GTA:IV preorders, shipping, shop dates, times etc

for those picking up their copies from a B&M store, I'd really be interested in knowing just how many of the LEs that the stores are receiving (which would subsequently, let us know if it is truly "limited").

the gamestop where I reserved mine had roughly 250+ pre-orders, but only a small number of people reserved the 89.99usd special edition and they only received a number of the special editions equal to the number reserved (16 xbox 360 versions and only 6 of the ps3 version).

I'll check some of the other stores tonight (that are having a midnight launch) as well as tomorrow morning (non-midnight launch locations) to try and determine if rockstar actually did make the special edition something "special" (unlike microsoft and the whole halo3 experience).

So I have gotten the e-mail now which is great, but do i need to be in to sign for it? Or does "Signed for" mean it's already been signed?

two things to note:

1. Amazon - Delivery #1:

1 item - delivery estimate: 29 April 2008

2. I was totally panicing about it so rang up Gamestation in Bayswater, London. They said they were opening at midnight for the launch and when i asked for a pre-order he laughed and said, "well we can't take pre-orders but we've got SO much stock i really can't see us selling out by the end of tuesday"

so if your order is messed up or worried about it arriving, it might be worth calling a local one or indeed going to that branch if it's close by

now my fate rests in the hands of the Royal Mail... oh good god.

It's 'Recorded' so someone needs to be there to sign for it otherwise it'll go back to the sorting office for you to collect later that day (if you're lucky) or the following day.

Amazon guys, I wouldn't get too worked up over their estimated delivery date if they specificially state they've already dispatched it and you haven't chosen the crappy free delivery. They're often total bollocks.

For example, my RROD 360 is showing no signs of return so I ordered an Arcade from Amazon at 5.30pm on Friday. Their estimated delivery date was Tuesday or Wednesday, much to my horror. It actually turned up Saturday morning. That isn't the first time they've been way out either. HAVE FAITH.

Park in the car park opposite the courts, right next to the Odeon cinema. That isn't locked at night.

For what it's worth, Gameplay actually replied to my email of two days ago:

Hi there,

Thank you for your email.

All orders for GTA IV were packed over the weekend and are being sent out

today, 28/04/08.

As games enter the last stage of despatch an automated email is sent out

stating the order has been sent out.

Unfortunately we were not able to change the email for GTA IV.

They've lied about when mine was shipped. They said on Saturday it had been shipped, but if it really had it would have got here today, and it didn't.

At least you'll get it!

My status still hasn't updated past "held as a pre-order", I've not been charged for it, I've had no emails to suggest it's been shipped. I ordered the thing over a year ago, FFS.
