Too much hype, must steer clear from this thread as it sounds like it might make me go a bit crazy with anticipation, I'm going to pretend it's going to be shit so I can just casually happen across it and be really pleasantly surprised....

I tried that when I first heard about it. Didn't work. The game looks too awesome and seems to be ticking far too many of the right boxes. :)

edit: :P

Here's the unedited clip from the GDC demonstration.

 It looks so good, so promising... almost too good to be true. If the proper campaign always lets you use either stealth or action, whatever you prefer in any given situation, then the game is made of pure win.

I'm as hyped as Gerbik ^_^

I'm even more hyped now after watching that second clip! It's next-gen ninja-stealth with the goddamn Batman! :P

Dammit.

After all of my intentions to not get too excited I just watched that second clip.

What? This actually looks like a really, really good game, let alone a good Batman game, I think I'd enjoy the stuff he was doing and how he was doing it if it was in splinter cell or something but the fact it's the Bat as well.... It must have something wrong with it, or only be about one hour long. I'm sure the campaign will be crap. Or it will melt my 360, or the controls will be stupid.

Must... not... get... too... excited...

I think that was a concern Edge brought up - that the game would be too rigidly split into stealth rooms, action rooms and detective rooms. It'd be disappointing if that's the case, but given how promising everything else about it looks, I don't think it'd ruin the game.

Maybe, but it's about time someone brought up a genuine cynical concern - this is Rllmuk after all. I'm hoping for a Riddick-like adventure in Arkham Asylum, with the stealth gameplay always being an option like in Riddick. We shall see, but what we've seen so far looks nothing less than brilliant.

Just watched the unedited version, looks like it could promise to be a very good game indeed. Any word of a release date as yet?

Early June iirc.

That has tempered my enthusiasm some what, rooms with related abilities sounds more like the crap I'd expect.... You want arkham as a free roaming place with areas locked off depending on level / abilities in a simlar way to a resi mansion or the hub area of Splinter cell double agent or whatever it was called and each 'wing' or something that consists of a chapter being achievable by way of stealth, violence, detective work or a mixture of the three, or something.

Not 'here's a stealth bit' and 'this is a fighting level' but surely they can't have done that?? With any luck we'll get a combine ingredients to make the joker's serum like that daft bit in the Amiga game of the film.

See look, now I've got carried away by the hype and I'm going to expect it to be some sort of magical land of Batman based excitement and abilities but it will turn out that the video demo will be one level of a challenge section of the game and the rest of it will actually be a Gears of War clone dressed as Batman and he'll have Bat guns or something ridiculous. And there will be an on rails bat bike bit.

Bear in mind the video is from trials like missions. We havn't really seen how the single player, plays. But from the write up's it seem it is free roaming, but with areas locked off.

I really hope so! If that's true then I'm calling it right motherfucking now: GotY 2009 for sure. You can quote me on that (if what you say is true of course)

I refuse to believe it's really as good as it seems to be.

Or the ever changing AI and different ways of doing things will actually all be impractical and only one method will actually 'work'.

Please be good though, please.

Damn straight, I just keep getting over excited and then disappointed by what turns up. That's one of the worst things of looking at this forum regularly, you end up hearing about a game so early that by the time it finally comes out, you've got this vision in your head of something that probably wouldn't even be remotely possible on the current hardware.

We can but dream.

The worst thing about this forum is the hype everyone makes for a game and then the backlash of acid-filled hatred launched at it after it didnt meet up to the expectations they had in their head, and it didn't come round and cook their tea, do the dishes and toss them off before bed.
