In this episode we discuss why we've skipped a fortnight, and I get very excited and interrupt Lewie a lot. VGChartz are mainly responsible.

Episode 0 of the currently untitled SavyGamer podcast has just gone live.

We are mostly looking for feedback at the minute, we are both pretty new to this, so any criticism is appreciated.

You will also have a chance to win $40 of Play-Asia vouchers if you come up with a name for us!

Let me know what you think!

Savy, or Savvy?

Before I listen to it - answer me this. Are you better than the Gamespot UK podcast?

Savy, or Savvy?

We actually answer that very issue early on in the podcast :(

I've already had the editor of IGN Playstation say we are better than some of their podcasts. Never listened to the Gamespot UK podcast myself though.

We are still working on a few things, we are going to have some features, next week, hopefully I will fix the problems with my mic, and I am getting a theme tune done soon.

It was a trick question. 60 minutes of white noise would be better than the Gamespot UK podcast.

I'm downloading it now!

First thing I'd say is get that filesize down. 62MB for just over an hour is a bit much. I'll let you know once I've actually listened to it.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it is so big, I think we wanted to preserve the quality (or at least the quality on Willeth's side)

I'll see about downsampling, or maybe offering two version, low and high quality, if size is an issue.

The SavyGamer RSS feed is now compatible with podcatchers, which (so Willeth tells me) means that you can add it to whatever podcast software you use, like Juice or iTunes, and it will download it automatically whenever we put up a new one.

We are still working on getting it added to iTunes Music Store.

Still plenty of time to enter the naming competition too!

Look forward to it being available via iTunes

In the meantime, the current feed is iTunes compatible and will download the podcast and nothing else. The feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/savygamer and you add it through the Advanced menu, under Subscribe to Podcast.

It's not on the iTunes Store yet because they want my credit card info even though I'm not going to buy anything. If anyone knows if I can do it without this let me know - I'm going to ring Apple on Monday.

Heh, we will get good interviews as and when we can, we were pretty lucky to get him.

I'm sure he's doing a pretty busy circuit of websites and podcasts now, so I'm sure you're right.

There must be a ton of indie (and not so indie) devs out there that are willing to share their opinions, keep on digging :(

Actually, now you mention it.

I have a request for you guys now. I know that there are a whole bunch of well connected people on here.

If you, or you know anyone who works in the games industry (not so much journalism, I mean like development, publishing or retail), who would be

A. Interesting to hear an interview of and

B. Up for it,

I would love it if you either PM me, or email me at lewiep at savygamer dot co dot uk with their contact details.

I think if we can keep the momentum going with these interviews, it could really set The SavyGamer Podcast apart from a lot of the other podcasts out there.
