I'm fucking getting one! And the sad truth is, if there are only 3000 available in the first batch I just cannot help myself.

It's a bit ugly, but the features are very impressive. It'll also be great for emulation- although it has a slightly strange screen res, it just dawned on me that the screen height is double QVGA, so put some black bars either side and 16-bit games will look beautiful.

When do pre-orders start?

Their site is rubbish - they don't have an RSS feed for their blog.

I went to sign up for their mailing list and it said I was already on it :)

I did the site for them in a very short time with a pretty basic CMS for the blog bit, had nothing to do with the newsletter script though. I really wish I'd put an rss feed in now but its out of my hands now which it's been bastardized a little.

If you ask for debs and mention your from the forum when you order you might get yours a little quicker, but I cant promise anything ;).

Looking around the main GP2X forums it seems most of the main developers from the GP2X are already working on the Pandora, i think the Pandora is deffo the way to go.

I love my GP2X for MAME and Speccy gaming but the battery life makes me cry. Are both of those emulators cast-iron dead certs for the Pandora? If so... I'm fucking getting one.

It runs linux. You've already got emulators available for pretty much any system you'd care to name.

Will it have it's own, simple UI then that will be quick to startup? I don't want to wait half a minute while it boots, only to be forced to move a mouse around the screen with a joystick... Something like the EEE PC's default UI would be lovely, actually.

Nobody knows at the moment.

I'll probably just boot into CLI mode :P

I'm going to have to eat my proverbial hat and get one. The guys behind this have done an amazing job to put it together, especially based on such a new chip. Still have slight doubts about how well made it will be physically, but if it's halfway decent they'll have made the first really deserving homebrew handheld.

I really hope this gets more support from the western games mainstream than GamePark ever did, even to the point of hoping some people try to do commercial stuff for it.

According to the devs it already has commercial game support, details of which are being kept under wraps.

Oh dear. Some guy just came into their forum and started bashing your site design offering his own version. For the record I defended yours and called his generic (which it is!). Best get in there and set the record straight!

Well I was given specific instructions from craig on how he wanted it layed out and the navigation. I did my best to make of what he gave me. While his layouts look clean once it gets uploaded and craig starts messing with it adding random html it wont. I do agree with him the site could really be done better though.

I really don't know why people don't like the design tbh. Who did the site for gp2x.co.uk? It has some horrible quality jepgs on there that make my eyes sad.

I know they will be taking pre-orders soon for this (at the end of Sept I think?) but do we know when units will be shipping?

I was thinking it might be a good thing to ask for as a Christmas present, but I have no idea if they will be shipping by then.

November. Early to late November I think.
