Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii)

Seems to have been ignored amongst all the TGS hype, at least I can't find a thread on it or any mention in the Odin Sphere thread. Anyway, new game from the team behind Odin Sphere, Grim Grimoire and Princess Crown, and it looks pretty similar to OS i.e. lovely.

Not much info yet it seems but theres a few screens at Gamespot, and some scans below:

.::: Action-RPG... Which might mean Metroidvania goodness! (Although I'm not suspecting any labyrinthian platforming.)

No, it'll be circular stages again. I've watched the trailer a few times, and it just looks like a more action-y Odin Sphere. If they sort the slowdown and the item-swap issues, it'll be fucking marvellous.

I think it's likely they cut the swap-issues. The swapping at all in fact, as it isn't a part of the trailer. Besides, it's for Wii. Everything has to be short and hack-slash-hack-slashy!

Sorry.

Should add real quick now it looks absolutely amazing.

.::: I don't mind. Anything that tries to reclaim the lost age of 2D is fine in my book.

.::: BUMP^2! Rising Star posted a smallish (literally) vid of Muramasa on their blog:

http://risingstargames.blogspot.com/2009/0...e-on-playr.html

Seems the Wii might be getting some juice after all!

So the guy said "very, very, very early footage" - implying it's a long way from being ready.

Despite the OP being over 1 year ago... :( Blimey these new fangled 2D games take a long time to make

.::: He mentions at the end that it'll be released Q4 2009 at its earliest, Q1 2010 is more likely.

Famitsu review:

Oboro Muramasa 9/9/8/8

- Single player mode 10~12 hours

- two players about 30 hours (i assume playing as both players it means)

- Great graphics and sound

- very even difficulty

- short loading times

- no real story climax

I think rising star has a 2010 euro release for this.
