Robot Masters:

Magma Man

Galaxy Man

Jewel Man

Concrete Man

Hornet Man

Plug Man

Tornado Man

Splash Woman

- 8-bit throughout, including music

- 480p

Fantastic. I really hope this is the first in a series of 8/16-bit revivals to make its way on to something like Wii Ware. You could pick one from any number of franchises that would (in principle) be deserving of this sort of retro-stylised sequel.

Anyone else think that making it as an 8bit game is a little lazy? It should look like Powered Up. :)

maybe going back to the old school is more interesting and definately will turn a few heads, I never found the megaman games after the NES versions fun

and being an 8-bit game, capcoms challenge must for good level design, if this comes even close to megaman 2,3 or 4 it'll be great

Looks very interesting! Does anyone know which mag those scans are from? The text is too small to read so I'd like to pick up a print copy... (EDIT: Ah, it's Nintendo Power apparently, a US magazine from Future. Presumably something similar will appear in the next issue of ONM as it's the same publisher...)

My son loves Powered Up on my PSP so have been considering MM1 & 2 on the Wii Virtual Console, but are they as rock hard as I hear they are?

Cheers,

Ryan

.::: F*CK NO!

All the non 8-bit versions did was screwing the music, making the graphics anything but Mega Man and taking away the 8-way choice going with a 4 & 4 approach. This is probably going to be the best new Mega Man since X.

The original Mega Man is included in Powered Up so you don't need to buy it. It's called Classic mode I think. Mega Man 2 is a bit easier than the first one. You have infinite continues, which works pretty well with the save state feature on the VC as well.

Very welcome and I'm actually tempted to get a Wii just for this.

Anything after X3 has been a complete and utter disaster. Megaman 8 was bloody fantastic though, really liked the look and feel of it so possibly going back to the more 8-bit style may be a bit of a bad move, but at least it's not the retarded cutesy stylings of Powered-Up, which looked utterly fucking horrible and I'm really sorry but that game on the whole was a big pile of utter shite. Even more shite than those battle network megaman games that Capcom seem to pump out endlessly, at least they're aimed at a specific market, who the hell thought it would be a good idea to take a classic game and make it into the most pathetic piece of rubbish ever?

I invite everyone interested in the concept of modern-day 8-bit games to download and play La-Mulana. The palette is 16 colors, the resolution is low, and the music comes from a chip, but the game itself is a massive adventure, with loads of puzzles and challenges to overcome. Be warned though, this game does not hold your hand, and it is quite difficult.

Crikey?

Did Powered Up rape your mom or something?

Aesthetics aside, there was little wrong with it. The gameplay was solid. The challenges were fun. Playing as the bosses (and Roll and Proto Man!) was a blast as well.

It was just a gigantic pile of arse. Both it and Maverick Hunter combined were some pathetic excuse to "satisfy" Megaman fans. Like nevermind the fact that they could have put out two original games, no lets just rework an old NES franchise with SD graphics and a really bad soundtrack, then remake the first X game which is honestly nowhere near as good as X2...

It grates at me, such a bad bad decision on behalf of Capcom tbh.

EDIT : An annoying edit picked at the post above. Why not download Cave Story and have an infinitely more enjoyable experience... La Mulana is great but it's really not for everybody. Cave Story on the other hand is complete and utter genius from start to finish.

fantastic news, and clever on capcom`s part, all they needed was probably one level designer and an artist, the code base would be piss easily ported to the wii, if not emulated.

thank fuck it wasn`t given to capcom USA to turn brown, 2.5d it and give it some webcomic character art.

It's not. However, the entire game is faithfully remade in Classic Mode, essentially giving you that game. The gameplay still feels a bit different though, although the biggest difference is of course the graphical element. The music in Classic Mode is 100% authentic though!

:D The graphics look the same to me.
