Dragon Age: Origins

Was 1.38 gig I think on Xbox Live (forgot the exact number), which seems a bit small to me, but I dunno. Not had chance to play it yet, but will in about half hour. Will post some thoughts once I've had a crack. Downloaded suprisingly quick too.

Well, Dragon Age's files were about 15 gig, but I'd imagine Awakening can use most of the files of the base game and only add in a comparatively small amount of new textures and models and dialogue, even for 25 hours' worth of game.

Thats true. Ah well I'll see soon enough :)

Is the expansion really £32 on PSN? :)

Just had a look at this myself. Can't quite believe it. The RRP for the 360 version is £29.99. It can, of course, be bought for less. Why does a boxed copy with disc and associated production costs cost less than an electronic download?

Won't be buying at that price. Not yet, anyway.

Is like no-one playing the expansion yet?!? I'm amazed no-ones posted anything about it. It is available to download now on Xbox Live chaps! Chop chop!

I've been too busy playing it, really enjoying it so far. Some really interesting new spells and abilities, should offer some more variety to how you can play the jobs. Archery has got a nice boost with burst shot and tanks have some pretty amazing abilities, really are quite powerful, must go for a rematch with the dragon soon. Good job you can now get stamina drinks.

Downloaded this last night and played for about an hour, but I think coming back to this game after Mass Effect 2 has spoiled things for me a little. And I'm not talking about the graphics, combat or slightly wonky voice-acting ("I'll see you hang for your crimes, murderer!").

I'm talking about the fact that the dramatic opening cinematic was lost on me a little after my first thought was

"it's Zaeed 'goddamn' Massani!"

I'm glad Wade is back in this, the interactions with his assistant are ace.

I played it last night for like 2-3 hours and didnt even leave to the world map yet!

Btw, anyone know what happens if

you pick what place to send your soldiers? Farm, city and the trade route. I picked to try and defend them all, hope that doesnt mean something bad happens later on

I really didn't get on with DA:O despite looking forward to it lots but for some reason I bought DA:A and while I've not got far yet I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure I made the best choices at the start (

I told Oghren and the mage to fuck off and the girl died during the joining so I'm now on my own

) but we'll see how it goes.

Right now, Zaeed is the only guddamn thing that is tempting me to getting this.

"This takes me back. One time I was 'anging out with a Grey Warden and her pals, making our way to Tevintner. 'Go on and scout ahead' they said, 'fack that, there's a bunch of bloodthirsty Darkspawn over there' I said. But I went over anyway and walked right into the biggest ambush this side of the Empress of Orlais' tits. The Warden and her crew were cut off and I thought I was a gonner but then a bloody cow fell out of the sky and landed on the Darkspawn leader. I made out like a bandit and got the hell out of there and by the time I caught up with the others, they were all dead."

I'd love to import my dead hero from DA:O into this or DA2 but for him to remain dead.

Would be great to play as a new character but in a world shaped by the legacy of your previous hero.

Oh god dont you start. Get enough of that on Biowares forums. "This is an outrage, I cant play as the Orlesian Warden but with my characters choices from Origins?!? I'm not buying this on release!" It would be a good thing, but a nightmare to code I'd guess.

Did anyone else find it odd that

Alistair shows up then buggers off after 5 mins?!? I thought he'd at least have mentioned Anora, and leave some more soldiers for you :)

Between this and your ME2 writings, I think Bioware could do a lot worse than get you to write some of their dialogue; except with Shepard as a man, cuz' everyone knows that the female version is far inferior...

If Ulala ever stopped posting on here then it'd be a crime.

Either that or something to do with the Reapers.

Anyways, I cant play this atm. Sky bloke is currently setting up a Skybox thingy in my room. I hope he's done within the next hour, I wanna play the bloody thing properly ffs.

Hmmm, not quite the same tone as my post you have to agree. Logistics aside it'd be a cool feature, although more appropriate for DA2 perhaps.

Oghren's really grown on me this time around.

A late addition to my party, I really wished I'd got him earlier in DA:O, I thought he was great. Perhaps it was the dwarven camaraderie, but it was great running into battle with another ginger bearded dwarf beside me.

He even named his son after me :)

Oh I wasnt having a go, but theres a massive thread on the bioware DA:A forums about it, and lots of people complaining. Would have been a good addition but I think the xpac was rushed out a little bit.

The dwarf origin stories are far better than the human ones. My surly casteless dual wield warrior Brun and my noble shield wearing warrior Princess Talli are far more interesting than my boring shit-beard human warrior Neph.

But my god, the hands! Everyone, particularly dwarves, have orangutan arms and shovel hands! They look truly ridiculous!

I think I'm going to go back a bit, I hadn't intended to piss everyone off, and I really need someone to protect my squishy mage. If I intended to play through more than once I might have persevered.
