Shopto ftw? I ordered the game from them last night at 5pm, by 6pm I had an email saying it had been shipped and should be with me in the morning ^_^

So theres a good chance of some MGS4 action in my house the day before release :) Hopefully my DS3 comes tommorow as well..... Does the DS3 make a huge difference in this game? I could probably manage to not play the game until thursday/friday if it makes a big difference

Of course I didn't count on my sister being out when the postman was about so I have in fact missed my chance to play the game today as the cunting sorting office now shuts at HALF PAST FUCKING ONE (and the card says pick up in THURS hours :). It's been a few years since I've needed to pick something up actually, last time I went it was 6pm closing! So now I've got to come home from work at 4am and instead of going to bed at 6, I've got to cycle to the depot for 7 and get fuck all sleep because ill be playing the game!

Right, very early impressions, Im just up to the first save point.

FUCK ME! The first thing that hits you is the sheer polish and sheen on this game, it looks incredible and the direction in the cutscenes is amazing. So far though they have just supplemented the action and I havent felt too detached as they blend seemlessly with the action. The camera will settle behind you and you then know you are back in control.

The first segment is uber stressful as it throws you right in the lions den and you need to figure out the controls and mechanisms on the fly, but its a masterstroke that gets you straight into the way of how to play the game and into the metal gear frame of mind.

Technically so far imaculate, no slow down, pop up, or any other tell tale videogame signs.

Oh, those without a DS3 are gonna be missing out on a lot, it is constantly giving you tactile feedback to even the slightest actions on screen. I think it will play a big part, during the credits someone is name checked as being the rumble director! So plainly a lot of thought and attention has went into this aspect.

So far Im blown away, if it keeps this quality up then I am one happy bunny.

Off for more...

Stupid Sony for not getting the DS3 out in time for this game. Some people at konami must be gutted that most of europe is playing the game without rumble! Tragic.

Thanks for the first impressions syntax, be careful with any spoilers though!, so far so good. Bloody kotaku though, showed an image of snake using a certain piece of hardware. Bastards!. I really should just stop looking at the internet!

Also, wtf is the gametrailers review??

Ditto - we always get TONS of post every day as well. WTFRAK?!

Microsoft sabotaging the postal service, clearly.

Aye same here, thats the weird thing, I have a Bluray, a game, those triggers and DS3 all due today and no postman yet! Plus tons of letters which we usually get anyway! :)

Bet the postmans having a great time playing my MGS4!

OMFG ITS WOWSERS!

You get totally immersed so quickly. The controls are spot on, the camera is never troublesome (so far), I actually feel like I am playing a MGS for the first time properly rather than with my hand tied behind my back (never played subsistence)

Only been killed once so far, it definitely needs a slow and thoughtful approach.

I need to go and read the edge review now, in their current run of generous scores after two and a half hours of play I would say it should be at least a 9 or a 10. If you loved the previous MGS your gonna go nuts for this, if you didnt really like them you will probably go nuts as well as it fixes so much that was wrong, mainly the camera.

To be fair to Edge, most reviews (albeit not theirs) state that the game starts brilliantly and goes batshit crazy 'wtf' nutso toward the end. Kind of like a Metal Gear Solid game. I'll be interested to hear the opinion of the first person to finish it on the forum. Who'll it be?
