Nintendo E3 Conference: Done & Dusted

They'd better show off some games using all of the other peripherals they've released.

Wii Zapper - one game

Wii Wheel - one game

Wii Fit - one game

It's just going to be silly if they keep releasing these add ons and not supporting them.

Prediction:

- 10 minutes of sales figures and boasting about how the Wii is doing great - cue montage of Smash Bros, Wii Fit etc

- More Wii Fit related stuff

- 10 minutes of forthcoming DS non-games including various health coach and brain training type of apps

- Wii Sports 2

- Some Wiiware stuff

- Animal Crossing Wii

- Some new colours of Wii / DS hardware

- A few new third party games like Project Zero and Mad World

- The End

I don't know if anything bar Wii Fit can really be counted as a peripheral and you could argue that it doesn't need to have a series of titles attached to it. What's more, with this 1:1 motion attachment being touted around it wouldn't surprise me if they don't want to mention it alongside a plastic ring you slot your controler into. Furthermore, can't you use the Zapper and Wheel with a number of games already?

I think this Nintendo showing could prove to be pretty underwhelming for me, based on other people saying "NO! That won't happen" as soon as certain titles are mentioned. I'm not sure if Nintendo can continue upping the ante with this system and if the software I'd like to see definitely isn't in development then I might be fairly disinterested.

Are we really sure there's going to be no Pikmin 3?

Not only that, but Factor 5 are supposed to be making it, which means it'll be rubbish.

Factor 5 are up there with Rare when it comes to vastly over-rated developers still in business :P

Blast Dozer was the best thing they've done since forever.

I've always thought Wii Airplane looks awesome. Nice and relaxed, with the ability to do some cool stunts. Would love to see it with a variety of islands, times, weather and challenges. Basically Piltotwings Wii with Miis.

The youTube clip reminds me of the training level of Rogue Leader, which was fantastic. I loved flying around Tatooine at dusk, letting rip into Jabba's Palace or bulls-eyeing a few Wamp Rats. Ah, I love games with true day-night cycles.

Nintendo introduces Wii Motion Plus

NINTENDO INTRODUCES THE WII™ MOTIONPLUS

July 14, 2008

Nintendo's upcoming Wii™ MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote™ controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

This will be their big reveal.

I'm waiting for a game where by you are standing on the balance board, holding the wheel between your knees, nunchuck and wiimote in hands, bongos gaffer-taped to your face, and a new "backpack" controlling which doubles as a "one man band" peripheral as well as allowing fun in "Wii Camping".

And now "Wii camping" sounds amaze cos you can take a trip, fight the elements, put up your tent, fish, and fight bears. IN CO-OP.

Co-op camping. Ahhh yeah.

Matt from IGN is claiming that Kid Icarus won't be shown now.

Not surprising really seeing how it only recently got put into development. My guesses at what will be shown:

-Animal Crossing

-Punch Out Wii

-New Zelda

-Wii Music

-Wii fitness games

-F-Zero

-Pikmin

Plus a redesigned DS, voice chat for the Wii online plus a new storage solution for the WiiWare/VC games. Maybe even some new WiiWare games to be shown as well.

Nintendo are lucky in that their last E3 conference was the worst one ever. Lots of mutual masterbation and WiiFit.

When Reggie whipped out the Wiiheel, he looked as though he was expecting some kind of applause and cheering, all he got was a mute response. It was both the funniest and most embarrassing E3 moment :P

You're posting a lot of stuff I agree with at the moment.

Not sure about the redesigned DS though. I'm also convincing myself that we won't see Pikmin as being let down will be too much for me to take.

Someone should put together a top 10 tumbleweed E3 moments including things like "wii wheel", "metalica", "riiiiiiiiiddge raaaacccer" etc.

Which was topped by MS conference this year, seeing that fat woman trying to shake her groovy thing on stage was one of the most horrorfying things I have seen from E3. Plus the enthusiastic "GUITAR HERO!!!" man, the avatar and the lips presentation. Nintendo would have to do very very hard to make a bigger blunder of their conference.

Horrifying moments admittedly, but at least some good games and features were announced too, including the megaton Final Fantasy bomb.

Nintendo last year pretty much unveiled fuck all for the hardcore gamer to be excited about, Mario Kart's demo was tainted by that plastic wheel.

Wel the PSP has been beating DS sales for the last 6 months (in japan at least). Also the DS has been out for 4 years now hasnt it? I think Nintendo will either announce a gameboy/DS successor or a redesigned DS.
