomorrow night i believe. I can't blame you for missing hasek. Legendary keeper. hall of famer, no doubt. Conklin is having a great season this year, but i don't know if he is a bonafide number one keeper. time will tell!

If it wasn't for Howard stepping in then I would of said, we desperately needed Conklin to stay. Luckily Howard is stepping up to the plate.

Agree. Zetterberg was the icing on the cake really :(

Valtteri Filppula is amazing - great to have him back.

Making for an interesting season anyway!

However, now I am really rating;

Maltby, Howard, Eaves, Helm (amazing breakaway goal ) and Stuart is phenominal.

I won't be watching the game until tomorrow night, so I best keep out of this thread until then. Cleary is damn good too. I want Ericsson back though - he was a sterling defenseman.

I am just glad Rafalski wasn't out for long.

Add Abdelkader to that list, and Miller. We just need a run of luck and we'll be OK :(

Watching Canucks vs Blue Jackets on telly at the moment and it's insane! I've never really been into watching sports, like football or whatever, but since I've been in Canada, I've got WELL into the hockey and have watched most of the Canucks games. Hopefully going to see the them at GM Place on Monday, can't wait!

Well my maple leafs got a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of the flyers. It is a BAD TIME to be a maple leafs fan. I'm really curious as to just how confident brian burke is. Don't get me wrong, you'd be a fool to think he didn't know what he was doing, but i'm just wondering why things are'nt clicking.

To be honest i'm just not convinced our depth players are good enough, yes hagman is great, yes orr is a great enforcer who has thrown a few points in, but ponikarovsky, kulimen and stajan just aren't getting it done. Come to think of it neither is phil kessel. I blame that on the line he is on though. He needs a good set-up man. I said before, but when kessel was in boston he played with marc savard who is arguably the best setup man in the game.

Detroit have drafted well and have been rewarded through times of injury because of it. Toronto's drafting must have been shite. We have bugger all (apart from the relatively NHL untested Nazim Kadri) buried down in the minors.

Rant oveeerrrrr

Feel for you pal.

We're (Wings) totally plagued with injuries right now. We desperately need to win some games to even get to the playoffs this year. At least it's reasonably interesting - i.e. not just winning ever game (yeh right)

That's all well and good because your in the race. wer're ten points behind montreal. one thing you have seen is that the red wings as an organization have quite a lot of depth. some of your players brought up from the AHL/Minor leagues have peerformed well. I have to agree it's certainly better than winning all the time! My biggest worry is that if we keep playing the way we are playing we would be in contention for a very early draft pick. I said it earlier in this thread, but boston has two of our first round picks :( we could have had two picks!

Rebuild my ass!

Even though the Bruins haven't been too hot this season, you lot are beginning to find out why Boston didn't fight all that hard to keep him.

Mmmm i don't know about that. The rumors have it that kessel tied boston's hands. He was becoming a restricted free agent this summer which means that they figured it would be better to get something (draft picks in this instance) for him than get a standard offer sheet. When the bruins let kessel go, they were riding a little close to the cap, so this gives them breathing room under the cap and to first round draft picks. Brilliant move by the bruins organization. Brilliant.
