Jesus...just had a look at gp32x forums, and it's getting pretty ugly over there. Personally, i feel sorry for the developers. I'm sure they feel like it wasn't even worth their time and effort by now.

Anyways, is it too late to order one of these badboys? I'm sure a bunch of people have cancelled their pre-orders.

Oh my god, give us a break. I really want to be at home playing Gears of War 2 today but instead I'm sending throusands of personal e-mails one at a time.

Seriously though, we're doing our best ok? If you want a refund at any point thats absolutley fine. You can e-mail me and I'll personally do it for you - pandoraorders.at.gmail.com

No you don't have to pay by bank transfer, it'll just save us money if you do :)

We're trying really hard so please don't hate us.

Can't believe I'm talking about work on a forum. Argh.

You'd save a LOT of grief if you were more open (ironically) in your communications. This whole bank thing has people nervous about where their money is going and I'm sure that rather than saying everything is fine and staying tight lipped about what is going on you'd get less emails if you said exactly what is happening because this isn't the normal operating procedure that people are used to when they buy something online and it's starting to lose you goodwill and make you look suspicious.

People have even volunteered to do blog updates but have been turned down. You're not helping yourself here!

I don't know what sway you think I have, I just work here. I do what I'm told to do.

I don't really speak to Craig or Ed so me saying to them 'oh I think you should do this' really won't make any difference.

I'm sending out personal e-mails to customers one at a time and I've already said you can have a refund at any point.

I've worked with these people for 7 years now and I can assure they arn't stealing your money.

But if you hate us thats fine - I can't change your mind. I know I'm taking this personally but it's hard not to when you've worked this long and hard.

Anyway enough slacking, back to work.

I don't think anyone hates, you and it's a damn shame that the bank/LCD stuff has gone tits up, but surely you can understand that people who have invested money to make this thing happen would be slightly concerned? I mean, sure, there's the extreme when you have people saying, "I PAYED MY MONEY WHERE IS IT!!! :) " but most people are being more reasonable about it. I'm sure everything will turn out just fine! (touch wood)

It would be great if you could get the people shouting down 'noobs and whiners' for bringing any of this up like it's not happening to STFU though

Well it's clearly an organisational problem. I find it odd that someone who's worked in such a small organisation for 7 years wouldn't be able to feed back suggestions to the rest of the team though.

Nobody hates you debsss

Craig dosen't listen to anyone... certainly not me anyway.. oh god I'm going to get fired for saying that :)

Thanks for not hating me  Strawp - if you give me your order number I can find out if it's an affected order or not and at least sort it out for you now. Same goes for anyone else who is concerned.

Sorry no new orders at the moment but depending on the amount of people who choose not to re order there's a chance we may have some spare stock, so we could be taking orders again for a very brief period - should know more by the end of the month.

Of course I can understand everyones frustration, after the Paypal issue then this we havn't had much luck. I just want to reassure people as much as possible that we are trying our best to fix it and we are a good company really :)

WOS CD's those were the days... I used to hate burning them off too as they took forever to write on our 6x drives :)

Wow Debsss, sounds like you seriously need a holiday. Nobody hates you though, what made you think that?

I got my repayment notice yesterday anyway. Jacqueline was very nice to me on the phone which definately helped ease the stress. You should totally make her your PR lady.

Oh no, you had to work. I'd really like to have been at home today playing Gears 2, but I had to work also, I'm not fucking complaining.

Pandora only have themselves to blame, if they had communicated everything a little bit better, they wouldn't be in this situation.

she was mad helpful when I got my gp2x, there was a delay and they threw in a free 2 gig memory card.

Not liking the sound of the Pandora fiasco, I nearly pre ordered in the summer.

From Craig (buried in the GP32 forum):

As for the credit card thing, yeah it's a pain but we want to move banks and the old bank won't let us take the card orders with us.

Moving to a new bank is essential now the project is bigger and we need a bank which can let us grow and manage us in a professional way, the current bank is unwilling to do this. It could be effects of the banking crisis on them, I just don't know, but we will write more about it once it's done.

Thanks for all being so understanding about it, and we will handle it in a neat and tidy way, keeping you in your original order - and the 256MB will pay for itself in the coming months I'm sure! We can really go head to head with some of these bigger x86 machines now. Fun times!

Why they didn't just say this in the email.... fuck knows?! Some mystery.

It doesn't add up, does it? They knew the number of preorders in advance, they knew the bank wasn't supporting them - so why not just hold off on taking the cash until they'd changed banks?

Thought it might be worth mentioning: I offered to pay any credit card related charges via banking order but still make the original purchase via credit card and the kindly Debs said this wouldn't be a problem. It's not the fear of a scam, just the fear of something outside their control going wrong. Can't imagine the charges are going to be too much for an individual to bear? Multiply it by 4000 and it's a bit more significant though.

Yeah, there's zero chance we're getting it this side of Christmas is there? Shame, I always like to have a new gadget to show off to my confused parents when I go home. Maybe I'll have to just get a G1 instead.

I've given up on it. Also, instead of going for a Wibrain I1 as a replacement, I finally got round to homebrew-enabling my PSP and have put Spectrum and Amiga emulators on there along with MAME, and I'll do Dosbox this evening. Frontier & Elite :)

Sorry bud but you're going to be disappointed. The Amiga and Dosbox emulators are way slow on the PSP. You won't be able to play Frontier on either of them.

This was part of the reason the Pandora was conceived in the first place - they already have a fullspeed Amiga and Snes emulator (if the videos are to be believed) which already trumps anything the PSP can do. This isn't propaganda or anything, it's just the truth!

I'll wait for the second batch... in the meantime, I'll give "Frontier 1337" a go!

Cool new things in the last few days:

Ubuntu is being officially ported to ARM

Android has been booted up on the Beagleboard (a machine with an almost identical chipset)

In other words: Ubuntu (a good handheld version) and Android are pretty much a given for Pandora now.

Video of Android booting: http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=3cetZMUWBHY

Don't forget Ladies and Gents, that the Pandora has been designed to allow booting from SD card completely bypassing the built-in firmware. Think of your memory cards like little hard-drives!
