Thanks Sigourney.

Having real motivation issues at the moment. Doesn't help that the girl i'm painting has cut me off for no reason other than I deleted her on myspace. Stupid young people. :)

Oh Noes :(

Why did you delete her off myspace btw?

You know what women are like -_-

Listen to some rocky soundtracks man, that always gets my motivation pumping :D

I deleted her because I was told by another girl that no one in Malta wants to know me. In a fit of grief/despair/annoyance, I deleted everyone from that part of the world, but a couple days later realised i'd been a bit rash. I explained, and apologised, but that's not good enough apparently. Fuck her. :P

Oh noes, it's a blog thread now. :P

Just thought you could do your own thing in full-colour really, just being inispired by the imagery. Unfortunately my DVDs are at my 'old' home, otherwise I'd post 'em to you.

Actually I could get my mum to anyway, PM me your addie and I'll see what I can do.

Et Voilà!

Glad to get that out the way...

Next i'll try my hand at some Lone Wolf shiz. I saw the first film the other night - Very good I thought. No Seven Samurai, but what is? Quite few scenes interested me in terms of painting. I'll have to make some screen caps. :)

Will put it on hold for a while mind, as i'm going to Malta in two weeks and I need to prepare a few bits and bobs.

Fuckin hell Number 28!

Firstly; awesome. Obviously.

Secondly, the bit where I ask lots of questions and take notes furiously.

How long you been doing this sorta thing for?

How many hours did you clock up on that thing?

How the hell do you blend the colours so well? I can barely manage on photoshop, let alone on the real thing.

Speaking of which, you ever have any trouble matching colour tones when working from a source? I've been practicing this a bit lately, but it's hard work. I dunno if it's just something you have to train your eye at or what.

You do any digital stuff? In retrospect I think I'd prefer to have an actual, unique physical product at the end, but digital painting is just so much more ....convenient. Shame, really. I bet it's easy to pick up loads of bad habits from painint in photoshop, though.

Thanks Tempy, Vulgar Monkey.

How long... um, well that's my third oil painting, but i've been painting most of my 26 years. Before my first oil painting I hadn't painted for 6 years actually. Rather slack. This painting... well, I started at the end of December, but i've been REALLY slack. Probably about 3 weeks of work though...but I don't think I could work continuously that long without burning out.

Blending colours is pretty easy with oil paints, because it stays wet for an awfully long time. Mixing the right colour...hmm, not sure what I can say to help with that. Right now I only have a set of 8 paints, and i'm pretty confident I could mix any colour I could ever need with them. So, keeping it simple is probably a good idea. I rarely use more than three colours mixed together, so it's not too hard. When you begin there's an element of experimentation involved, but soon you're able to deconstruct colours in your head, and know instinctively what you need to mix in what quantities.

Hmm, i've done some digital stuff, but i'm not awfully good at it. There's something about working with physical objects i much prefer.
