Been over 24 hours now so I'll leave out the spoiler tags.

Incredible KO. Griffin vs Evans should be a good tear up.

Thats 3 losses out of his last 4 fights for Chuck. Its not looking good for him at this level anymore sadly. Its a shame but maybe one or two more then retirement for him ? I've always been a huge fan of his and Chuck's quest to fight Tito [with Tito ducking him for two years] then their eventual fight is one of the things which made me a MMA fan in the first place.

Franklyn beat Hammill pretty easily I gotta say. I was not expecting that. Light heavy is stacked atm with great fighters so he has a long way to go but its a great start.

Yeah it was a good fight, I still can't stand Evans though. I reckon Forrest will beat him should he get a title shot. Not sure what is next for Chuck though, at this stage in his career there probably isn't much point in working your way up the rankings again so I expect we'll see a couple of marquee fights before he retires.

Was impressed with Franklin though, he dominated Hamill and his experience really shone through. Will be interesting to see who they put him up against next, I doubt they'd throw him in agains one of the 'big ones' until he's had another fight at this weight.

One thing that did really annoy me, and more so than it usually does was the complete bias of the commentators in the "Angry"() Matt Brown against the South Korean guy fight. They always favour the American fighters but this was off the scale, they made Andy Gray look like an ambassador for unbiased sports commentry.

brown won that fight though..

i think hamill was star struck against an opponent he respected too much...he did absolutely nothing after tearing through his last bunch of opponents, and he obviously decisioned bisping and was robbed. pleased for rashad but come on, forrest will destroy him after wins over shogun, rampage etc...evans a 185 fighter, it could be forrests 1st ever easy victory.

I've made this mistake a million times and have learned that you should never ever underestimate Rashad Evans -_- . Griffin was ko'd by Keith Jardine who trains with Evans as well not to long ago.

Speaking of Jardine he would be a good test and a great fight for Rich Franklyn.

possibly, he had him all over with back control, i guess thats the problem with the 10 point system

Yeah, part of the problem is that its all 'new' to a lot of the judges and I have no idea of there are actually any proper guides for them to follow other than 'takedown = good'.

Jardine is a funny one though, if he gets into a groove early and gets his striking working he can be excellent, but if he doesn't he tends to struggle. I would expect Forrest to beat him 4/5 times but even so he is enjoyable to watch. You're right about franklin too, that could be a good match.

Yup, very sad news ;) RIP Evan

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Evan Tanner was found dead in the mountain area near Palo Verde, Calif. on Monday. He was 37 years old. His management team at the Driving Force Sports management agency confirmed his death to MMAWeekly.com.

Tanner had trekked into the desert on a journey to “cleanse” himself, according to Douglas Vincitorio of Tanner’s management team. “He went out to the desert to do a ‘cleansing’ as he called it. Kind of like ‘Survivor Man.’” These short trips were not new to Tanner, said Vincitorio. It is something that he has done numerous times over the years.

“What we were told is that (sheriff’s officials who found him) believe his motorcycle had run out of gas, so he went to walk out in like 115 to 118-degree heat,” said Vincitorio. “He was miles away from his camp. That’s where the helicopter found him. Right now, they just think that he succumbed to the heat.”

(UPDATE)

Lt. George Moreno of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department has reported that Tanner set out treasure hunting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, asking friends to call for help if he didn’t return right away. Lt. Moreno says friends called the Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Sept. 5, and search and rescue teams looked for him throughout the weekend in temperatures up to 114 degrees.

The U.S. Marines used a helicopter to search by air Monday morning, finally spotting a body two miles from the campground where Tanner’s belongings were found earlier, according to Lt. Moreno. While a coroner has yet to confirm the body is Tanner’s, John Hayner, the owner at Driving Force Sports, says people close to to the fighter visually identified his body at the scene.

On Aug. 10, Tanner wrote a blog on Spike TV’s website, proclaiming his desire to start an adventure in the desert east of his new home in Oceanside, Calif. An avid outdoorsman and wandering spirit, he wanted to escape civilization for a while.

“I'm not just going out into the desert, I'm going out into the desert to hunt for lost treasure,” he wrote. “I'm going on a pilgrimage of sorts, a journey to solitude, to do some thinking, and to pay my respects to the great mysteries.”

On Aug. 16, Tanner wrote about collecting supplies for his journey, and wrote about the dangers he might face.

“I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment, could cost me my life,” he said. “I've been doing a great deal of research and study. I want to know all I can about where I'm going, and I want to make sure I have the best equipment.”

Of course, this led followers of his blog to fear for his safety, as they often did when Tanner reported his frequent by-the-seat-of-his-pants adventures. In a blog dated Aug. 27, Tanner tried to calm his audience.

“This isn't a version of ‘Into the Wild,’” he wrote. “I'm not going out into the desert with a pair of shorts and a bowie knife, to try to live off the land. I'm going fully geared up, and I'm planning on having some fun.”

But he also affirmed that things could go wrong if his equipment wasn’t up to snuff.

“I do plan on going back pretty far, so I did mention in one of my posts that I wanted to make sure to have good quality gear,” he said. “Any failure of gear out in the desert could cause a problem.”

On Sept. 2, Tanner wrote his final blog entry, documenting a training session at a facility in Oceanside.

The Amarillo, Texas native was a high school wrestling stand out who won the state championships his junior and senior years despite only getting into the sport as a sophomore. He entered mixed martial arts in 1997 encouraged by friends.

Tanner rose to the top of the mixed martial arts world by winning the UFC middleweight title over David Terrell at UFC 51: "Super Saturday" Feb. 5, 2005. Tanner last competed in the UFC on June 21 losing to Kendall Grove by split decision.

“He will obviously be sorely missed,” said Vincitorio. Adding, “I think that Evan would want to be remembered as a very complex man with many layers, not just a fighter.”

Tanner was surely a unique personality. He’s eclectic spirit and competitive nature will be sorely missed in the MMA community.

I've been to a few Cage Rage events. There pretty fucking shambolic tbh. They are the biggest European MMA organization sadly. Alot of the guys they book are former bouncer types lacking skills and you end up with alot of shitty brawls between fat bastards.

I've been to tons of boxing events over the years but never have I seen a crowd as moody as the Cage Rage ones. Its just full of drug dealers and cockney gangster types. There was almost a full scale riot at the first one i went to and almost non stop fights going of all over the place. Its run by a idiotic Dave Courtney wannabe too.

On the other hand, I DID get to see Anderson Silva fight at Cage Rage before he was a massive name...

He was utterly awesome as well

Which fight\s you get to see of his when he was over here ? The first show I went to was when he battered Lee Murray. Some idiot in our section threw a glass bottle at the cage at the end and it kicked of with security just wading in attacking everyone around us. We made our exits pretty sharpish.

RIP Evan Tanner. He was a great fighter and seemed a nice bloke in interviews.

The Kimbo Slice\Shamrock fight didn't go ahead. Instead they go some guy that was on the Ultimate Fighter to step it, not only that but they paid the guy extra to stand up and fight and not take Kimbo to the ground, cause he's better standing up and fighting. Back fired though and their precious Kimbo got TKO'd in 13 seconds.

This is the fight if anyone wants to see it.

Has anyone else been watching the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter ?

Junie Browning is acting so idiotic he is making Chris Leben look like a well balanced, level headed fighter. He is the biggest car crash I think I have ever seen on any reality show.

I don't get it. I don't see where Kimbo gets hit. He just seems to collapse without impact. And I thought I'd seen him prove he had a strong jaw. Am I victim of the hype? Am I missing something? That fight just seems weird.

If you have a look on MMA root, they have a video of the fight from a slightly different angle to all the others and it's a combination of a push kick and a short hard punch that puts him down. The push gives Kimbo quite a bit of forward momentum into the punch and it does jar his head quite hard despite being really short. It was hard enough to leave him with quite a nasty cut.

Predictions for this Saturday? Much as I like Bisping, I can't see him beating Leben. I'd love to be wrong though.

And yeah, I've been watching it - Junie needs shooting. I can't believe he wasn't kicked out after episode 3.

Grim, wasn't it? Good to see another arrogant prick on team Mir being taken down a peg or three - or not, if the teaser for this week's is anything to go by.

I lolled at the first prank because the reaction was comedy gold, the 2nd prank though :P
