I think O'Malley was shellshocked. He had a real fight for the first time in his career, got properly rocked, properly ragdolled, landed some good shots of his own but Yan was still there, still countering and still dominating on the ground. He lost, he knows it, but he won.

These Paul brothers fights are all scams. Everyone's got too much skin in the game to actually bust either of them up. Then the judges finish the job.

I do appreciate that combat sports have always been riddled with this kind of thing, but the Paul Brothers are the golden geese. And people are smart enough not to slay them.

Part of me feels like Vitor wouldn't give a shit and go for blood, but I also suspect Vitor's never seen a cheque the size the Paul brothers can offer for a fight and rematch.

That’s the rub. I wonder what kind of money it would take for Jake to fight someone ranked?  He’s fighting at Cruiser at the moment which is not very glamorous at all and he’s gonna be the biggest name on any card. No way does he go to go heavy or he gets murdered, he’d probably be capable of cutting to 175 if he absolutely had to but he’s not gonna step to Bivol or Beterbiev is he so why bother? Keep knocking down cans for millions instead.

I don't get that. Are you trying to say he threw the fight?

Logan Paul is 0-1-2. He has never won a fight. I would be surprised if he ever went back to boxing as he is doing WWE stuff now.

I thought Jake Paul beat Anderson Silva fair and square. There was no robbery. It was a close fight then Silva got knocked on his arse in the last round to seal it. Doubt Jake fights a legit boxer anytime soon. I'd expect a Diaz brother, KSI or Tommy Fury next.

I'm saying that the goal of a contest against a Paul brother is not to win a fight. It is to generate income for yourself.

Nobody's trying to actually put Paul brothers away.

The commentary was absolutely shocking in terms of bigging up Jake's thrown (and wildly missed) shots as somehow competitive with Silva slipping almost everything and landing plenty.

It's not boxing in the purest sense, but it is a spectacle that is getting some people I like paid. So it's not the worst thing in the world.

Logan Paul 'drew' with Mayweather. That's more win than most professional boxers would ever legitimately get. It's pantomime.

Not sure how long he'll stick with WWE though. Even their highest paid stars don't make the money he does, and it's more work. Nobody pulls in eight figures in a pro-wrestling match, but he can do it in a boxing ring whenever he feels like it.

The Mayweather fight was a draw because it was an exhibition with no judges. He lost by a massive margin to anyone watching.

The first draw with KSI was a robbery tbh though. So he has basically lost every fight. His 15 minutes as a boxer has been used up. He is not making $10 million fighting anyone unless its like Canelo. I mean Jake, who is the far bigger star has admitted his last two fights tanked on PPV. Logan has used up any name value he had as a boxer.

Jake may have the more boxing-centric career, but he is absolutely not the bigger star of the two in terms of their global appeal.

Logan Paul never had any name value as a boxer, and he doesn't need any either. Whoever he gets his hype machine behind will get a huge payday, if he ever wants to box again. Assuming he actually focussed on the one thing, rather than forty things at once.

The guy may not be a draw to boxing fans, but I doubt he cares. He's a draw to much bigger gen Z markets.

I'm not trying to suggest this is in any way about legitimacy in the sport. It's the opposite. But I wouldn't bet against him being notably more popular than any living boxer at this moment in time.

Hyped for tonight after too many shit Apex events and YouTuber freakshows.

So what are we thinking? Does Izzy finally become unstuck against his former nemesis or does Pereira get schooled in top level MMA? Personally I would love to see the title change hands, Adesanya has become stale and I haven't enjoyed a fight of his for a while.

Poirier vs Chandler should be carnage too.

Hopefully Adesanya gets it done in true Izzy fashion. Exciting, though - knowing that Pereira's got that one shot power, and a quality toolset. Be great to Adesanya get the arsenal going.

Poirier Vs Chandler is a quality bout. Going with Dustin just on sheer technical ability in his hands. Chandler said he'll just get out there and have it but he's probably got a much better chance for the W if he wanted to keep the action going and get some grappling in.

Great to see Weili Zhang back for the strawweight belt. Would be really surprised if it's not super one sided.

Good card all round really, Dan Hooker, Dominick Reyes on the undercard.

No idea what's gonna happen in the main event, which is a good thing I reckon. As long as its a good fight I'll be happy.

Zhang will probably get it done against Esparza I reckon, she's so much bigger and very well rounded. There's a clip I saw of Welli lifting up Ngannou with a high crotch, Mega strong.

Poirier v Chandler I'm super-excited for, both great fighters with some genuine animosity it seems. Not sure whose gonna win but surely a brawl ensues.

Think Izzy will have too much in an MMA bout, but expect the main to be a cagey affair. Would be shocked if Zhang doesn’t KO Esparza, and similarly disappointed if Chandler Poirier isn’t a fight of the year candidate.

Half-tempted to set an alarm but more likely will watch first thing in the morning.

That was a really good main card.  Had it recorded - I can’t do late nights any more - but very enjoyable to see all the fights in a concentrated blast this morning.

Spoiler

Poor Frankie - that was rough.

Thought Hooker he was in trouble with the legs in the first. Wonder who he will get next - he’s been so active, probably back in April.

Chandler was doing well until the gas tank completely went. Poirier looks very beatable now though - he was in trouble at points. Dustin had a good moan afterward.

Glad to see Zhang take out Esparza - her transitions during the takedow attempts were really good.

Thought Izzy had it in the bag until nope! That’s a rematch I’m guessing

That was a great UFC card top to bottom

Spoiler

Hooker looked decent again. I thought he might be done after all the battles he’s had over his career and looking a bit rough recently. Give me him vs Chandler next for some more chaos.

Chandler predictably did Chandler stuff, he’s a madman. Dustin just had a bit too much for him. Dustin is such a confidence fighter. Compare him in this to the last McGregor fight and him vs Khabib. Against Khabib I thought he never really believed he would win. With a bit more confidence I think he had a good chance as he’s got massively powerful straight punches and if he’d have let them go and hurt Khabib he could have maybe stopped him
Pereira winning is good news as hopefully the book him vs Bobby Knuckles for his first defence as I think that would make a great fight.

Hooker was his debut UFC fight mate. Put him out with a huge left hook.

Poirier's awesome. Genuinely think he's one of the top 5 in the company. Watching his ascent has been f'ing unreal.

Yeah, that first round of Poirier Chandler was wild. Diamond has a chin to match his nickname, he ate a couple of bombs and still came back strong.

The women’s strawweight belt has become such a hot potato, although no surprise it changed hands last night. Will be interesting to see who Zhang fights next. She has the skillset to be a dominant champion, but feel like there’s something missing with her.

Adesanya will get a rematch, although he’s got to be shook by Pereira. Guess there’s a ready-made redemption arc for the rematch promo. UFC’s probably due a trip to Brazil, and a middleweight title bout would be a decent headliner.

Molly meatball had the  rowd on her side pity she got demolished, her oppo whose name escapes seems super-legit. Molly put up a fight and did well to kinda escape but she was given soooo much time in the crucifix position.

Yeah, a lot of people alluded to the fact that she's a NY state native, too. Only 23, absolutely demolished her, and social media is absolutely ripping Molly to pieces over it.

McCann had been on a run but it wasn't even a contest.

Holy shit - that is no age :(

His LHW run in the UFC was great fun - the potential of him fighting JJ was exciting, until the fight when DC survived a gigantic uppercut, took Rumble down and he couldn’t get back up and of course the Jones fight never happened.
