Rugby thread (6 Nations, Heineken Cup etc)

So Ireland are still shit. Sigh.

I think the refereeing's been pretty poor, too. All minor stuff in the Ireland game, but the ref's cost Wales 10 points in the other game, which they could really do without, because England are clearly on top.

Christ that was terrible. It was like the first match against South Africa in the World Cup again. And people questioned why Ashton is on a rolling contract? He won't have a contract at all if he carries on like that. Either way, congrats to Wales, you deserved it.

I've been trying to explain to myself why i stopped having faith, and now i feel not1hing but shame. I feel as if i should apoligise to the welsh people of this forum and the people of Wales for losing my faith in welsh rugby. We kicked their mother fucking arses and it felt good, i never thought it would happen.

Can we please change the name of the topic, considering England did so shit, too something more like 6 Nations Championship.

Come on England just feels rather pointless now.

On come on, you can't actually think that Wales were the better team for the whole match. Wales were woeful in the first half and it was only the last ten minutes of the match that you actually played a decent game. I will admit though that when it mattered, you got the job done, unlike England who decided to stop playing and think about what to say during the post match interviews

I think thats bit unfair to blame Ashton for some fuck ups by very experienced players. But i dunno if its his idea or not, but England (and other teams to) kick the ball away far too much when there is no need, which drives me crazy.

One thing: I thought that to give a try, the referee had to see the ball being grounded? It seemed to me that there was no way that the ref could have seen the ball being grounded for the Italian try yesterday, but he asked the video ref if there was any reason he couldn't give the try (instead of asking if there was any reason he could give the try). Or have I got the ruling wrong?

You're correct that the rule does apply but also their were no Irish players there to stop the ball going down so common sense says that the ball must have been grounded, that's atleast the way i see it. I suppose you've got to allow for some room within the rules for things like what happened yesterday.

Yeah, common sense suggests he grounded the ball, but then there's no way of telling whether he dropped it or not. Which, surely, is why there's a ruling that the ref has to see the ball grounded? I mean, in this instance, the Italians deserved to score and it doesn't make any difference to the result of the game, or Ireland's woeful performance, but I would prefer to see consistent refereeing.
