Super Street Fighter IV (3DS/PS3/X360)

This will have to be the most beautiful 2D fighting game ever. I don't want to see any attempt at using 3D cell shaded stuff.

Actually, hold on - maybe they should break from the mould - make it like Burnout Revenge and a bit of Fable - you create your own characters, choose a fighting style then travel around the world, looking to challenge people or save people out of sticky situations with your superior fighting skills. Every fight moulds your player in some way - you would get visible scars and so on.

;)

Until I see some game footage, I don't care. If they've left it this long just to unleash something marginally better than Third Strike, they can fuck off.

Given that Third Strike is pretty much 2D fighting heaven as it is (imo), I'd be tremendously fucking happy if they make something even marginally better than it.

If that's really all they've got in mind, two things bother me:

Why wait so long to make a game they could've made 5 years ago? And why did they think they could get away with hyping it up, only to reveal "we're making it - that is all".

Yeah, cheers for that. ;)

I'm not saying it's going to be shit, or that I won't care when we finally see somethinf of it, only that my anticipation's been tempered by a shitty reveal that couldn't have been more disappointing if they'd revealed another Megaman game.

yeah yeah and make it for the wii. Then if you push the wii forward it does a fireball. If you swing it around in a circle you do a hurricane kick, Raise it up quickly to do a dragonpunch!

BRING IT ON!

BAN REQUEST!

Aesthetically, it probably won't have anything to do with the game itself/the gamplay (what was all that ink-stuff about?),

Looks like Capcom have been watching Clover Studios very closely. ;) Regardless of whether the final game will look like that, the aesthetic is beautiful in that teaser trailer, and it suits the game's logo.

I agree with the "watching Clover" comment above. I wonder if Capcom have the technical director from there. Also thinking there might be some ex-SNK types involved now that they seem to have effectively died and the rivalry cooled.

If they continue that style into the actual game I'd be very curious to see which machines it ends up on. As it is it's blatantly heavily post-processed 3D, which would be quite an exercise to do well. (Guessing that someone probably spent a damn long time manually doing much of post-render reworking here, as is par for the course for pre-renders).

Still, best trailer for a fighting game I've seen in absolutely years, possibly ever.
