See this 'augmented edition', can you choose whether you use the stupid make-the-game-easy shit you get with it, ie the credits, unlocking device, mine etc?

I just like the look of the art book, sound track etc and it's only £8 more on shopto (over the explosive pack), but I don't want anything that will make the game easier.

Most games tend to handle this by giving you a code to redeem in the marketplace for extra weapons/armours/suits etc. You could just not enter the code.

From the OPM review:

A curious hybrid: a stealthy shooter with RPG-like exploration and storytelling. It's not as direct as a sci-fi COD, nor as expansive or open as Fallout. Instead, it's somewhere in the middle. [OPM Sept 2011, p.100]

That's exactly how Warren Spector described the concept. "It'll be like a mix of Fallout and some military FPS that's not even out for two years. And you'll wear sunglasses at night, and have a skull-gun."

It's depressing they have to explain it in terms of CoD, but I'm encouraged by that score.

...

The release date for this has totally crept up on me, thought it was coming in September for some reason. I've not looked at any of the various retail editions available. I'll probably be going for the most bog-standard version, it does seem a bit off that they're putting so much game-affecting stuff in the bonus content for specific versions.

Someone tell me I'll be able to move the preload files over to my proper PC once my wireless card arrives for my main PC. PLEASE.

Yes of course you can, that is one of the main advantages of Steam! When I upgraded to my new PC I simply copied over 500GB worth of Steam games to my new HDD and that was it!

First, go into your Steam folder and look for the Deus EX- Human Revolution folder (in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\ or wherever you have installed, with me it's on E:\ instead of C:\ due to space issues) and copy that whole folder (it's called 'deus ex - human revolution', unsurprisingly) over to exactly the same spot in the Steam folder on your other PC. Then copy the .ncf file one folder up (in C:\Steam\steamapps) to exactly the same spot in the Steam folder on your other PC (the file is called deus ex - human revolution english.ncf), this is not strictly necessary but I noticed that it lets Steam see the game data immediately. When I did it once without copying the .ncf files Steam had to start downloading each title before immediately noticing all the files were already there and stopping the download. Since I was unlocking hundreds of games this took a while. Last time, when I had even more games, I also copied over the .ncf files and then then all the games just magically unlocked in my Steam library tab :D

Good luck! :)

Awesome Gerbik, I was just going to copy the steamapps folder from one PC to the other and merge them, but its good to get some precise instructions :D

I'll hopefully have it downloaded by wednesday FINGERS CROSSED. Bring on the adventures.

Uhm yeah that should also totally work... I thought you only wanted to know about that one game! Ah well one can never have too much info, now you know how it works exactly.

I've been staying away from this thread due to not being a big Deus Ex kinda guy and it turning into a PC graphics RAM Steam borefest, but I see this game is getting big ups as being something really special. Is it ?

With it being such a slow summer I've a desperate need to buy a new game but need to calm down with the big releases this winter.

It's old news but just read that you're looking at around 35 hours for a good exploratory playthrough. That's just a few hours short of ME2 (inc. all the rubbish planet-scanning) so I'm looking at a good couple of weeks on this. Fantastic news...

I haven't started it yet and I don't want it to end.

Yawn.

, but I see this game is getting big ups as being something really special. Is it ?

Nah, it's just the Deus Ex 1 Hype Machine over again - people are just getting over-worked up because of the name and the game's actually pretty average. Of course, if you'd bothered to read the thread before people started talking specs (which has of course only happened very recently, due to the imminent release), you'd have found it out from when people were posting their impressions of it.

I'd pass if I were you.

Why the cunty reply ?

I only asked a simple question. Please note I looked through the last 4 pages of the thread and there's barely a mention of the game outside of special editions/ PC techy pish and delivery details.

Prick.

And I gave you my honest appraisal of the game. I'm not entirely sure what you want of me - sure, I put a "yawn" in there, but that was just a reaction to what felt like an unneeded dig on your part. I'm really sorry if I've come across as a bit of a prick - it wasn't intended at all, I was just trying to answer your question.

Boozy has some kind of complex about any hint of PC talk.

And PC owners throw their skirts over their heads and piss themselves if I say anything negative about their preciousses. The last 100 posts in this thread are mostly concerned with PC bullshit that tells me nothing about why I, a poor peasant should buy the game. So I asked and explained my reason for asking but as ever got back the usual reactionary PC defense mode shite.

Perhaps you could try caging your question in slightly less antagonistic terms then. Perhaps -

I've not been keeping up with this thread because I didn't think that this game was going to be my sort of thing, but I see this game is getting big ups as being something really special. Is it ?

Rather than;

I posit that it's actually your Cornflakes that are riddled with piss.
