Deus Ex: Human Revolution

In all fairness to Boozy, the last few pages are rather chock-a-block with dull discussion about CPUs and RAM.

In all fairness to the people in this thread, it's because we've discussed just about everything from the trailers to the gameplay minutia of the leaked Beta (impressions courtesy of the ever growing PC army on this forum) and people are keen not to spend their money on something that won't work well with their systems.

Perhaps if people feel this strongly about it, there ought to be a sub-forum on here somewhere for people to enquire about specs, but it would need to be rigourously moderated. Failing that, you'll just have to train your eyes to recognise the DDRs and the Cores and keep on scrolling - RLLMULK is a fairly encompassing community and people aren't going to abandon their usual forum watering hole for another just to ask a technical question in the thread that already exists.

We've spoken in huge great amounts of detail about the game itself, the release is imminent and people are now cncerned about the functional side of things.

And the coming pages will be full of the dull (I actually enjoy it but anyway) should I get this for the PS3 or 360 and discussion of frame rates and jaggies. So everyone gets their chance at this kind of talk and shock horror some people actually enjoy this aspect the freaks.

How the fuck should we know?

LOL.

That's funny 'cos you know usually you guys know whether a game is going to be amazing or not based on the first nugget of info or peak of screenshot. I figured by now someone would have a pretty good idea.

The first guy with the weird german sounding name I assumed was just being rude because I hadn't read the thread but apparently the game is average at best and not worth bothering with. I figured by now someone would have taken him seriously and argued that it was better than that but no one has so I won't bother with it. Thanks for everything people you've been fucking useless.

I'm not exactly sure what you are expecting from everyone here. At the end of the day the game isn't officially out yet (betas aside) so how can you expect anyone to argue whether it is a worthwhile purchase for you?

In regards to (boring) PC specs I think you are being a little harsh. It's not like we are discussing PC specs in general or requirements for other games. It is a genuine discussion on how well the game will function on a particular platform. Do other console only game threads not have any discussion on graphical qualities at all? If a demo video on Youtube or other place shows choppy framerates does this not get discussed? Perhaps the reason why there is a heavier emphasis towards the PC version of this game is because that is where the series started. Therefore it attracts a lot of PC players.

Not trying to be arsey or anything, but at the end of the day from what I can see this thread has been on topic pretty much the whole time.

And PC owners throw their skirts over their heads and piss themselves if I say anything negative about their preciousses. The last 100 posts in this thread are mostly concerned with PC bullshit that tells me nothing about why I, a poor peasant should buy the game. So I asked and explained my reason for asking but as ever got back the usual reactionary PC defense mode shite.

The game is not out yet. How do you expect us to be able to say if it's any good or not? edit: as has been pointed out above. Why are you surprised there's tech talk going on (with everyone being super friendly and helpful 'til you jumped in) seeing as there's nothing else to talk about?

Are you fucking serious ? No one has any idea or opinion on whether this game is going to be good average or poor. Really ? 60+ pages in, in the few days before release. Aye okay just ...............

I'm sorry but just fuck off.

I don't understand why people are being so needlessly obtuse and arsey with Boozy about whether the game is any good or not.

Long story short - A 10 hour chunk of the game leaked a while ago, long-term Deus Ex fans loved it and said that if the rest of the game maintained the standard then it would be a worthy sequel. Some early magazine reviews have come out, all have been positive. Internet embargo goes up at 5pm today.

Not hard, was it?

Well....out of 60 pages are you not able to glean an indication for yourself?

Here is my opinion on a game that has not been released yet:

It is worth buying if you were a fan of the original. I say this because even if the game is only average that continuation of the original story (even though it is a prequel) will carry some extra atmosphere for loyal fans.

There you are. Feel free to buy on launch, wait for a sale or pre-order at Greenman Gaming with the redeemable voucher posted earlier to get a fiver off. Or, if you prefer to play this on a console feel free to pre-order from Shopto (or other online retailer) to ensure your copy on launch day.

Failing that, hang around for a few days for some reviews to be posted (or opinions from the people here after hands on experience) and make an informed decision then.

So you reckon it'll be amazing then ?

See that's all I was looking for. If anyone else wants to get off their high horse and offer examples of what I can expect from this game that would be sweet.

Postscript :

Just to clarify I along with many of you have endured a long dry summer where I haven't bought a new game on release day since Dirt 3 (May 24th) I've got the fucking shakes man, so when the supposed next big thing which is due to break the drought comes along I'm enquiring about it because I've been keeping my eye on other prizes.

However I badly need that new game hit and am willing to get Deus Ex if you guys could have broken down the thread and posted some sweet impressions and maybe have offered some idea of the experience the game offered.

I read back through the last few pages and found them stuffed full of PC tech questions and other info I wasn't particularly interested in so I posted a question and threw in a wee PC dig as is my rights under the law of free speech and personal expression.

Well you can see where that lead.

Rllmuk 2nd cuntiest forum on the interweb you have kept up your reputation as ever.

Cheers.

Fair enough in regards to being free to post what you want - that obviously goes for everyone else who may or may not agree with your opinions. Hopefully the video posted above helps, I have personally stayed away from some of the hype and build up over the last few months. That video has really got me excited about it. I liked how it demonstrated the differing approaches that you could take. I suppose this kind of multi approach isn't anything especially novel these days, but it does remind me how amazed I was when I had such choices in the original game.

Just out of interest which gets the number one spot for cuntiest forum?

So who's going to give it the controversial low score later on then? There's always one.

Well, presumably Demonoid will be giving it Jim Sterling/10.

In other news, yes, Human Revolution is looking bloody good.

For a newbie, how impenetrable is the premise and fiction going to be? I've never played the first two (Actually, I think I've back-seat-gamered the second one, but remember nothing) - I might quite fancy this, and hadn't realised it was so imminent.

I played the original (but never completed it for some reason) and money needs to be conserved for 'Rape Your Bank Oct/Nov' and the deluge of games then, so this, or Dead Island next month? They both look similar-ish but having a hard time choosing.

It shouldn't be an issue - for one thing, this is a prequel, so nothing you learn in the first games should be necessary to understand or enjoy it. You'll just miss out (presumably) on foreshadowing and fanservice.

What's the best way for me to go about playing the first game these days? I think back when it originally came out I pissed about on a pier, drank a 'forty' or three and staggered up the Statue of Liberty attacking anyone who got in my way, so I was in no state to play the game by the time I got home.

I know there was a PS2 version or something; is there a backwards-compatible xbox version? I don't have a PC, but I do have access to a mac book pro.

I can tell you how well it'll run on a 360 or PS3.

Not as good as on a PC.
