Well O2 arena on Saturday was awesome. They played for over two and a half hours.

However...

No Disarm

No Cherub Rock

No I am one

But Billy seemed in a good mood for a change, mocking English Beer bellys and covering Girls aloud at one point.

Only issue I had was with the O2 itself. Nowhere to put your coat?!?!? I was stuck with a huge winter jacket under my arm all night...

I think we were at the same gig! I only got into them after they'd split up, so I was desperate to see 'them' live. I was disappointed with it really, I didn't get all the songs I wanted, and the focus was on Zeitgeist (which I'm not crazy about). Corgan was good though - he was on stage for the whole gig, even while the others took a break.

I wish I'd seen them when they were touring Siamese Dream though...

The Smashing Pumpkins were the first band I properly got in to when I was a teenager. Darcy was one of my first teenage crushes. I spent ages looking for a Zero top, but could never get one. This was in the days before being able to order anything on net and having to look in grungy shops whenever I went to a big town/city They were the first band I saw live, at the NEC in Birmingham when they toured Mellon Collie. Me and my friends were too pussy to get tickets in the mosh pit so we spent the gig rocking back and forth in our seats like a bunch of gays. Anyway, nothing to really add to the thread, just reminiscing after seeing it on the first page on not having thought about them for years. Gonna have to go find me Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie now.

Going to see them next week. Know only the big tracks but going to listen to an album or two. Probably mellon collie and the newest one as guessing they will play a fair bit off that -I actually have a couple of tracks from their last album on my ipod I got from fluxblog I think which I really like. What was the thoughts on that album, and about them live recently? I think they played Glastonbury but didn't catch any of it.

They sounded excellent on the Glastonbury live stream (Billy Corgan's put on a few pounds recently though ;)). Had a look at some recent setlists, and they seem to be mainly doing the sort of Greatest Hits and New Album Tracks setlist you'd expect, but with a couple of rarities throne in for the hardcore fans.

This is the what the Pumpkins were all about. Siamese Dream tour, 1993, playing in their hometown of Chicago.

Look at that crowd, in the days when you could crowdsurf without some knucklehead throwing you out under the proviso of health and safety, and not a fucking smartphone in sight.

I fucking love SP but I finally unfollowed the band and Billy on Facebook this week after a constant barrage of shit that was fuck all to do with their music. I don't care about wrestling, tea shops, Jeff going to a baseball game or whatever else random shit.

Good call Danbot.

Does this make anyone else feel really fucking old? Oh the stars of our youth. Thank God for Kurt and Layne.

Hey if he posed all forlorn with a couple of equally forlorn dogs, for their sister mag – entitled Periodical Pooch or something equally as creative – the header could be 'Mellon Collies and the Infinite Sadness'.

Yeah, I know. :(
