Sony E3 Conference: Done & Dusted

I think it's about time we all stood up and agreed on something. It's done, it's over. The PS3 is leading the way. Home, Flower game, Fat Princess, MAG, it's all there.

Look at DC Universe, they named one of their games after an old crappy Sega console, how amazing is that. That takes balls, balls only Sony have.

Exactly. What I don't get is why Nintendo and MS insist on pumping money into the industry when it's clear that the PS3 will be the tearaway leader come 2012.

The monster in Resistance 2 was MASSIVE. Imagine the polygons on that thing, it was the size of a skyscraper. If I'm not mistaken, possibly the biggest in-game character model in history.

Shadow of the Colossus has plenty of massive creatures. And they were flying. And swimming in the sand. On the PS2!

Anyone that wasn't impressed by that conference doesn't like games. Period.

I don't think anyone wasn't impressed at some point. I was wondering where things were going after the first two conferences, now I know.

Dear Mr Soong,

Thank you for your kind offer of a position as Junior Internet Fanboy for Sony Corporation. As I left my previous post at Nintendo Company Ltd earlier today, I have been in the market for a new benevolent overlord, so I studied your proposal with keen interest. However, I have decided to go and live in a log cabin in Alaska instead, as videogames are fucking shit nowadays. Please direct any further correspondence to the Film and TV folder, where I will mostly be discussing movies made before 1959, back when everything was better.

Kindest Regards,

Graham_S

:(

:D

Sad, but with the bitter ring of truth.

This. Jaw dropping.

Loved the LBP planet thing at the start. I thought it was a pre-rendered video showing the graphs and stuff, but when I realised he was actually playing it, my jaw dropped. Great frame rate, responsive, smooth, the camera flows nicely too. Excellent stuff - and not long now till we get to play it ourselves.

Holy fuck though, R2? Anyone seen my jaw?

I must've dropped it somewhere.

What, for real?

I don't get it.

Technically impressive. But who cares?

It was just a big lump, and the design was fucking awful my-first-big-monster shite.

I had fallen asleep by then.

I really need to stop watching these and just look at the trailers afterward.

The best bit was when he finished his AMAZING story about how he was the first ever person to get the +10 sock of pooping or whatever, and received no applause. I half expected him to walk off stage, head bowed while the Charlie Brown music played.

Seriously though, has there been a boss so large as the one we saw tonight in Resistance 2? At first I actually thought it was a building, but then my jaw just dropped.

The final boss in SotC?

Pfft. But MAG was so much better anyway, even more than GoW3. My jaw. Your floor. DROPPED LIKE A FUCKING BOMB.

It really was. I went from 'WOW!' to 'Meh...' in about 4 seconds flat.
