He's obviously mental, everyone knows the G3 is the best gun in the game.

He's wrong anyway, there's nothing as good as the G3 here. There's a few rifles that handle the same way, but they all do less damage and have 10 bullet clips so unless every single round hits you're getting 1 kill per reload.

The first gun kills in two shots with stopping power and is identical to the G3, even the clip size is the same I think.

I demand a bit more than that to be honest. My favourite maps in Cod are the ones where you can be a bit clever:

Getting a grenade on A from B in Crossfire

Shooting peopls from underneath the tank in Countdown

Holding B from the flower shop in Strike

Using the underground to confuse the UAV in Backlot

None of these maps seem that strategically clever. Domination is gonna be in the game jusging by the leaderboards and of these 3 maps only castle will look like it might have good strategic opportunities. For me the best Cod maps are the triangulear shaped ones, and the ones in a line (wet work, ambush) are the worst. 2 of these seem to be straight lines.

Also ive found the grenade range and deep impact perks to be so far unreliable. they certainly dont behave in the exact same way they do in Cod4, which is more or less perfect.

I'm a TDM whore as you know when I'm alone, I can appreciate they might not be good for other gametypes. I might get this for those times, then join "the boyz" for CoD4 when you're on.

Having trawled through most posts in here the overall impression I'm getting from those with the Beta key is that CoD 4 is too good to improve on (as feared). So they have kept the format, but the weapons/perks/support are all in a WW2 styley and therefore don't really measure up to MW.

Fair?

In which case what are you guys planning on doing? Having both, with CoD 5 for 4 player co-op but sticking with CoD 4 for multi player games??

I was really looking forward to new maps, weapons etc but it seems to me many people are more than a little meh about 5 and will be swerving it altogether.

That summary seems fair to me.

I'm just going to stick with COD4. The 4 player co-op might well be fun, but once you've gone through it, then what? Multi-player is where it is at for me and this doesn't provide enough of an improvement (in fact, I think it plays worse).

Think the balance on this could be very messed up for TDM. The dogs just seem to be too effective. Fun when it's going your way - get dogs, die, release dogs, get 5 kills, artillery, more dogs, die, repeat has worked far too many times. Once today I chained some dogs without firing a single shot. Bit shocking really. Seems that whoever gets dogs first wins 90% of the time.

From what I played, unless the campaign proves to be, magically, the best thing ever, I'm not bothering at all. Too many games at the mo'.

I think helicopters are much easier to avoid and take down. I'm not 100% on how the dogs work, e.g. how many there are in the pack, if they can split up (seems like they do) etc. but the end result is that you've got a bunch of them, running all over the place, going into buildings and up stairs and any one of them can kill you if you're careless and on top of that they lead the opposition to where you're hiding.

The only real balance problem I've seen is playing War on Roundhouse. The other team got the early momentum, racked up the kills and had the tank running which meant we were completely unable to respond. It was Artillery Strike, Dogs, more strikes, more dogs chained one after the other all the while the tank kept everyone away from the capture point.

CoD4 had some problems with this where whoever got the upper hand was given a huge advantage, but it was never as bad as I saw in this match. Total Blitzkrieg tactics.

Other than that I really like it. Castle is my favourite map, Roundhouse is pretty good, and Makin is a pile of shit. The BAR is a beast of a weapon, the M4 Carbine of the game...always suited to whatever you want to do in the map. Second Chance is pointless as everyone already knows how to counteract Last Stand from 4 so it's difficult to surprise people, and you won't ever get revived (at least I haven't been).

And on the big plus side I despise dogs and hate the species as a whole (particularly Alsatians) so I gain extra satisfaction from wiping loads of the vermin out when the other team calls them in. "Chase after my bike and bite the tires next door neighbours German Shepard? Who's laughing now!!" Very cathartic.

I thought on COD4 you could only call one strike/copter per life?

If you get yourself killed/die before you call in your chopper, wait until you respawn, then call it in, the chopper will get you a UAV/airstrike/another chopper. Then you get killed again and repeat. Can be devastatingly effective on open maps like Ambush and Creek.
