BJ Penn v Denis Siver set for june along with Hendricks vs Boetsch

Just saw that... surprised to see BJ Penn going again after his comeback, well... didn't exactly go to plan. Can only guess the numbers for his fight in January were decent.

UFC has added events in Glasgow (16th July), Rotterdam (2nd September) and Gdansk (21st October) to their calendar. Assuming if Jedrzejczyk gets past Andrade the Gdansk date could see her rematch with Kowalkiewicz. Based on previous trips to Poland, can imagine a UFC event would be a great atmosphere, and a fun weekend.

Penn landed 4 strikes to Yairs 111. What in the bejesus makes him think he can even be competitive at this point.

I meant Siver will land it on Penn, im maybe wrong but Siver has a good turning sidekick hasnt he?

No I agree, Siver has a decent chance. I'm more questioning BJ Penn still fighting after getting destroyed that badly.

Bellator are really kicking into high gear which is great as it will hopefully make it a real alternative to the UFC. Larkin is getting an immediate title shot against Lima.

Sorry to be picky mate nothing personal, just your statement contradicts itself immediately. Bellator kicking into high gear, and Larkin getting an immediate title shot can't co exist in the same world, it just shows how shallow Bellator still is.  I agree it's great seeing fighters leave the UFCs clutches, but until someone like Anderson Silva or Holyfield Holmes does it, it's never going to make too much of a dent.

Larkin deserved a title shot in the UFC - it's not a desperation move. More than likely just a savvy contract negotiation and Rory already being tied up.

I *really* hope he wins the belt. Up until now, everyone that has chosen to leave the UFC (bar Davis) has looked less than great. That supports a narrative that UFC let them go because they're past their best. Larkin's just hitting his stride, and I hope he becomes a superstar over there. You have to imagine Hendricks could join them in the future, since he has a fractious relationship with the UFC too.

He maybe deserved a title shot eliminator bout but I think full on title shot is a bit strong (in the UFC). I agree it's a shame everyone who has crossed (and I would include davis in that) has been less than stellar. Hendricks is an idiot, I'd be happy to never watch him again. If he's not blaming deer meat for his weight cut issues (when everyone knows its USADA), he's talking crap to the media and being utterly deluded.

I think after Magny beat Gastelum and Lombard, I considered their fight to be something of an eliminator. In a less stacked division, it definitely would've been.

Davis has looked great since leaving - it's just that Bellator LHWs mostly suck. I hope he's champ forever there.

The only way to minimise the impact AKA fighters have on the events they drop out of?

Put them all on the same event.

I'm talking about the AKA OPENWEIGHT TOURNAMENT.

Book it Dana. It's both punishment and a money-saver.

(As a side note, if Dana wants to put more Conor/WWE style promotion in place, they really should make a bigger deal of the teams in MMA. The drama writes itself. Then, when you get some weirdo with their own team, they're the badass Lone Wolf.

Also, Taverdyan would be a great pantomime villain.)
