If we're going to be pedantic, you didn't say 'my film of the year' - you asserted the film of the year!

Go and see Eternal Sunshine, man. It's beautiful.

I know! I really want to see it. and i soon will. But that discussion is for anthoer time. At the moment i want a hat like Bud and a beard like Pei Mei. When the bride gets buried there was such a palpable sense of despair, and then the training chapter gave me a “life flashing before her eyes” feel. Very clever. And then the three inch punch brings it all into sharp relief. And the zombie-esque hand through the soil and dust coming off her across the road. Rocking good!

I'm suprised QT decided not to make more of the wedding massacre. That would have brought to action up to a level and balanced the film a little, instead of a pan out. The scene was black and white too, so you were kinda expecting a wipeout.

I don't recall there being children in the scene.

Easily my favorite Tarantino film and Kill Bill as a whole is definitely my fave film of this millenium.

I loved Volume 1, I loved the script and after reading all the rave reviews I knew I would enjoy the second. But not that I would enjoy it this much.

I prefer it to Volume 2 because it's better written, has some fantastic dialogue (the goldfish scene, the Superman monologue), makes you really care about it's characters and is very funny (the eyball sequence and the Shogun Assasin mention generated lots of laughter in the theater I was in yesterday).

Acting is absolutely superb. Madsen, Hannah, Parks (as the pimp) and the little girl. Pai Mei is aces as well and nice to see Sam cameo. But Uma and David Carradine are aboslutely fantastic. It's classy how Tarantino is able to make long forgotten stars shine again. Hell, he could probably ressurect the dinosaur.

Action. There is less, but after the rollercoaster ride that is part 1 I didn't have any problem with that. What is there is great and both the training sequence and the catfight rank as some of my favorite scenes in the whole Kill Bill story.

Visuals. Stupendous. Quentin has a lovely eye and the way Robert Richardson shot it is just beautiful.

Music. Fantastic. Much better than the first imo. Really love the use of Morricone and nice to hear mr. Cash play along.

Other things I really liked: that cheesy black and white opening and the fantastic credits sequence.

The name of the Bride could be one of QT's nods to the country I live in (also see Little Green Bag in Dogs and the Amsterdam speech in Pulp). He lived in Amsterdam for a while after all, as some of you may or may not know. But it's more likely to be a reference to Dante's muse Beatrice. It's quite clear Uma is his muse and boy does he make her shine.

I'm passionate about flick and wether or not you'll agree with me is irrelevant. I'll always love it and can't wait for the dvd set. Bring on the anime of the massacre and the rise of Bill. Gimme that chapter in which Bill wipes out Michael Jay White and his bodyguards.

The lioness has been reunited with her cub, and all is right in the jungle.

Good call Vemsie.

The Superman dialogue was utterly fantastic. I was grinning from ear to ear during that, mainly because it was cool, but also because I say the exact same thing. Batman has to become Batman. Superman is just Superman all the time.

I loved the relationship between Bill and Beatrix. There was the right amount of love and respect there, but with the need for revenge over the top of it all. It was very touching at the end, even though she'd just killed him, I felt they were both ready to burst into tears over it. Very well done if you aks me.

I just really, really, really wanted to see more of Pei Mei. I thought his beard was ace. Even if we got to see him teaching Uma stuff she'd never use throughout the rest of the film, I'd have loved to have seen it.

I guess if we'd seen too much of her training though, we'd have seen a bond between them form, and it might have been obvious he taught her the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart move. As it was, I genuinely didn't think he'd have taught her it. So, that's a good thing I guess.

Hey there.

I liked it a lot. Ten times more than the first flick.. But I still think it was a big step back for Tarantino as a filmmaker. And it still just felt like half a movie. I would have preferred a nice tight 2 and half hour movie as appose to a bloated volume 1 and a volume 2 that didn't feel like a full movie.

As for the the Superman monologue... It wasn't that great. And it was pretty much totally wrong. (They even talked about it being wrong on five live today). After what I read about how great it is it seemed like a real let down.

I don't think it was nearly as well structured as Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown. Or have a single character as well written as any lead from those films.

I'm glad tarantino got it out of his system. But Now I hope he starts moving forward and makes better use of his talents and forgets about silly ideas about prequels and sequels.

I want him to write great characters and great movies again. Not JUST "cool" movies and "cool" characters. Because that was I think this has been. I can't argue that the characters in this are not cool. But they certainly ain't that great.

I aint buying a dvd of this untill we get the full movie cut together as it was always intened to be.

Despin out.

Hey there.

"To each his own and all that but I wouldn'd label Ennio Morricone, Johnny Cash, Summertime Killer and I Can't Hardly Stand It as avarage music."

Yeah they were all great. But I would rather have had a brand new fantastic Kill Bill score than quentins best cuts from other peoples movies.

Jesus Christ, we're only 4 years into this Millennium. What an absurd thing to say.

4 years is still many movies. I could change it of course. My favorite film of the last 4 years. Ah what the fuck. Why am I even replying?

How? Clark Kent is Superman's disguise. He was born as Superman and blends in as Kent, just like The Bride was a natural born killer whose role as a clerc in a record store was a disguise for her. I thought it was great, though not as good as the goldfish scene.

I also disagree strongly about the characters. The Bride will stay with me far longer than the hip gangsters of Pulp and Dogs. I'll give you Jackie Brown but I think the Bride is definitely a more well-rounded character than let's say Mr. Pink or Marcellus Wallace. I also really cared for O-Ren, Bill, Budd and B.B. The others (Hanzo, Pai Mei, both Michael Parks characters, Go Go and Elle) are just plain cool in my book.

I can't wait to see this scene on DVD:

Kill Bill has some original RZA and Robert Rodriguez stuf which is more than can be said of his other movies which all used licensed music. Why reinvent the fucking wheel? The Morricone stuff really suits the film and it very hard to top.

Hey there.

"How?"

Superman is not unique in the way Bill said he is.

"Kill Bill has some original RZA and Robert Rodriguez stuf which is more than can be said of his other movies which all used licensed music."

I have no problem with licenced music.

"Why reinvent the fucking wheel? The Morricone stuff really suits the film and it very hard to top. "

Yup... And Peter Jackson could have made do with some of John Williams old classics for Lord of the Rings and The Watchoskis could have took some choice cutsfrom fuckin Johnny Mnemonic and scored The Matrix.

But they didnt. And now we have a few extra fantastic scores to listen to.

Wouldnt it have been fantastic to have a brilliant original Kill Bill score.

He didn't say Superman was unique, he pointed out the differences to some other comicbook heroes. As an analogy with the Bride it just works fine.

Re: the music.

Using licensed music is just the way QT works. If Ennio would have written some new and awesome material I'd be a happy bunny but I doubt he could top his own masterpieces that were used in this.
