Glory Kickboxing is worth a look tonight. Alistair Overeem vs Badr Hari part 3. 13 years after their last fight with each other. Both those fights ended by stoppage in the 1st. First was won by Overeem, the 2nd by Hari. They are both pretty much shot to pieces nowadays but they will come out swinging. I'd be amazed if this gets out the 1st, so expect fireworks.

Will be shortly :)

I’m a bit fairweather with UFC at the minute, but will jump in for the three main fights.

Same mate; big Dillashaw fan though, and actually super intrigued by O'Malley Vs. Yan.

Seems like a really massive step up for O'Malley who's got that dead 'em power in his right, but Yan's such a beast.

Can't wait to see what the Dillashaw - Sterling fight looks like. Hope TJ blitzes him.

Yeah, it’s a proper test for Sugar Sean, Yan is far above anything he’s faced so far. Yan also looked steely eyed at the presser; he’s a scary dude even for a bantamweight.

Was a Dillashaw fan, probably still am because all that changed was he got popped. I don’t think he’s the only dirty athlete in MMA, so would be unfair of me to turn on him when I’m fairly adamant most elite fighters are doing what he got caught for in some shape or form.

Sterling is pretty fortunate to be champion, and Yan Vs Dillashaw, potentially early next year if both win tonight, could be a fight for the ages.

Definitely. I think that's been the most interesting fight in the division for way over a year now.

Oh. Wow. Judges

Suppose R1 was close… but the fight stats favoured Yan, who I thought deserved it 29-28. Would like to see how Verdict had it.

I see first for O'Malley, but fucfdgsdfg! 5 would've been off the hook. Gutted.

Sterling must be the luckiest champ on the planet. Actually, that’s harsh because he’s a decent fighter but winning the belt via DQ, winning the rematch via a split, then having the best in division suffer a dislocation in the build-up tonight, he’s certainly got some powerful lucky charms.

He is a great fighter and the level of hate I see for him on Twitter I think goes way too far. He then says stuff like "no one has ever done what I did to TJ before" and I just cringe. He does not help himself.

Totally agree that the hate is OTT, and also that he doesn’t help himself

But hey, he’s the champion so I guess he can do whatever he likes.

Will Suga get one more fight? Had he finished Yan I’d say give him a shot but a tight win probably warrants one more eliminator, possibly even a rematch with Yan like you said above.

Ahh man. Well, might get Yan and TJ. Shame though.

Would have been an epic title fight but I’d still take it as an eliminator assuming TJ can get surgery and come back before the title picture has changed again.

Yan is a nasty fighter, and I mean that very much as a compliment. Such a well-rounded athlete.

Yup, I wasn't expecting that to look so straight forward for Islam. Oliviera didn't seem himself but Makachev seems the real deal and I dunno who has a chance.

Bloody Aljo must be one of the luckiest fighters ever. TJs shoulder dislocating after 10s is mad, but Sterling couldn't finish him for round and a half.

I guess O'malley is next? He didn't win that fight for me, at all. Landed some good shots but Yan landed bigger and had all those TDs and control, joke decision.

Yan got robbed, but the UFC is prone to some convenient judging when they have a star in the ascendancy.

Looking forward to Volkanowski/Makhachev, but I suspect it'll be an instance where an absolute legend in their own division gets made to look very ordinary in another.

Every media member, 36, plus the 4 on Ringer MMA including Helwani all had it for Yan, 2 of 43 had for O'malley. Disgrace and soured the event for me.

Volk v Makachev should be very interesting.

Was already writing a ‘valiant defeat for O’Malley doesn’t harm his progress’ post, then that happened.

Verdict, the consensus scoring app, also scored it for Yan 29.2 Vs 27.8, essentially a 29-28. As soon as Buffer read the first score and judge’s name to indicate a split was coming, something felt fishy.

Still, maybe the butterfly effect is TJ Vs Yan for the number one spot, which as said before is about as good a fight the UFC can make in 2023.

Yeah I couldn't believe TJ's post-fight interview. Quite irresponsible from all parties really, but I guess he knew he was lucky to be getting the title shot in the first place after his injuries, PEDs and the lucky Sandhagen victory.  A very similar one happened to Aaron Pico in Bellator the other week, horrible to watch.

O'Malley's post fight interview was bizarre too. The guy seemed shellshocked, looked like he wanted to go home and cry rather than shooting pretend fadeaways and spouting catchphrases.
