I know project hammer was cancelled but what happened to that Day of Disaster game?

It is being reevaluated is the rumour. There has been very little about it for some time. I hope it is still in production but the plethora of disasters recently have obviously made Nintendo think twice about it.

They'd be as well just getting out ASAP or cancelling it permanently because if anything worldwide disasters are just going to increase over the next few years.

Looks like it was put on the shelf for a while, they manged to start and finish Soma Bringer (DS) in that time, it didnt really get announced/leaked untill it was just about ready to be put on the shelf. Arcording to wiki:

Monolith has announced on May 17, 2008 that the release date for Disaster has been postponed indefinitely to “increase the quality of the finished product”.

According to a poster on NeoGAF (who seems credible), Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing should be announced at E3, AC seems quite plausible as the producer of the game is attending E3 for interviews.

If Pikmin 3's there, it'll be very early stages. Recently Miyamoto said he wanted to do it, but he wasn't sure what to do with the game. I'm not convinced, though no-one will be more pleased than me if it is.

Crosso's definitely happening, obviously. I'm also expecting Disaster to rear its faintly ugly head, I've heard rumours that Project HAMMER may have been revived too. Starfox will be there, possibly Pilotwings, a Wario Ware balance board game might make an appearance as well. Oh, and Wii Music. Kid Icarus? I'm 50/50 on that. Cassamassina's been banging on about it for ages, but I can't see it somehow. The storage solution will be SD cards rather than an external hard drive. And then the stuff we know about - Wario Land, Sluggers, Project Zero.

Which leaves the DS. Tengoku and Daigasso won't be making it to the west. Fire Emblem will be there, Pokemon Platinum and perhaps one or two surprises. New Super Mario Bros. 2? Perhaps.

Wii music. Animal Crossing (the consumerist fascism game). Expect more Channels. The wii-board will hopefully be exploited to death as I am getting so tired of wii-fit

WN: Have you played Guitar Hero or Rock Band?

SM: I haven't played them very much. And of course, I play guitar myself. And I find that when I have played them, I want something more complicated, because I know how to play the guitar. But I do think that those games feel very good, because once you start playing those games and getting into the rhythm it feels very good indeed. Really, because we're still working on Wii Music, I try not to pay too much attention to other music games because I don't want to be influenced by them.

WN: Tell me more about Wii Music. I thought maybe that game would be a shoo-in to get shown at E3.

SM: We had a few too many titles to show off this year at E3, so we decided to hold that one back. I think it will be another big step forward in terms of Touch Generations style games for Wii, so you'll just have to wait until we can talk about it.

WN: Is that still on for this year in Japan?

SM: I kind of focus on games in order, one by one. I'm focused on these right now. So I'm thinking Wii Music might be good for next year sometime. Mario Kart, as well.

From here re: 2007 E3

It's an interesting article.

A wario ware ballance board game does sound great come to think of it

It seems Nintendo might be holding the casual stuff back from E3 because they know it will sell tonnes anyway.

Which is good I think because it's the hardcore who need impressing this year.

I'm not so sure about the Wario Ware Balance Board game. I just got Wii Fit on Tuesday and I don't think it's that intuitive for controlling games. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but that goes against the immediacy that Wario Ware seems to be about.

Animal Crossing AND Punch Out!?

The fine folks over at N-Europe have gotten their hands on the latest issue of British Nintendo magazine NGamer, which contains some tasty information about the big N's E3 presence. Not only does it contain yet another mention of the all-but-confirmed Animal Crossing for the Wii, it also suggests that the Punch-Out series will be making its triumphant return. Punch-Out Wii supposedly will use the Wii Balance Board for ducking and weaving, while maintaining punching controls similar to Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing from Wii Fit. The mag also explained that according to their sources, Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for some time, and while it isn't an MMO as previously rumored it does utilize Wi-Fi sharing.

Hope this is true, been wanting a new punch out title for a long long time now, although Im sure EA will be a bit pissed off as Facebreaker is going to be very similar in style. So then if true we can look forward to:

Fatal Frame

Wario Shake it

Mario Sluggers

Animal Crossing

Punch Out

Captain Rainbow

Not a bad selection so far, cant wait to see what else nintendo have up their sleeves <_<

From Nintendo, I'd like to see:

New IP - It's needed, badly! Compare Nintendo to a company like Capcom (who often put out new IP) and it appears Nintendo are missing a set of balls.

Wii Price Cut - At the current price it's still far too expensive for me personally. I don't exactly want to pay the current price for what is essentially a GC.

More Colours - A Wii in black please.

Games for the Hardcore - Enough of the Wii-Fit/party pish. Create games for those that have kept the company afloat for over two decades.

I'm never too bothered about new IP, although it would be nice to see something new.

I doubt either will happen until demand eases off.

I'm looking forward to Nintendo's conference most of all, just to see where their business strategy goes from here. I'm not expecting big changes, by any means, but I can't see them sitting back and patting themselves on the back as the cash flows in for the next year, they're on a roll and they'll want to build on what they've accomplished so far. Be interesting to see what proportion of massmarket releases get announced and if any more of their traditional IPs get revamped for their new audience.

As for Wii titles I could get excited about, well, I've nothing in mind and I'm not getting my hopes up.

Is Disaster still on the cards? I think that has potential to be a major new 'adult' IP for Nintendo. The protagonist could easily cross into crime fighting or saving another city from a different crisis.

Being without a net connection the news that the new Animal Crossing is not an MMO is awesome. I loved the cube version so much. Please let it be amazing. Also, a new Zelda game in the vein of Majoras Mask but using Wind Waker graphics would rock my world. :-)

Given that there's been no sign of an Ouendan 3 or EBA 2, Inis must have SOMETHING in the works. I hope it's a Wii music game that's as good with the wiimote as Ouendan was with the stylus..

There making that sing star rival game - Lips for the 360

edit: okay rumored but seems solid
