Can we get some more pictures of wheel set ups. I want to be forced over the edge into buying one for myself.

Setups be damned! I picked one up last year(?) just to give it a try not knowing what to expect apart from hoping that Forza wasn't too dry, I've never been into the sim stuff being more an arcade racer at heart. It's quite easily one of the best decisions I've made in gaming, it's utterly brilliant, helped in no small part by the community here. OK, I was limiting it to one game (didn't like it with much else), but it's been more than enough so far. And now there's another perfect game for it! You owe it to yourself! And worst case, you can flog it for at least what you paid for it given the usual game-just-out controller frenzy.

Thanks for the vids. Were you playing with a pad? How does it feel using a pad?

It's okay, but I do think you're certainly better off with a wheel in this game. There's the making of little corrections, mostly as you go through long, faint corners, and there's only just a bit of rumble to let you know when you're brakes are locking up. I've switched on ABS to not have to rely on the control pad rumble.

It's certainly playable, but I reckon this certainly is best enjoyed with a wheel. Perhaps even more so than Forza.

Only thing slightly concerning from that video, is you catching up the other cars while missing a front wing. Hopefully that was down to realism settings in-game.

I do wonder what the impatient types will make of that tedious front end though, when they were up in arms with Dirt 2 having something as simple as a motorhome. Cheers for posting the video.

Here's a thing hardcore F1 fans of today might nag about: Qualifying is like in the old days. No Q1, 2 and 3, just one session where the fastest time counts.

I'm note sure what I like better. For realism's sake three sessions would have been better, but I'm okay with the game doing it the old-fashioned way. Thoughts?

I was going extremely fast through that corner before (and the AI was on Medium, I think), so hence. But will pat attention to that.

Hmmm...see this is what I was worried about - style over substance with Codies. No proper quali sessions (sometimes the best part of real life F1), no safety car. But all that bollocks with the french chick thrown in.

It might not matter to some people, but it matters to me.

No doubt I'll be grinning like a schoolboy when it pops through my letterbox though :)

Regarding qualifying, did you have it set to Short Weekend? I seem to remember somewhere that Short Weekend has one practice, one-session qually and the race, whereas Long Weekend has all the practice sessions, three-part qually and the race.

Nice videos, by the way 8).

Ah, good point. Will try Long Weekend tomorrow :)

Cheers for the vids and impressions, Joe. There's an incredible sense of speed, which is going to make for some interesting racing trying to psyche a driver in front to make a mistake. I didn't like the fact that getting out of the gravel (was it gravel?) seemed to have no effect on your car in terms of speed and maneuverability, nor the fact that you were still able to whizz around corners without an front wing....it made it look very arcadey. Maybe it's just the settings you had it on though.

Oh and, "Australia-aisha? I've never heard of that". Neither have we, Joe. (pronuciation here)

Nice vid - I think that lap of Monaco might just have convinced me to pick this up. Do we know if theres much (if any) difference between the PS3/360 versions?

Also, is that a Bruno Senna 430 Challenge I spotted in the background? o/\o

i'm guessing it comes down to which you prefer, who you're likely to play it with online and which console they play it on and what controller/steering wheel you prefer but i have no clue!

get it on the 360 and join us :D

The only game I pre-ordered at Shop To ended up arriving on the Monday after

that's when you buy it on friday at Game or wherever at the higher price, play it until your ShopTo order appears and then return the sealed copy to game for a refund. Get to play the game all weekend and not loose any money.
