Call of Duty: World at War

I was watching a video of some co-op shit on gametrailers and it looks like theres a rather nasty scene in the Russian part of the campaign where you've got to first execute wounded german soldiers after a battle and then kill a group of unarmed german soldiers (who are trying to surrender) with molotov cocktails.

I dunno what I think of that. It was obviously 60 years ago, but still.

Did you ever get over carving up the 2 dudes in the bunk beds on the ship in COD4? - If not you missed a helluva game.

As far as I can tell, you don't have to kill the soldiers who are trying to surrender. Its a choice thing. However, according to a preview on IGN the other week, if you don't do it in that scene

the other soldiers with you do it anyway

shell out and get cod4.

Yeah I had one before and got rid  I really miss live and all the banter. See what the sketch is with work towards Xmas and then I might just treat myself to another 360 and sit in my pants all day.

Only Call of Duty 4 was a fictional game portraying a fictional conflict.

This really happened.

They give you the option of either shooting them or molotoving them. This is a different scene to the one mentioned in the IGN preview.

There's a story on Kotaku saying that GameTrailers TV will make an exclusive announcement on Friday about CoD WaW, that will "rock the internet".

Yeah sure. Can't imagine Treyarch have managed to keep anything major under wraps till this point, it'll probably just be them announcing a range of WaW themed sports socks. Secretly, I hope it IS something awesome.

Don't worry, the germans and japanese did some pretty horrific things to the allies if it will help you sleep better at night, you prick.

I think the COD series are trying to add these little things which make you think about how horrible war is when it's not being played over xbox live (not talking about PS3s network play either) such as the fallout scene in CoD4 or the ending.

I'll probably hire this for the single player campaign but the multiplayer left me feeling bored and totally uncompelled to play it again. And the amount of glitching in the demo now is just ridiculous.

Fuck off, pink cocksucker. How many games feature you as a german soldier, decimating villages on the Eastern Front?

Errr just noticed it forgot to add my smiley to the end of that comment, oh well. Eat poo and die mofo.

So, did you not realise that horrible attrocities were commited in war? tbh touches like that bring it home to me how barbaric it can all be and as much as I don't enjoy actually doing it I think it will make a lot of people realise just what sort of horrific shit your grandad or that old man on the street may have been through.

Also, to answer your question, none that I'm aware of but you never know, that could be all games are about if it had gone the other way and the Nazis won the war.

is it true that the big exclusive is that if you're playing the germans and make it to level 65 and then decide to prestige, your character becomes hitler?

my thoughts on the beta (after one night of playing):

- either there aren’t a lot of people playing the beta or they have some serious match-making issues, as I kept getting dumped into games with people that were already at level 20 and higher.

- the dogs suck. great if you’re the one releasing them, but to die immediately if one makes contact with you is just insane.

- the tank is pretty cool. triearch seemed to get a good balance between heavily armored and cumbersome and slow to make it not so much a juggernaut type vehicle that if you get one, you can just mow down people without any repercussions. (although, I did have a 15-kill streak with one last night before a member of my own team took me out with a grenade [the idiot]).

- airstrike is just incredible. when those bombs start dropping, huge explosions rip through the area pretty good.

- the levels are flipping huge and all mazey like. I guess it will just take some getting used to.

- weapon kills are spotty. I unloaded 4-5 rounds from a thompson into this guy’s gut and he just kept coming at me and killed me with a flipping knife kill. Now, granted headshots seem to work pretty good but if I plug you with 5 rounds from a machine gun, it should also take you down (this isn’t halo where you’ve got powered battle armor).

Bit off-topic - but what WOULD have happened if they'd won the war?

Wouldn't have made much difference. We'd all be walking in big boots with leather coats, and eating cheese for breakfast, but would that be such a bad thing? I mean, we'd be part of the German empire, but that's just the same as the American empire. Instead of going to McDonald's, we'd probably all go down to Herr Bratwurst's for a Hitler Burger, and then, you know, treat ourselves to a brand new pair of lederhosen from Das Gap. It's all the same.

Remember, This is Cod. There was NEVER any matchmaking of skill level. I have lost count how manytimes it has dumped me in a game with people 4 or 5 levels of prestige above me. And when it makes "balanced" teams, and all the level 55s are on one side, and the level 3s are on the other.

And ive never had a problem with the dogs. It ALWAYS takes a dog 2 attacks before im dead, unless im allready injured.

Every time I see this game I can't help but think Treyarch are lazy. Not so in the sense of not putting work in on it, which they obviously have, but it just seems like a company that hasn't had an original idea since...wait...*checks wikipedia*, their very first fucking game, Die by the Sword. Every single thing they've done since then has either been a port, a licensed movie game, or a sports game. This may be a great game but I just don't have any interest in it because:

1) It's World War 2 and I'm sick of those.

2) Zombies, so they thought they'd get that in before the new Wolfenstein game. And the way they describe it makes it sound like Gears of War 2's horde mode, though I think that may be more of a coincidence than one ripping off the other, in all fairness.

3) They're just transposing COD4's multiplayer in to a WW2 setting.

4) IT'S FUCKING WORLD WAR 2. Yes I know but it's worth mentioning again.
