Nintendo E3 Conference: Done & Dusted

Well just under a month to go till E3 and so far nothing has been announced really from Nintendo yet, except for Warioland Shake but I doubt that Nintendo will class that as one of their bigger releases. After the leak about the 360 stuff (Avatars and Forza 3) do you think we might get some similar leaks from Nintendo?

I'd like to see more of 'Disaster: Day of Crisis' but I read somewhere it's been delayed indefinitely. Hopefully for lots of polish and added goodness, rather than a cancellation. It's a shame, as it looked intriguing.

As for the hard drive, we will get one eventually but in what form no one knows. Personally I think nintendo will drop the bomb and announce an ipod type HDD only device that serves as a hard drive for the Wii but also allows all VC games to be played on the go with Game Boy and GBA games being put up onto the Virtual Console service. With this it wont be competing with the DS and it would solve the Wii's storage problem, could also be the relaunch of the Game Boy brand.

That's a brilliant idea - Game Boy Retro. You could plug it into the USB port, buy and download games to it, play it on your TV through the Wii (using it as a controller) and then take it with you when you go out to keep playing. It would have to have all the buttons from the Classic Controller to be able to play all the N64 games though. Maybe they could have a section on WiiWare with games especially designed for it too.

I concur, though the delay was more than likely to do with the recent disasters.

I sold my Wii a couple of months back as I wasn't excited about anything on the console at all.

Having said that, once they announce Animal Crossing Wii, I'm running straight back to the shops to get another one.

That doesn't mean they're lying, but that's just being pedantic. Nintendo could cure AIDS and I think you would still find something to complain about.

No, curing AIDS would be great. And they are not pedantic, they are lying. They said core gamers in general, not Nintendo hardcore fans.

So, we'll see what they will show.

P.S. And I'm not trying to find something to complain. It's just what I think.

Does THIS confirm that a storage solution is coming to Wii?

Taken from the Guitar Hero World Tour preview:

You'll be able to save up to 100 songs of your own creation locally, upload five at a time (you're free to swap your favorites in and out of GH Tunes), and download up to 200 tracks others have created. Activision was quick to point out that the Wii version will have the same features as the PS3 and 360. You can create songs, upload them, download them, and purchase famous downloadable tracks on Wii.

Now Guitar Hero 3 didnt have any downloadable content due to the Wiis lack of a hard drive, but this feature is finally being put into the 4th game and there have been many rumours about a HDD for the Wii, I bet we will hear something at E3 in a few weeks.

Guitar Hero 3 didn't have downloadable content because the Wii didn't support downloadable content at that point IIRC. Nothing to do with the lack of a hard drive.

Im pretty sure it was due to the lack of a hard drive. Anyway Rock Band on Wii is without the online support and that IS down to lack of storage, seeing how Guitar Hero 4 is a rip off of Rock Band I dont think it is likely Activision would implement the downloadable content and user created songs if there was still no proper storage solution.

Yep your right to a point, but it seems that the future is a bit better than you think: Theres a interview regarding Guitar Hero 4 (world tour) over here

GD:The Wii version of GH III plays wonderfully but owners have complained that the game didn't offer any of the added downloadable perks that the Xbox 360 and PS3 games feature. We've heard that World Tour will have downloadable tracks?

KB: That's right! Guitar Hero World Tour will be the first Wii game to offer downloadable songs through an in-game music store. Players can preview, purchase and download songs using Wii Points and we'll have new songs available on a regular basis.

GD: With those downloadable packs, will players download that directly to the Wii's internal memory or have you worked out a way to store those music packs elsewhere?

KB: Players can either download songs to the Wii System Memory or store songs on a SD Card, called the "Rock Archive". When you want to play songs from the Rock Archive, players can create a custom set list, and then choose a venue and play!

GD: Will the packs feature music that's more compressed to make sure that Wii owners can download other packs and save memory?

KB: The music is stored in a custom format for Wii so it's as compact as possible, but still sounds great.

As for E3, I would like to see nintendo try and tackle Boxing themselves in its own specific game (punch out) as there have been many lazy/failed attempts on the wii :(

Support for paid DLC wasn't even announced until GDC this year IIRC. It wouldn't have been supported even if a hard drive was there.
