How much harder/different will this be to play with a pad? I sold my wheel a while back and won't/can't get another one. Is it still worth picking up or will I be missing out too much? As long as it's still possible to do well with a pad I don't mind.

It should be fine I would asume. Let's face it wheel users will certainly always be in a minority group when it comes to playing racing games on any console, no matter how sim/arcade it is.

I'm sure it'll be okay with a pad.

Mind you, Dirt2 was actually quite hard because the car used to travel more then you expected.

I could only play Dirt2 on the pad cos I'm a nob. The wheel moved around too much for me cos I have it on me lap if I can be arsed to get the bloody thing out.

A cheap table may do the trick. Setting up a wheel without a stand is much harder then you initially think as you have to ensure the height of the table AND chair works. Its no good having the wheel lower then...say...your torso and ideally you need it at chest height.

Then your seat has to be well supported on your back (ideally) - some people sit forward, but it can get uncomfy if your having to turn the wheel 900 degrees (in my wheels case anyway).

Camping chairs are ideal for this - esp. the ones that have tight back support (Blacks used to do some good ones for about 10-20).

And they hold your beer of course. Always a winner.

If you're in need of table support for your steering wheel, a flat ironing board does the trick nicely.

All are height adjustable and have loads of room beneath for pedals.

I have not used a wheel since I brought one for Dirt on the Xbox 360, but they're a cheap alternative to the awesome Fantec set up.

Oh god, i'm going to totally disagree with Anothny Davidson and those "sim" comments. How bad that effects the game we'll see but at least give us the option of choosing how hard we want it to be.

He may have played "so many sim games" before, but we've played "so many boring arcdey F1 games" before.

Take at look at the history pal, the F1 sims games have always been the videogamers choice.

Hopefully with all aids of it'll be good. Can't fault that rain effects, they look amazing and really add a sense of atmosphere too the game.

Well, no more sitting on the fence, that vid's just sold it to me. I'd still like a better way of identifying quickly if somebody is beside me, and having a safety car would have been good for our online racing, but hearing the scream of those engines and the speed that you can take corners has really tapped into why I love F1.

Unless you're playing with friends or forumites maybe, how can the inclusion of the safety car possibly improve online? Imagine the scenario when playing randoms:

Honestly, you people who are crying about the lack of the safety car really need to stop and think about you're asking for.

Hence the "would have been good for our online racing" comment.

Honestly, you people who are bitchin' about those crying about the lack of the safety car really need to stop and think about what's been posted.

Great vid, but....

8:25 onwards... Why is the car infront of the Red Bull not kicking up spray?!

i wondered the same at multiple points during that video, it seems that only the car the replay camera is focused on kicks up spray? (see 1:20 and 1:29 of video, along with 8:25)

doesn't look like a ghost car, in one shot there's about 7 cars in the background all with no spray, yet a huge plume of it (i think looks OTT in the replays) behind the car focused on by the replay

Here's an idea: this game will be out on Friday the 24th, with Sunday the 26th being the evening race in Singapore :) That'll be somewhere near the end of the afternoon in our timezone, so how about we do a grand online multiplayer race there that night? See how we can recreate the events to our skills.
