What a card.

The Shogun win was great to see!  Fantastic combo - not bad for a guy with no conditioning. ;p

Hope Shogun goes to 185lbs now that he's on a decent win streak. I'm confident he could smash through the middleweight division even at this stage in his career.

Spoiler

Shogun vs Gastelum? Thatd be a great first 185lb fight for Shogun and real test for Kelvin

That Barbosa knee continues to make him one of the most marketable in the division. Watching him is like watching prime Aldo in terms of excitement. Probably even more exciting.

At first glance, I'd thought the Belfort stoppage was early, but in the replay he looked pretty done. Frantic, but done.

Gastelum is something seriously interesting in the MW division. Has to be knocking on the door of a Machida or Weidman next. If Weidman ever gets a win again.

Spoiler

Imagine Barbosa fighting Conor, thatd be insane and itd be a good match up for Edson i think. Realisticly maybe Alvarez or Ferguson next?

Barboza is on great little run. Pettis, Giblert and Dariush. He was getting out striked here tbh then boom, one of the KO's of the year.

Gastelum looked fantastic. Fast, hard hitting and way to much for Vitor. The Anderson Silva call out was smart too. He is taking out some name guys before jumping in with the Top 5 who are all monsters. He still seems a little small at 5'9 but he is stocky. He seems a far happier fighter not having to cut any weight and seems a better fighter for it.

Sonnen said in the build up that due to gastelums square build he was impossible to hit in training for guys in the middleweight range. Nobody rocked him as when he covered up/tucked his chin in, he could block every shot. So far that seems to be exactly how things are playing out. The bigger guys have to go for uppercuts/low shots leaving themselves wide open for an overhand left. I think he'll challenge for the belt eventually.

Agreed, fun event. The Rua fight looked like a couple of dads in a car park fighting over a sandwich, but Gastelum looked awesome again. Love his hand speed, great striking, he can wrestle, I think he can do some damage at 185. Barboza KO was good but that fight was still competitive, Dariush is game, he just made a silly error dropping his chin anywhere near Barbozas knees of doom. Nice to see actual correct judges decisions in Brazil too, a rarity.

Vitor is retiring after his next fight. Glad to see him call it a day. For all the hate about TRT / roids he was from an era when everyone was doing it. Also seems the way he came off TRT (cold turkey) has seriously damaged his body. Heard Rogan discuss this before saying it was ridiculous the way the doctors handled that whole situation; no gradual step off, he just stopped and still tried to compete.

I think Bisping would walk through him, although hes booked up. Was funny on Rogans fight companion, they asked Eddie Bravo about that drunken argument, Bravo said they're pals and Mike was just drunk and misunderstood something he said, no big thing.

BBC documentary about MMA fighters weight-cutting.

It's insane what they routinely put their bodies through, risking their health & potentially their lives in the process. There's already been several deaths attributable to weight cuts & there'll be more. Something has to give.

Blame the Americans and wrestling culture. Barely anyone in Pride cut weight as it was seen as dishonorable. I think this is why there's barely any japanese fighters now.

How far in was that? wouldn't mind hearing how that went down.

I just read it on mmafighting, I'm guessing he announced it in the presser.

And..barely 3 days later....

Has anyone seen the ONE card yet?

One need to sort their online presence out. More fights on their channel like bellator did in the beginning. Heard the last few have been brill.

One is not so easy to watch Hellcock. Only way I guess is torrents on private trackers, I seen it on one I use but my ratio needs work atm. Unless its streamed somewhere ?

I don't think its on Fight Pass either. As Stevedave said I hear good things its just a pain finding it here.

I'd do a deal with the UFC and get it on Fight Pass in the West. Pancrase, Invicta, Cage Warriors etc do that.

That might sound insulting to them though as they like to bill themselves as Asia's number 1 MMA organization. They have made zero inroads in the west though. No one here cares and thats sad when they have guys like Ben Askren.

I don't think UFC would allow it, they are their main competitors in Asia I would imagine.

ONE definitely make noise like they are. Is there much to back it up? Can't find much in the way of PPV buys or recent attendence figures. I remember Kunlun being a big deal in China a couple of years ago, but they've gone quiet too. Think they may have been kickboxing only.

I always see ONE as a Sengoku or a DEEP. But that's likely because of their lack of coverage over here.
