I've only ever had one issue with them, when they inadvertently took more orders for Welcome to the Dungeon than they had copies in stock. I got an email apologising and asking if I wanted to hold the order open for when the next print run came into stock (which I did, even though it might be a while). It turned up on my doorstep the next day, so they'd managed to find a copy from somewhere and get it straight out. Great service.

I saw Cthulhu wars in a store when I was on holiday in Canada. No idea how it plays. Could not resist the huge minis.

I had to buy a new suitcase to bring it home. I might need help.

Can I ask a favour, I've tried making my own Unlock! room, and figured I'd use a google spreadsheet to be the role of the app. Could someone check that it's working: just put random 4 digit codes into the ... section and check that something comes up .

What's the best Cthulhu game going right now? My wife found some giant £100 box with some huge figures in it which we can't really justify but it's a theme we both dig.

shynra almost certainly has the correct answer with Arkham Horror: TCG, but consider Mythos Tales if what you like about Lovecraft's work is the atmosphere. It's kind of like a big Choose Your Own Adventure book, with a series of cases to work through. It's basically a Lovecraftian Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, if you know of that.

Some people like A Study in Emerald? It has two versions, confusingly. I quite like Elder Sign. Not sure anyone would ever claim they were the greatest games featuring the Elder Gods, but they have their fans.

Oh, the giant £100 box your wife picked up was probably Cthulhu Wars (see the photos in Faded's post above) or the 2nd edition of Mansions of Madness. The latter is supposed to be brilliant, if pricy.

Was going to mention Elder Sign too! A dice chucking, press your luck, cooperation game. I'm not a huge fan but it has many champions for it. You could work hard to bring the theme out (and I hear one expansion helps with theme) but the theme didn't come through strong for me.

Yeah, they're good. Message @gameslorepaul on Twitter as well if you have no luck on email/phone.

I've bought from them several times with no problems and fast delivery, but I've reached out to them on Twitter on a number of occasions too to ask about availability and have never had a single reply.

Today, Amazon.co.jp notified me of the existence of this:

https://ssl.fujimi-trpg-online.jp/dstrpg/index.html

It's a Dark Souls pen and paper RPG that came out a few months ago or so. Click the second link at the top to scroll down to a bunch of downloads - character sheets etc.

I guess it will be of little more than novelty value to you if you don't read/speak Japanese, but thought I would share!

I'd love to have a go at an English version of that.

Yeah, I'd love to find out more about it. But my wife would go mental if that turned up at the house. And the next Japanese pen and paper RPG I intend to smuggle into the house is this one (to go with the expansion for it that I bought while drunk):

  • 4 weeks later...

I've just bought two expansion map's for a game I don't yet own. The price was too good to pass up!  to make it worth the postage I then had to add in something bigger so my five pound deal turned into forty quid!

I have a love hate relationship with BGG. It's such a treasure trove of information and yet people on the forums can be right twats.

I posted a quick question about a rule. All I wanted was a quick confirmation about how I was playing it and someone went out of their way to type

Twat

It's solely due to BGG that we're the second cuntiest forum on the internet.

Oh God, I really need to resist buying that. It's such a good game though. I hope stronghold make more than the usual 15 copies and it's easy to pick up in a few weeks.

Buonocore has been saying on his podcast that it's a massive print run, so hopefully it'll be available for a while.
