Thanks for the linkage debsss! It's so nice to have a Pandora rep looking after this thread.

I don't feel worried about whether we're going to see this or not, I just want my hands on it, however I'm not one of these people that begs for the release of something and then complains when it's not done properly, so I'm definitely on the side of quality for all the decisions so far.

So yeah native Ubuntu, native Android - my two favourite open source projects in the world. Really looking forward to this.

So Android then, what does it do?

Android has one big weakness and one big feature. The weakness is it is much less good at supporting running existing applications, mainly emulators. These will need to essentially be bundled in as part of the OS installation, or handled in a rather messy way.

The strength is that new original software development on it is an absolute piece of piss. There is also going to be a lot of commercial game support on it, and a real marketplace that Google are going to run in an effort to ape the iTunes store. How this will integrate with a device which isn't a phone is unknown, but I think this has a lot more potential of getting a low cost homebrew scene off the ground than anything we've seen before.

The re-order link should be up within the next 7 days, I think Craig is trying to get it set up for this weekend but his laptop is dying so maybe not. If it is up this weekend I'll post the link here as I won't be able to e-mail it from work till Monday.

Who knows! I had my refund, and am now umming and ahhing over whether I should pay them again.

I would have moved house by the time they deliver if it is march. I'm scared to ask when they expect to deliver on the forum because I will probably get shouted down by the resident cunts.

Yeah, you'll have some twat demanding how you dare ask when the thing you bought is going to arrive.

They don't seem to understand on there that although the community designed it over the last couple of years it's being funded by people who just want to see the end product.

I'd send it to my parent's house if I were in your position. Or work maybe.

March? I haven't been told that. As far as I'm aware the majority of shipping will be done in January if everything goes to plan.

Prehaps I'm completley misinformed...

Yeah some people on the forums can be a bit, um, protective to say the least. But that's why I'm here  doing a poor job of keeping you all up to date with my insider info (which could be wrong apparently).

I'm continuously amused by how people are so surprised with how capable this thing is, when it's been obvious from the beginning that the chip they're using should be bloody good (once TI got the bugs out at least).

This thing really deserves to succeed, but I think by the time it's generally available there will be other devices in this space.
