My Dearest Friends and Fans,

It is my greatest honor to present to you The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!,

my new album produced by Trent Reznor and mixed by Alan Moulder. The wall of sound that we've created is tagged with such graffiti that a passerby would seek out doors and ways to ENTER. Once inside a world defined by dreams come true they'd find aligned with the simplest act of sharing what we treasure. Most people aren't aware of the world of art and commerce where exploitation strips each artist down to nigger. Each label, like apartheid, multiplies us by our divide and whips us 'til we conform to lesser figures. What falls between the cracks is a pile of records stacked to the heights of talents hidden from the sun. Yet the energy they put into popularizing smut makes a star of a shiny polished gun. The ballot or the bullet for Mohawk or the mullet is a choice between new times and dying days. And the only way to choose is to jump ship from old truths and trust dolphins as we swim through changing ways. The ways of middlemen proves to be just a passing trend. We need no priests to talk to God. No phone to call her. And when you click the link below, i think it fair that you should know that your purchase will make middlemen much poorer...

NiggyTardust!

love,

Saul

I posted about this a little earlier in another thread, you can buy the download for $5 (about £2.50) at your choice of 192kbps/320kbps MP3 or FLAC, or get it completely for free at 192kbps only. I've sent my money over this evening by Paypal in anticipation of the 1st November, I hope more bands follow suit.

Saul Williams is excellent in his own right, so I'm sure it'll be well worth checking out.

Sorry man. Done a search and only result that came up was buried in a hip-hop thread.

Contributed my $5 so I can get the flac version

Scared Money is my favourite at the moment.

That kinda vocal delivery really strikes a chord with me and the production is truly sublime. And yeah; if people haven't checked out Coded Language from his previous album then they should get on in as soon as possible. That track is like what would have happened if Martin Luther King had had a record deal - fucking epic from start to finish. Really enjoying this new release - I've been a Saul fan for a long time now so it is good to see him reaching more and more people via this method of distribution.

Guest alisdair

Imagine more dancey, less guitar-based, recent-ish Nine Inch Nails, with very simple rhythmic rapping instead of screaming/singing. It's almost spoken word vocals. It's awesome, and it's only $5 to find out if you like it or not.

The opening track is outstanding, but nothing else has really stood out as much as I'd like yet. Despite being a Reznor fan, some of the tracks sound a little like NIN-offcuts musically. Williams' stuff usually takes a little while to grow on me though.

Everyone should download the free version at least, if you're a Nine Inch Nails fan I don't think you'll be too disappointed.

This is cracking stuff actually, musically some of it reminds me more of the stuff Reznor did with Pigface more so than NIN, really percussion heavy with dirty synths and very little melody.

Williams has quite a nice singing voice aswell. Liking 'Break' and 'Banged and Blown Through'

Shall give it a proper listen on my commute next week..

This is starting to grow on me quite a lot. Although I still cannot fathom the reason for the cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday. It isn't a universal song, it is about a very specific incident. Anyways, Trent is quite prolific these days, I wonder if Year Zero Remixed will be worth getting? Back to Saul, the first three tracks are absolutely storming.

It is really quite great. Lyrics and music really complement each other really well. Not everything works that great but it's mostly surprisingly consistent (it starts out great, but the best moments are really at the end). It's musically a lot more interesting than Year Zero.
