Wouldn't a new F-Zero just use the analogue stick?

I'd hope so.

Surely anyone who's played Excite Truck can see how well motion controls would work with such a game?

Yeah...

I'm really hoping for Pikmin news now, having thought about it for a few minutes. I'm prepared to take this quote from an interview with Miyamoto about a year ago:

http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/804/804262p1.html

"I certainly don't think we've seen the last of Pikmin," he said. "I definitely would like to do something with them, and I think the Wii interface in particular is very well suited to that franchise."

As some kind of near GUARANTEE that there'll be some Pikmin reveal. I may be disappointed but it's a nice prospect at the moment.

Dunno, I think F-Zero needs more precision, it'd be losing it's soul if it went for solely motion controls a la Excite Truck. Given the option in Mario Kart I stuck with motion control for awhile but went to analogue control as it was more responsive. If it is coming I hope they've taken it back in house, as brilliant as GX was it didn't feel as fair as X.

I'm hoping for a look at Fatal Frame in action, and keeping my fingers crossed for Lugi's Mansion (very doubtful I know). Very unlikely but a 1080 update utilising the board please.

What time is the conference happening in UK time?

5.00 pm tomorrow, like what it says in the title  .

Anyway, I'll just add this to the first post in a second, but this looks to be IGN's feed. You need to install their player to use it, but if you don't fancy doing that, I'll be putting other feeds up closer to the time. Just a heads up so you can get sorted in plenty of time.

Nah, confirmed cancelled aaaaaages ago.

Suggested revived very recently - strong rumours. I'm well aware it was initially shelved, but it wouldn't shock me to see it there, even as just another token nod towards the core.

As for Pikmin, Miyamoto spoke to Chris Kohler fairly recently and said he wasn't sure what to do with Pikmin. He clearly wants to make a Pikmin 3 but I'm not sure he knows which direction to take it in.

I quite like Nintendo's new policy of not talking about games until it's almost finished them. There's potential for a couple of decent surprises tomorrow, though I reckon it'll be one or two games shy of a great showing when the dust has settled.

I think an F zero more like the N64 version, with gentle curves and slow overtaking, would be great with excite truck controls. The wiimote would possibly be more analogue / subtle than an analogue joystick. Less so if it was all fast and manic with sharp cornering like the Sega GC version.

Yep. Another GX would be way too quick for motion controls. Given that Nintendo widened Mario Kart's tracks, I could definitely see a similar thing happening with F-Zero.

Anyone think we might just see another peripheral?

It'll be interesting to see what happens there, if the title does feature both remote motion controls and less frenetic gameplay then the remote will probably get blamed for informing the style of play but if standard controls and something similar to the GC game is released the remote will be deemed to be incapable.

Has there been anything of F-Zero been shown at all for Wii?

Interesting to see the volumes of posts in this thread compared to the other two. Also, who has posted in which thread. Stokes chin.... Interesting...

I think part of it is down to the potential surprises Nintendo has. A lot of stuff appears to have leaked out about MS's plans (though I personally think it will have a couple of shocks up its sleeve), while Sony are slightly more of a known quantity too.

Apart from Animal Crossing and Wii Music, no-one has any idea what Nintendo is going to show. And when you're talking about one of videogaming's oldest and biggest publishers, then that's bound to cause a frenzy of discussion.

No, but Nintendo hasn't shown anything of Animal Crossing, and that's finished.

Wait, what? Even wider tracks? Haven't you ever noticed the major difference between X and GX? If anything isn't necessary at all, than it's the ability to stack all 30 racers side by side on a track. Still, I would LOVE to see a new F-Zero, provided: 1) it is again even harder than very hard; 2) snaking is removed; and 3) no weapons. Period.

Also, I think it would be great if it would be made by AV once again, but I fear it won't. Though an absolutely ace game, F-Zero GX wasn't exactly a big financial winner for Nintendo.

Oh yes, and we're so going to so another peripheral. Just a wild guess: a new gen Power Glove :)

Hmm. Like Smash Bros, I feel F-zero is one of the more hardcore Nintendo series and hopefully they'll continue along that vane - would like it to be more like X than GX though (especially the x-cup craziness). Ah, good times. Tempted to get the VC one again now...

I wouldn't be suprised if Animal Crossing tried to use every peripheral for the Wii released so far (and some new ones) but I don't see how that balance board idea would work.

Copper's Early Morning Village Green Aerobics Club anyone?

Animal Crossing needs a headset for online chat as that was what was missing from the DS version. The Wii needs a headset full stop as the live experience seems pointless without it. 8 player online Animal Crossing where you can open your own shop and have visiting players come to your store would be awesome... but I fear it just won't happen.

The Ninty conference should be better than the MS one today which really was all about the games.

Which all looked shit.

To be fair, most of them looked pretty amazing - Resi 5 looked a frightening experience and still has six months to go by the look of it so expect it to be beautiful.

Another Wii prediction - ears for Miis. A full Mii rework with added body parts to combat the 360 avatar rip-off. Oh and yet more channels.

Fucking hell. Give it a break dude. You love Nintendo, we get it.

Yes, some of the games shown looked generic, and maybe a bit brown in places, but to say they looked 'shit' is fanboy-ish to the extreme.

Graphically, stuff like Gears of War 2, Fable 2 and Resident Evil 5 all looked pretty stellar.

If you're into powerpoints about sales, I suppose.

I swear if they show that Brain Training one again . . .

On a serious tip the reason they show those graphs is to stun any of the publishers present into awed submission. Those kind of sales curves are simply non-existent for most people. Even a game like CoD4 which was an undoubted commercial success doesn't have a shelf life like Nintendo can produce these days.

If they can show some third party titles doing that on the Wii that's when the others will experience a meltdown.

Personally I'd love Pikmin to come out on the DS, unlikely, but I can dream. Also the proper hardware follow up to the DS (higher res, better graphics, better networking, more memory, GPS, accelerometers) is due this year or next, which would probably be timed to stem the PSP's growing momentum in the east, and the iPhone in the west.
