The Sony PSP Thread

But the PSP is already wireless and can connect to other PSP's via the web. Whats the big deal with this?

The PSP has two wireless modes, Ad Hoc for local play (which an awful lot of games support) and Infrastructure for intermaweb play (which far fewer games support). Basically this will dramatically increase the number of PSP games PS3 owners can play over the Web with each other. You could do it with tunnelling programs anyway, but this is official support.

Just messing around with my PSP, is it worth upgrading to the latest firmware? I'm on 3.80-M33, is there anything of use in 4.05? Have they added any of the 'sort' functionality the PS3 now has? I'd quite like to give games/emus labels and sort accordingly but other than that everything is working as I would like really. I have the MusicPRX plugin and 1.5 kernel, will that all stay working if I update?

ps. I assume I can still just update via the psp and it will get Dark Alex's latest rather than Sony's?

pps. LET ME USE THE ANALOGUE NUB N+

You sure? I finished Crisis Core a while ago and have Extreme on the memory card right now. Both works perfectly and I'm still on 3.70-M33 because I'm too stupid and/ or cowardly to update it myself.

Hey, PicoDrive's a Mega CD emulator, ain't it? I'm also too scared to try it out, every perfectly legally acquired rom I discover comes attached with lovely sound files but I've little to no idea what I'm supposed to with... well, anything.

Alright, I confess. I acquired Shining Force CD and Sonic CD whilst drunk, unzipped them and passed out or something but I'd still appreciate any advice/ tellings off because it's so simple or anything. Equipment fail, technology hate me.

Any news on the forum bike TOOL thingy? Anyone know who's got it and who's due it?

I've finished it now, I'm sorry. Communication's been pretty poor and so I've stopped it. The last few people on the list will get it, then when I get it back it will go to the owner. He can then decide if he sends it out personally to other people.

So after my second PSP died a couple of years ago I couldn't be arsed replacing it but with a couple of long haul flights coming up I'm back in the game thanks to the trading folder.

What have I missed? I think the last game I bought for it was LocoRoco. In the last few days I've got hold of:-

Patapon

N+

Space Invaders Extreme

Crush

Echocrome

As you can tell I like the quirky quick-fix 2D stuff but I have no qualms getting into some 3D action if it's good enough. I hear Syphon Filter's supposed to be good but can anyone suggest anything else?

And as far as 2008 football games go do I want FIFA or PES?

Does the PSP support really large memory cards, like 4 or 8 GB (or higher)? If so, where's a good place to get them? There seems to be a lot of fakes for sale.

Tried Exit? It's very good.

Fifa on PSP is better than Pro Evo.

Was afraid someone would say that - I tried FIFA yesterday and thought it was awful. Couldn't find an option to configure the controls so was changing player when I wanted to tackle, shooting when I wanted to cross etc. At least PES will have my preferred button layout (hopefully).

And Sprite Machine, yeah I tried Exit way back when and enjoyed it a lot. I got an 8GB Sandisk from dabs yesterday for £47 with next day delivery, there are cheaper ones out there but I needed it before I go on holiday on Saturday.

One of the presets is the same as PES.

That's a real one, right? It must be if it's from Play (can't trust Amazon sellers, grrr).

I couldn't find an option to change it - not from the ingame pause menu anyway, if I went into the controls bit it was just a series of diagrams for attack/defense etc. Is it on the frontend somewhere?

Think it's under 'My Fifa' on the main menu, but I thought it could be changed mid-game too?

I thought 8Gb cards didn't work properly on PSPs anyway? Or was that fixed in firmware gubbins...

Playing Vandal Hearts on mah Slim PSP. Ees so beautiful.

8 GB sticks are fine they must have fixed it a while back as I've had mine in there since Feb - On a CFW machine obv.
