AFAIK only if he gains a place.

He didn't gain a place, no, but it did allow him to catch up with his brother. If that was us racing online I'd be miffed if someone I was chasing went across that grass giving them a distance advantage if I chose to race the track properly. I'm dead against 'sticky areas' (Forza 3) but something needs to be implemented to stop that sort of unfair advantage surely?

If you look at this vid at 2:57 he gets a warning for corner cutting...

...and in another vid I've seen it pop up a message "caused collision - 10 sec time penalty", so I assume depending on the options chosen and severity of the corner cutting you'll also get a penalty for that.

why in all F1 games ever is the front left tyre wider than the front right from an in car viewpoint ?

I know its a bit OCD but I always find it very distracting.

Calling someone with a screen ruler to the thread..measure it..i think its just an anomly. A phenomenon brought about by the fact the car is actually the same size both sides and your brain going...

Please tell me you lot aren't taking this video as a serious showcase of the game as we'll be playing it? I'm not saying it's staged, but I do figure it's set up with assists, no damage, no penalties etc. Still nice to watch though :)

Also, will people here be using their real names in this game, like they do in the video? I'm considering to make the switch from Joe McSpeed to Joe van Burik - for the sake of realism, I guess. Meerman will probably go with Richard Meerman anyway (;)), but how about the rest?

I don't mean your Gamertag, but I'm pretty sure there's an in-game naming system when you create your character (to use in online multiplayer, as you have to). If I'm correct that consists of a First name and a Surname, hence.

Oh man. After getting bored with just having the Forza demo to prepare for this with I grabbed Grid again from the xbox marketplace so I could bomb round Spa on one of the formula 3 cars. I just set it to a 30 lap race so I could just learn. Cockpit view with my new wheel FTW. I'm still not great but seeing PB after PB lap after lap feels so good. Learning manual gears, working out my braking points, and finally nailing what I can and cannot do is incredible, and this is just my warm up for this game. I've never wanted to seriously get into a racing game as deep as this before and as a current F1 fanatic I'm praying it does let us down.

And to think GRID has pretty rubbish physics :) Those in F1 2010 may be technically linked to Codies' previous games, but they sure as hell feel a lot better.

Either way, the wait isn't long now. Just (about) 11 more days!

So when any leagues start for this, are yo all aiming for Monday evenings instead of FM3 nights? (please say no, Monday is the one night I can never do)

Tuesdays methinks. It will replace the Forza nights on Mondays.
