I laughed at Shrek 3.

Ok it is a fun film. You'll enjoy it.

Loads of Kung Fu puns, some excellent lines and it looks amazing.

As 75DPI said the five don't really need to be in it, as it Black's movie but it's really enjoyable. Go see it.

Heh - I was already quite up for seeing this - I just REALLY didn't like Shrek 3

Cause lately I have been comparing movies to other good movies and people always seem disappointed - I figured if I yanked up Shrek 3, all your expectations would drop and then when you went to see the film you would rant and rave about how much you enjoyed it.

No idea why they got people like Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan to do voices for characters that have like, two lines each.

Really enjoyed the film though. The 2D opening sequence in particular blew my mind.

They were originally meant to have much bigger parts. A lot was change halfway through production.

Anyway, I really liked it. It was cliched, true, and I find Jack Black to be too obnoxious really, but the action sequences are mind-blowing, and the stereotyped characters are written and acted with respect for those stereotypes, rather than taking the piss too much. It's very shallow and in-your-face, and sometimes that's exactly what I'm looking for. Soooo much better than I thought it would be.

had a screening of this at work. wouldn't have paid to watch it but enjoyed it well enough. A big improvement on previous Dreamworks animated films in my opinion. Still couldn't help wishing it was in 2d all the way through.

Ditto, I loved the 2d bit but the 3d stuff did look gorgeous.

I think the lack of screen time on the ferocious 5, although a bit dissapointing, may give birth to an idea for a sequel. Such as backgrounds on the 5's characters, Po's real parantage and the discovery of 'the secret ingredient'.

Watched this last night and I loved it. Much better than I expected, funny and as some have said it looks gorgeous. The 2D start was fabulous!

I even had a cinema full of 100 foreign students with me and that didn't even spoil the enjoyment.

No doubt a sequel will be made and the plot will be more developed.

Lovejoy doing the voice for the baddie too! :( B)

all I think is that the panda in the film is too fat and his father is a stupid American duck?

and panda shouldn't eat dumpling , fat panda should eat bamboo.

the directors are all idiots

The only thing that's ridiculous here is you bitching about inaccuracies in a children's cartoon about talking animals that do kung fu.

Saw this at the BFI Imax today. Simply awesome. Roll on the sequel.

Although:

Katzenberg also hinted at a potential new franchise based on the bamboo-chewing character.

“I don’t want to put the cart in front of the horse, but there is a large story we have already mapped out that would probably encompass five or six movies if we get to tell them all.”

“We just have to wait to see the success of this.”

Dreamworks is also doing this with the Shrek movies.

Shrek 4 and 5 are on the way in the next 5 years :) .

Talk about milking a franchise bone dry.

I haven't seen it since it came out, though, so maybe it's not as good as I remember. These movies all seem to be about the pop-culture references, celebrity voices and completely lacking in story, ambition, creativity or 'magic' as I like to call it. 9 movies now, and not a single one of them can hold a candle to even Pixars worst.

whilst that's a bit extreme, your sentiment is vaguely correct. having said that, Kung Fu Panda avoids a lot of the things you're indirectly accusing it of. Definitely worth giving a chance if you have an interest in animated movies.

that said, Pixar's worst is Cars and that's a shamelessly commercial sales pitch to young kids and their parents of the worst kind so I think it's worth judging each movie on it's merits rather than the parent studio.

Until now, that is. I'd say this film is the best CGI film I've ever seen.

Kung-Fu Panda has none of the negative things you've mentioned about previous Dreamworks CGI films.

Each Pixar film has a message. Cars was about nostalgia for the American highway. Nothing wrong with that.

All Pixar movies have also made money from merchandising. A Pixar release is practically a licence to print money.

This is easily the best Dreamworks animated film, but I guess that's not saying a lot.

Shame that the best bit of animation was the 2D intro.

The training scene had me in stitches. Hilarious.

And yeah, I had no expectations for this film after seeing the terrible terrible trailer. Pleasantly surprised.

I dunno, its definatly more fun than Shrek. I would say I liked it better than some of Pixars stuff, but most of their stuff is pretty great.

My only problem with Kung Fu Panda is I think the Furious Five needed more screentime. Seriously one or two characters spoke like twice.. but it could make the sequel better for exploring those characters a bit more.
