WTF?

Have you actually played it?

I really dont understand the pathetic "arguments" put forward against this game. Its not perfect,it has faults, most games do so why should this be any different.

People on this forum talk as if Fifa is the be all and end all of football games, what a load of bollocks. Its a good game yes,but surely everyone can see it has its faults, and they are numerous. These said faults dont make it a bad game do they?

There's no point dognuts...Anyone disagreeing with the general consensus here is frowned upon...Sheep...

To the guys above - how long did you give the new FIFA? Or wouldn't you go near it because of the name? If you've given it some time, what on Earth does PES do better (or even to the same standard) this year? Genuine question. Loads of people on here, along with most reviewers, are saying PES is the inferior game this year for dozens of very good reasons.

While FIFA has a more dynamic loose flowing feel to it, PES trumps it with the responsiveness and precision for me; two things that are vital for the multiplayer. In some 2-player games on FIFA the ball has bobbled about and changed possession in midfield without the feeling that we had any say in it, whereas PES is a little more definitive with ball possession. Shooting feels more natural too, although I have played PES for years and FIFA on and off.

FIFA trumps it with sheer scale and scope, but PES still offers the multiplayer goodness. (I have both)

I will certainly try PES in 360 if I obtain a promo copy. But the sad fact is that FIFA is so far ahead, even in those areas that you mention, that it's not even funny. Blaming FIFA for taking control of the players and using that as an excuse to make PES sound better is really illogical, given the fact that PES is notorious for always taking control from the players and guiding them players without any input whatsoever.

So, personally, I have yet to read any concrete arguments as to why PES is better than this year's FIFA at least.

I'm not particularly trying to convince anyone (and I'm certainly not claiming it to be the better game) , I'm just saying why I feel PES isn't the amateurish mess some would make out.

The problem with PES doing something for you is still there, but that's not the issue I was referring to - it's not FIFA taking control of the players for me, it's that it sometimes doesn't allow me the control I want, be it reactions or the ball ricocheting around. PES is more precise in this regard.

I see that even videogamer gave it 7 out of 10, and those clowns gave PES2008 9/10 last year so it must be bad. Overall I think the press seem to of realised that reviews should be trustworthy and acted accordingly, which is about time.

Hopefully this flops and gives Konami a kick up the arse to actually make PES2010 a viable alternative. Perhaps they could start by listening to the community. EA have made great strides as they have listened to the fans and given them what they want.

We need at least two decent series to keep each side on their toes. As it stands the gulf between the two is just embarrassing and both series will be worse for it in the long run.

worst argument ever. diminishing pes player base, carry on. rest of the world...lost faith with it.

My point was that just because a lot of people say something, doesn't mean that its true. PES feels better to me, and obviously a few others on here, and no matter what crap you FIFA fans say will not change my mind. I'd love to sit down and have a few games of both with you guys and we could discuss what we like and dislike. If you like the floaty, trudging, weightlessness of FIFA, more power to you.

It is a fact that FIFA is better than PES, anyone saying otherwise needs their head checking.

Its the first case in forums where it really is down to plain Fanboys defending of the series, and totally ignoring the humongous blemishes and stains that are all over the PES series.

I sued to love PES, I played PES6 for more hours than I revised for my A-levels it was that good. But I got with the times, I faced the facts, and I let it go. PES is absolutely SHITE. Every single component in the game works in perfect harmony to produce the biggest steaming pile of over priced turd on the planet.

I cannot stand this anymore. With a debate there are usually pro's and con's between the debated subjects, which can be weighed up against each other. In this circumstance there is not one pro (except in its name) for pro evo. Not one. Whereas FIFA has a huge list of things going in its favour.

Its the same as comparing oh I dont know, Titus Bramble to John Terry, or the E.T. game to mario 64, there is no contest what so ever.

So fuck off to the FIFA topic, maybe?

It's gotten to the point where there's no point in posting anything here about PES, because it's greeted with six identikit "But it's better in FIFA" posts.

Guess what. We don't care. Sorry that we enjoy a game you don't like. We don't do it to spite you.

Someone must keep the PES thread alive mate. It's dead.

I hate all the lies aswell.

Improved ball physics? Worse more like it.

Improved Team vision? What teamvision  I can't see anything!

At least when EA talk about the new improvements, you can actually notice them straight away!

And then you have all this buisness of the ps2 versions being better, and just confusing everyone that has Better consoles. At least EA know the ps2 is a dying console.

Yes, when it's done incessantly, it really does.

It does, way more than comments like these.

PES is great though, I might buy two copies.

I also mentioned that I preferred the physics, movement, pace, passing, shooting, etc. Basically everything apart from the online. But apparently these reasons aren't good enough for you?

Not really, unless you're more specific. There are very bad, unforgivable aspects of all of those things in PES except 'the pace', which doesn't even mean anything now we have speed settings, and no aspect of the game has been improved in any way (and plenty have got worse) in the last seven years. Hence 'why?', and the question doesn't have to have anything to do with FIFA.

floaty, trudging, weightlessness of FIFA

Ah, I see.

Despite that all those 'complaints' can be more believably leveled at PES2009, in which players and ball do in fact float, the speed of the game is slower and less responsive than FIFA's default speed (which is adjustable to be faster or slower) and the players have no weight or momentum at all (as opposed to 'probably a touch too much' in FIFA).

As I said, forget FIFA and tell me how PES has improved since WE6FE (or perhaps use PES3 as a starting point, if you prefer).

My coaster with Lionel Messi's face on it is very popular with my friends

Edit: I know you don't have to justify yourself, and fair enough you enjoy the pacing of this. My comments are not aimed at you individually, just as a whole as to why PES hasn't been boycotted in an effort to make Konami actually develop a new game, rather than sit about polishing a turd.

Having just played a few games of pes 2009 on xbox 360 i can say it seems better than 2008. I think overall fifa 09 is better but pes isnt a bad game, its just sad to see whats happened to pes as it was really good up to pes6/2008 on ps2, and its not improved. Fifa 09 isnt the best game in the world either, i found scoring really difficult but will try it again with shooting on manual (as someone has mentioned in this thread).

The most disappointing thing for me is the player animations/motions, and 8 way directional turning. Fifa suffers with the same problem players dont run naturally. Why cant we have full analogue control  lets just play winning eleven 6:fe on gamecube :(

Oh and the camera is giving me a headache when it zooms in and out
