Coolies, what about this Heroes Origins thing i heard, or has that been and gone?

Indefinatly delayed due to writers strike.

I have seen one news story that suggested that they might leave Season 3 until it's "proper" start date in 2008, but do a couple of "specials" early/mid next year if the WGA goes on much longer.

Does anyone know what was reshot/shot/changed at the end of episode 11?

RE: Adam

Shirely that's not going to stop Adam. He could just hammer away at the coffin until he gets through it. It looked like it was metal, but even still, given enough time he could get through that.

I mean, a hand isn't that effective against metal, but having ever regenerating nails/fists would get through that eventually

But, what a bitch it would be!

Just noticed the change in subtitle-is series two finished?!

I've just finished watching series 1 on bbc 2, but i'm off traveling for pretty much all of next year so will miss series 2 on tv.

Basically, shall I download and watch all of series 2, or has it not finshed?

11 episodes. Cut short due to a writers strike. It's affected lots of shows.

Wowzers. I knew the writers strike was bad, but surely it's halved the length of the series? I heard it's pretty ropey in places but if it's been cut short does that mean it's utter rubbish and wraps up too quickly?

They say that Season 2 was supposed to basically be 2 parts anyway, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. So they lopped off Chapter 3 and just have Chapter 2.

Well not really as there was no one to write the other half of the season. Or would you prefer they just filmed any old trash and threw that out?

No one? There was no one at all to write anything? I know the writer's strike was complex but if they had a season planned out I refuse to believe that, for example, Tim Kring would refuse to work on his own series.

Besides, who's to say that it had to just stop? Why not have a mid season break (though I confess to not understanding midseason breaks in the Us-I think they all occur at a set date).

But still, unless the short run was planned from the beginning it seems like a cop-out.

Still, it suits me this way-I've just seen series 1, can watch series '2' now and watch series '3' when I get back from traveling next year.

And Sean, not seen Lost series 3 then? The last episode was at least 6 times more exciting than the Lost series 1 ending, and the Heroes was superb.

Tim Kring is just one guy and doesnt sit down with a pen each week and write out entire episodes. It takes teams of writers to write entire series week to week and because he respects his series he has put the brakes on it rather than just push out any old crap.

Would you really have wanted the second season of Heroes to be of the same quality as S2 of Star Trek TNG from the last writers strike. Thats the sort of quality you would have been getting.

Aye, processes to follow and all that

Kind of disappointed with how wishy-washy the series has been in a way and yet utterly amazed at the same time. I've been watching the first season too and it's amazing how much stuff has been left behind moving into S2.

They shot their load way to early with Peter I reckon, all those powers and nothing to do in S2; capable of so much yet achieved so little... time travel, invisibility and so on.

The writers strike has been good in a way, time to sort some shit out... but then nobody is writing so maybe it just delays the more crap until later :)

At least Sylar is back to cause some grief. The bad to counter the good one.

Believe it Blinky:

It looks like the rumors that Tim Kring had left Heroes were, as rumors tend to be, grossly exaggerated. While Tim is supporting the writers strike and walking the picket lines, he hasn’t quit the show.

From here.

Some writers possibly could continue with it if they didn't mind their careers being ended by doing so. Who is going to do that?

As for mid-season break, this strike could last for over half a year, so it's a bit more than a break.

Finishing the season wasn't planned from the start. It was going to be Chapter 2 > mid season break > Chapter 3. So nothing really changed, just that the break will probably be longer than it should be with no end determined, so they decided to call it a season end rather than a mid-season break.

I read an interview with Tim Kring where he apologised for how poor the series was becoming he promised to listen to the fans and do something about it. Next thing we know the series has a huge jump in quality (just look at the past 3 weeks) and is back on track.

He mentioned how he regretted Hiro's time in Japan and that it should only have lasted for a couple of episodes at best as well as how disappointed he was in the the whole Peter/Ireland storyline.

I'm pretty sure they weren't even going to have a mid-season break this year, due to the number of viewers dipping after last year's one.

I'm sure it was the whole last scene involving Matt, Nathan and Peter that was reshot, from when they decided to stage a news conference in that valut to the conference itself. It was a bit jarring.

Also I think it could've been Peter who shot him, coming back from the future after seeing what happened after the news was let out out the Heroes' powers. So he went back, told his mum everything and got the go ahead to kill Nathan (probably knowing his blood could revive him).

They definitely were planning on a mid-season break. They were going to fill in the break with Heroes: Origins though, in which they show a new hero each week and then viewers can vote which one will join the season after the break. That's been cancelled now though and I'm glad it has, it sounded like a terrible idea.

No, Origins was to be shown at the end of season 2:

The plan had been for Heroes to air its 24 episode second season into April, taking only minimal breaks as needed for holiday weeks and such. Origins was then going to begin in mid-April and air its six episode season through the end of the May sweeps period. With Origins no longer going forward, clearly Heroes will now be forced to have more weeks off, in order for NBC to program it through the end of the TV season in May. Of course, that's only if a strike does not occur - If it does, this season of Heroes will be severely truncated, along with all other scripted TV.

What exactly do the writers do then for 6 months? walk up and down protesting? Do they actually get paid still or what? What happens if they just all get sacked!

Surely at some point there has to be some kind of deal sorted out - i would have thought whoever is paying these guys would realise the amount of money they are losing at the moment, they might as well pay em more now.

They don't write any new stuff, so don't get paid for that.

I believe they do still get Royalties for any repeats/DVD sales etc...

The people that are really loosing out are Set/Wardrobe/Make-Up etc who can do nothing to make money.

Heroes Season 2 has to go down as one of the worst tv series I have ever endured. Not 100% crap but a good 75% at least. Shocking.

For anyone reading this thread that has yet to watch season 2 but has watched season 1, I am honestly not exaggerating when I say you could literally bypass this whole season and wait for season 3. It's that much of a non event.
