Count me in Mr Mcspeed, after all you chaps will need someone to constanly lap around the tracks. What is the rllmuk tag that we will be using for this game please ?

Good point, we might want to make one. I guess that's a thing Meerman would usually do? Perhaps a conversion of your Forza tag? (Like the Forza online folder went to Online Racing.)

Will add when I get back home. McSpeed, that's a shit-hot idea; provided I'm back from my Krav grading I'll definitely be on for that.

Cheers :) Judging by the amount of people stating they're getting it on day one, I'm sure we can get a full room that night. Should prove to be very interesting!

Nope, that's where I've pre-ordered from. Cheap and they are good for getting games out on time.

Their customer service sucks a bit though. They give a discount code each month if you buy a certain number of games a year. I added mine this month and it's disappeared from my account and I haven't used it yet. I got a couple of replies about it but they're ignoring me now.

Ok well, driving mechanics are a given (lets see how good the tyre emulation is!)

But if theres only one pitbox per team, that would imply the pits are shorter wouldn't it? Ir are they just very long?

i thought that each team had 1 pit box, they come in at different times.. just awkward for that on the game

Yeah, think I've seen them very occasionally have to queue the drivers.

Im so hyped for this. Got the week after release off work too..so should have plenty of time for some online action...bliss!

o/

I need a break, so provided work approve the holiday request I sent in I'll be off for two weeks, after finishing my nights on the friday and saturday. Plenty of F1 amongst other stuff :)

The gear setting's is either automatic or manual sequential. You can't change gears manually if you're in auto' date=' but I agree with you lot that the manual over ride feature like PGR had was the greatest.

You can't get smoked off the line at the beginning. I don't think there is a great deal of difference in general except for some places on tracks where the auto box doesn't shift down when it would be an advantage if it did. Manual is quicker because you can always be in the right gear. At the starts I notice no advantage over other drivers.

[b']The games a lot better without the assists on. I hate driving with them because traction control just makes the car push on when you put the power down whereas I like is sliding a bit to get the car turned. Also you can brake later without ABS on. Obviously there is no safety there and it gets tricky with it off in the wet. In heavy rain with no assists you have to be so gently. And it's really hard to see where your going, near impossible, if you're in someone elses spray.

The online is good, lots of options, all the options that are off line are online as well. You can do sprint races, endurance, pole position shoot outs, or make a custom session. I like Grand Prix mode with quali and the race. You get a 15 minute quali session, and you have to drive out, drive back to the pits, get some clear air...all that jazz that they do in real life.

It's one person per team. I think they might work on a solution to that for next year, but this year it's because there is only one pit box per team obviously and they didn't want someone's race to be ruined by having to queue. You can put cars on 2010 performance, or have all cars equal so it's just a cosmetic difference. We always do equal, then people pick what car they want. You can also allow all assists, or ban certain ones, just depends how you want to race.

Xbox 360 version is better, it looks noticeably better, but plays just the same as you'd expect bar the awful PS3 controller.

See, he's recommending manual gears and no assists as well. I'm glad to hear it's the best way to be playing this.

Why use a PS3 controller (or a 360 one) on a game like this, when there's quality FFB wheels available (especially for the PS3)? Ok, you've got an excuse if you don't have the space or the missus' permission...but using a wheel enriches the playing experience tenfold, in my opinion. Plus it's more precise than a pad and would be perfectly suited for F1 and its split-second handling characteristics. Totally worth the money too if you're well into racing games.

I agree that using a wheel just feels so much better than using a pad especially with the immersion into the racing but is it really more precise? I always thought that the Forza Time Trails seem to be won by people using pads rather than wheels.

I'm well looking forward to this now. I'll be getting one of those wheel stands linked earlier cheers but I'll also be needing a wheel and pedals to go with it.

What should I get (I've got a 360 by the way).

My local GAME has got an official wheel and pedals for £80. It looks like the only one left there. Is that a good buy or is there a better 3rd party effort? I'd quite like force feedback if possible.

It'll be pretty much for F1 exclusively if that makes a difference.

Cheers

Saw this on BBC's F1 show and the camera just behind and above the driver's head view looked incredible; very realistic. Some of the other views and replays, not so much.

Lewis Hamilton cheated by cutting a chicane and, unfortunately, the game did nothing to punish him. Which should be a bit worrying for all you multiplayer fans unless there's something to address this in the final release.

That has more to do with me, Smith, Sjoed and Römer not joining in...;)

Get that official one, and forget other wheels even exist for the 360 (apart from the Fanatec Porsche wheel!!!).

We've got little choice in wheels on the 360, alas. Unlike PS3/PC owners. I think it's ridiculous really, we should be able to use all PC wheels if we wanted to (seeing as it's Microsoft here).

The Microsoft one is a very very good piece of kit. It feels solid, well made, and the force feedback in Forza is excellent (how well it's been programmed for F1 remains to be seen). I bought my wheel earlier this year and I have no qualms with it at all.

Oh God, that lot is going to come in as well when F1 2010 is released :) Let's see if Smith is willing to add me to his list again (I still miss him!), and if Römer has more luck with racing this time around.

Oh, and Sjoerdvankampen is a nice chap, but PLEASE DO ask him to be less loud in the voice chat. Otherwise I'm going to stick to just racing Britons ;)

Sjoerd is a bit loud indeed, and we've told him countless times to tone it down a bit...

Smith just landed a job at the same place I got hired recently, and he's going to be away from home very often for the entire work week, I'm afraid. He may not join us every time due to that. :(

His first gig is in Utrecht even! And he's starting tomorrow at 06:00h!
