Mad Men

I do love this show, but it does suffer from bizarre lines that no one would actually say just to get some sort of meaning across. When the kid said "I like the case, it looks like a coffin" they should have flashed METAPHOR along the bottom of the screen.

I mean, since when do violin cases look like coffins?

Hold on - That's blatantly a simile. What are you trying to pull?

Did nobody watch the latest episode then? I thought it was the best of the season so far.

Yes, but it still feels a bit uncomfortable though, which I can't really point out why other than all character arcs seem to be awkward relationships with each other.

I've been struggling to get into the new series a bit, can't put my finger on why but I'm just finding it a bit boring, something I've never thought before about it before.

Think one of my problems is just that the era now is so garish and ugly and not one I've ever found visually appealing.

I know this always pays off story wise but just not loving it yet

I found the opening 2 hour episode quite dull to be honest (as with last season) but the next two episodes have been big improvements. I think perhaps my biggest problem so far is that Don's latest woman isn't particularly interesting compared to past flings. Most notably the department store owner, the teacher and the psychologist (I think?) from season 4, off the top of my head. The only notable thing about her so far is really just her proximity to Don and Megan. As a character there isn't a lot there.

I think it's going to be hard to top series 5, it was probably the best series so far with plenty of memorable moments like the lawnmower, Roger on Acid, Laine punching Pete, etc.

The thing I'm mostly loving about this series so far is the fashions - the suits go from sublime to ridiculous in the blink of an eye and the women look AMAZING.

I don't think the show has as much affection for the 60s as it did for the 50s. It was supposed to be getting better for the minorities and the women, but no one seems to be any happier.

The best parts of the season so far surrounds the office and whenever Peggy or Stan is on screen. For personally relationships, Don is still going round in circles and none of it is as interesting since The Suitcase.

Easily the best episode this season so far. I was finding the previous episodes a bit uneventful, but now it feels going places again.

I liked the inter-agency battles, so a slight shame they merged. Pete's story was brilliant. With him being so upset at MLK and supportive of rights it was interesting to see his opinion on his father-in-laws prostitute.

Really great episode. No filler at all.

I was kind of hoping for Don to trick Ted somehow when they were sharing pitch ideas, but then I've actually grown to like his character a lot so I'm glad we'll we'll be seeing more of him.

I think I'm in love with Trudy.
