Space Channel 5

Way to go Lorf. Some of us want to live the dream under the blue, blue skies of old school Sega.

But yeah, it probably won't me any good will it. Sniff.

And while we're at it of past glories waiting to be hurt and rereleased with no understanding of the things that made them work well, and, at the risk of derailing the thread: WHERE THE HELL IS CHU CHU DS WHILE WE"RE AT IT SEGA?

But yeah Woo! Space Channel Wii! I'm loving it right up to the first review crushes my heart once again.

I'm not sure "licensed Michael Jackson songs" is a very promising sign. The original soundtrack (especially for part 2) was pretty much perfect. I don't want any part of that replaced with licensed tat from washed-up pop stars.

Still, cautiously optimistic about this, if only because I love the originals so much.

Agree completely, apart from the "cautiously optimistic" bit. I can't be cautious about this sort of thing. I'm all :)

Anyway, I really hope this is a compilation of the original two games (a bit like Lego Star Wars) but with Part 2's enhancements also applied to Part 1 (also a bit like Lego Star Wars).

There was a PAL version of the second game, it just required a tiny bit more effort to get hold of than popping down to the likes of GAME or somewhere.

Ditto.

IIRC you could get it for about £25 from that Aussie DVD retailer, and I decided to wait until it came down further in price. It now goes for a small fortune on ebay.

I love the SC5 games, and I still play through both of them regularly on the DC. I'm happy about a new game, but I don't know about replacing button presses with waving the remote about, I just worry about how they'll carry off that control scheme well.

What Sega need to do is bring Samba De Amiga Wii, I always used to have problems with how high the controller though the maraccas were - that's easily fixable via the Wii remote isn't it. They can even use the remote speaker to make a maracca noise when you shake it.

Rather OT, but I've managed to persuade the missus that our next cat should be called Ulala.

(Our existing cat is called Cosmos, or to give her her full title, The Cat of All.)

Excellent.

That made me smile.

Right, this thread has reignited the love. I'm off to play Part 2.

JAGUAR!!!

A quick note to those who think Sega has been churning out crap lately - I guess you haven't played Virtua Fighter 5, Sega Rally and Phantasy Star Universe.

NO!

FUCK this shit. I hope Sega go fucking bankrupt, and their decaying spirit farmed out to someone who gives a shit anymore. Seriously, when they were inventing and creating these one-off IPs several years ago, people weren't waiting for them to re-release fucking Afterburner 1 or Space fucking Harrier, they were playing and enjoying the new quality titles they were releasing. Nights wasn't originally a sequel. Burning Rangers wasn't a fucking sequel. Space Fucking Channel Fucking 5 only had the gaul not to be a fucking sequel initially.

Now all we get is fucking re-release this and re-imagining that. Once upon a time it used to be creating the new IPs, now it's trading in on past glories. If it weren't for Sega Europe, I'd be wishing for much worse.

Edited for you. Call yourself a SEGA fanboy, fail.

I guess as long as they don't have motion controls it'll be all right.
