The movie began shooting on June 2nd in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While details of the movie's plot a closely-guarded secret,

expect a key character from the first movie to make a dramatic comeback and attempt to settle a score.

That'll be Bernie Mac showing up saying "I was the best thing in that piece of shit" then.

I got quite excited when I saw the title, but then understood (quite obviously really) that its got nothing to do with The Fallen character from the Dreamwave comics.

Still haven't seen the first film yet, despite being as big a TF fan as they come. I'll get round to it soon, there are so many reasons why I thought I should give it a miss though, and I still reckon I'll end up disappointed. Ever the optimist, eh.

Also, I'm sure I saw those Prowl shots as screens from the first film...

Sorry to be another crank in this thread but Jesus the first film was woeful. Dull and irritating with an awful overlong plot, irritating and unnecessary characters. Not flaming or picking fights but if I meet people who liked it I genuinely think they're a bit soft. Bay needs to direct something decent soon - there's a lot of clunkers in his recent output, The Island, Bad Boys 2, Transformers.

It doesn't hurt or anything, it's just hilarious how awful it is.

I enjoyed the fuck out of it, but then again i'm not a big Transformers fan or anything.

Anyway, Revenge of the Fallen is a rubbish title, obvs.

A report on a couple of rumoured scenes and new characters has appeared online. It could be a total lie but if true is heavy on the spoilers.

The opening of Transformers 2 takes place at a Steel Factory in Shanghai, China (filmed in Bethlehem, PA), where the Autobots, the British SAS (Matthew Marsden as “Graham” and Andrew Howard) and Captain Lennox’s Military team (Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson) are chasing after a Decepticon Audi RS8. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are not featured in the opening chase sequence.

The autobots include a pair of robots called The Twins, which join together to form an Ice Cream Truck (pictured right). An ice cream truck is a great disguise for a transformer as no one would suspect. I’m guessing that one of the twins is white and the other is pink (but this is just a guess). This appears the be the coolest new addition to the autobot line-up. There’s one sequence where the Twins are speeding down a Shanghai street and split apart around a group of chinese children in the street, which should be pretty cool looking. At another point the truck crashes and the Twins split in two and have a brotherly fight. Yes, it looks like the comic tone of the original film is back.

Also involved in the chase is a hot pink ninja style motorcycle with black highlights which turns into Arcee , a go-cart named Wheels / Wheelbot and Stinger (possibly a Porsche). Lennox’s team meets up with Ironhide on a Shanghai Street. I’m not sure exactly what happens but it appears that the Deception R8 escapes. All in all it seems like a pretty bad ass chase sequence.

The production has now moved to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum for a scene which takes place late into the film (I’m guessing about an hour into the film). Bumblebee and The Twins are left in the parking lot as Sam (Shia), Mikaela (Fox), Sam’s college roommate/friend Leo (a new supporting character played by The Wire’s Ramon Rodriguez), and Sector 7 Agent Simmons (John Turturro) distract the guards and sneak into the Smithsonian after hours. Simmons uses a radiation tracker (a call back to the first film) to find a SR-71 Blackbird in the museum.

Sam uses something called the “Splinter” (maybe a tiny piece of the alspark?) to activate the SR-71, which transforms into Jetfire. Jetfire as a Blackbird spy plane? Very Cool. For some reason he has a Decepticon logo, not sure why. Maybe he switched sides?

The involvement of a Constructicon Earth Mover pretty much confirms the rumor that the Constructicons and Devastator might appear in the film.

It still kind of hurts me.

Glad to see theres still some sense about.

The first one was enjoyable the very first time you watch it. However, the enjoyability of it is waifer thin, and a second helping reveals the true shit beneath the surface.

If you watch it a third time, God help you.

Revenge of the Fallen? Perhaps Return of the Hack (It is! Come on! Oh my Gawd!) would be more appropriate.

Revenge Of Shia Lebouf Running Around And Shouting 'NONONONONONONONO!' Every Five Minutes And Being Shit At Everything, more like.

Get out! The A10 and AC-130 scene was awesome. Plus I advise anyone watching this film to do so in HD. The difference is incredible. Everything that looked blurry in the cinema was suddenly in focus and easy to follow.

o/\o

I left the pictures feeling like I'd just wasted a the money/time being there. Bought it when it was released (or was given it to watch, can't recall which) and actually managed to watch it, you know? It's a good film.

I'm certainly interested in the sequel!

It's a great fan-pleasing popcorn movie and nothing more.

People sometimes expect Citizen Kane all the fucking time.

Bullshit. A bad film is a bad film. Fan-pleasing popcorn is not usually boring. A film made by an idiot (listen to a Bay commentary track) for idiots.

You state that 'a bad film is a bad film' - yet you also state that it's dull, overly long and irritating; which are clearly subjective issues that you have with it. Maybe the fact that not everyone finds it dull, overly long or irritating means that it's not actually that bad.

As I said earlier, I enjoyed it. Maybe I'm a bit soft. Or an idiot.

Or possibly both? ;)

Personally, I thought the movie was fantastic. I respect that everyone has an opinion, but I don't feel the need to feel validated or pay attention to anyone who disliked it.

Of course, I'm hoping that the movie title does not refer to the Dreamwave character of the same name. I liked the concept of a fallen angel, but he came across as a two dimensional villain that suffered from DW's need to repeatedly produce a world shattering story in six installments.
