.::: Are you guys mad? Just look at the shaders at work here! In motion with the hit-explosions exchanged with the 'ink' this is going to be astounding! (And Ryu is just an evolution of the SFIII version so quit yapping about that as well.) It's the SF style in 3D-graphics. Spot on.

Are you mad? Almost everyone is saying it looks brilliant?

the "ink" was just part of that trailer - if anywhere it'll be used on finishing moves at most.

Numbers are supposed to be impressive, right? Well, it's been 10 years, two hardware generations, and about seventeen thousand rumors since the last pure number Street Fighter came around. And today we have the first ever official details on Street Fighter IV.

We don't blame you if your eyes have already skipped down to the screenshot lower on the page (yes, that's from the game engine). Take your time. But we've got some information as well, so the rest of this is probably worth reading when you get a chance.

Though the screenshot doesn't answer this question outright, we can confirm that the game's graphics are polygonal but the gameplay is strictly 2D. There will be new moves, locations, and gameplay features, while the standard six button control scheme remains. Ryu and Ken return along with Chun-Li and Dhalsim, but beyond that the character roster is a mystery. And then there's the issue of what platform(s) the game will end up on, which at this point Capcom is keeping close to its chest (if you search 1UP's database, you'll find listings for arcade, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, but those are just guesses based on the graphical quality).

(Screenshot)

For the full reveal of the game -- including hands-on impressions, a rundown of the new gameplay system, and loads of details on new features -- look for the January 2008 issue of EGM in stores soon and hitting subscribers any day now. And then after you check the issue out, keep your eye on 1UP's Street Fighter IV hub page for ongoing coverage continuing into January.

.::: That's what I meant, it needs to be used as SFX. It also makes sense judging by that screenshot; it's overly saturated in colours. Having black ink sprayed around during special moves would enhance their impact.

.::: Oh, carry on then. ;) No wait, there's nothing wrong with the face. :D You're all in love with his Zero look.

Get over yourself. That in game Ryu doesn't look enough like this:

Ryu01.gif

..for my liking. In fact, he doesn't even look Japanese; he looks strangely western.

.::: Maybe he's trying to be more Akuma. Besides his new look was smashing in the trailer anyway.

He looks like a boxer or UFC contender.

That kinda fits with his story. Ryu's development has been towards power over speed; it makes sense that he'd be proper bulked up by now. I wonder if Ken'll be leaner and speedier?

The cover artwork is a bit odd, and I daresay not very good; the eyes are very weird. But the rest of it is 'right.'

It's not only about his physical size though - the art style looks 'chunky'.

Which is why it'll be all the more interesting to see the other characters; I really hope a 'chunky' concept art style doesn't translate to everyone looking all 'roided up onscreen. For Ryu, it works; for the others, maybe not.
