Just listening to radio 1 and they said "Do you own a Playstation 3? Then you won't like the head of Sony's latest comments from the E3 show in Florida, find out more at 5:45PM" anyone work out what they actually mean?

Actually, I think Gold users only for netflix streaming is better than no pausing for silver members. It feels like you're getting some sort of value for your money that way. It would also have been OK if Silver users had a reduced set of films they could stream or something. But having to pay Microsoft before going for a wee or you'd risk missing a good bit of the film, that would just seem mean.

I haven't looked into it, but can you still access Netflix stuff via a download as a Silver member, instead of it being streamed, so the perk of having a Gold membership being that you'll get to see the film quicker? Or is the whole service only available to Gold members?

I've just watched a couple of Resistance 2 trailers, and are people really excited about the big monster? Really? Not only was it horribly scripted (I wonder if he'll throw you whether you shoot him in the mouth or not), it didn't even look particularly nice. And good to see that instead of fog there was water to help save processing power.

I thought the first title looked better, and big enemies were done better in God of War/Painkiller/Serious Sam. I'm surprised anybody was that impressed by it.

He's an SA Goon, it's the same guy who did that SS:BB delayed video.

This conference wasn't actually that bad in retrospect. Actually watching the thing was dull as dishwater, but I imagine if you just checked up on the info afterwards there'd be quite a lot of cool stuff.

Unplug the phone. Turn off your mobile. Hang up a 'do not disturb' sign on your front door. Go to the toilet. Make sure you've got snacks, but nothing potentially messy that may require a trip to the kitchen. Drinks nearby but in limited supply as to avoid a toilet visit. And then, when everything is ready, press play and let the movie begin, knowing that from this point on, there's no goiing back, no pausing, no rewinding, and that nothing must interupt you. Not even God can stop this movie now.

Oh but, what's this? Watching LOTR, are we? Feeling sleepy, are we? You want to stop the movie and finish watching tomorrow? Ha. What do you think think this is, the magical future where we can pause, rewind and fast-forward as we please?!

Jesus. Why is the richest company in the world so rich? Because it's asking the public to pay a $50 fee to be able to have a feature that was made standard about 30 fucking years ago. And before you go accusing ME of fanboyism, have a word with the people in this thread defending that action! We may not all agree on which console is the 'best', but surely we can all agree that taking away the pause button for poorer customers is nothing short of corporate fucking greed.

They can watch it on their PC or make do with the DVDs that come through the mail. That's what they're paying for, viewing them on the 360 is just a new bonus.

If you want to take advantage of it, you need a gold account. There's no viewing it without pause, rewind or fast forward.

From the Netflix site, because I know you've all researched this before talking cobblers:

Can I instantly watch movies streamed from the Netflix website via my Xbox 360?

Watching instantly on your TV via your Xbox 360 will be available to Netflix members in the late fall of 2008. Watching movies & TV episodes instantly on your TV from Netflix via your Xbox 360 will be included with most plans. You'll choose from a separate, smaller library of over 10,000 movies & TV episodes. With most membership plans, you can watch as many movies from this library as you want - anytime you want - instantly on your PC or via a Netflix ready device on your TV. This will be a bonus to the DVDs you get by mail and will be included with your membership at no additional fee. To watch instantly on your Xbox 360 you will need an Xbox LIVE Gold membership.

So, if you want to access something that was already viewable on the PC, you'll need a Gold membership. I can't quite fathom where the lack of pause comes in to it.

You are a fanboy (well some of your constituents are) - it's why you've been banned from speaking about anything remotely 360vsPS3.

Bluntly put if you can't afford to pay for it you don't get it. You get nothing for nothing in this world whether it's a pause function or a finger of fudge.

Can you define corporate greed for me ?

Because of that ban I don't want to get too involved in this discussion as it could be spun as something it's not. Removing console wars stuff out of the discussion, I think it's greedy as it's an essential, and fundamentally standard feature, which they're presenting as a premium feature. It doesn't cost Microsoft more money to let those people pause. It's a punishment for those who don't get the gold service. It's tantamount to Rllmuk only allowing super members to edit their posts. This'll be the last I say on the matter until Uzi has a say in whether I can discuss this anymore or not.

It's all moot anyway if it turns out Wickedkitten made a mess-up of the details. lol.

It doesn't matter man, people were still justifying leaving out pause for Silver members even though I was wrong.

Incredible! This whole Netflix thing has to be the biggest storm in a teacup I've ever seen picked to death on a forum. More like a whirlpool in a thimble really. Who are all these Rebels Without a Pause who actually care about such a trivial matter? :)

My.

You get far biggest storms in kitchen crockery around here, sometimes.
