Dont ever take tips from me either.

Rogan made a comment about people writing Mir off after his crash, I was one. He's looked awful ever since then. Even in his win over Lesnar he looked gash but that was possibly the best I've seen him fight. Shame for Nog though, he looked so old and slow.... even more than normal.

Looks like Wanderlei is done, he'll always continue to put on great fights but he's just not the same as the Pride days. He always looks a bit tentative and doesnt seem to be able to take a punch anymore.

Got the first two fights right but really gutted Forrest lost. Who is up to face Evans next then?

Probably Rampage but I'd like to see Machida given he chance if he gets past Thiago Silva. Those two might not make for the most exciting fight but its time the UFC stopped burying him because he's not popular.

Well, despite having some interest in it this is the first time I've properly watched a UFC show, as big boxing fan I was worried it might be a bit unregulated and scrappy, either that or all "show" like wrestling.

How wrong I was. Really good, I love the fact that it is quite unpredicatable and the "blink and you miss it" fast finishes. Awesome. Quite looking forward to the 360 game now.

Worst night of my life.

Wanderlei was subject to GBH, and Frank fucking MIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! knocked out Nog. What. The. Fuck!!!! I am so gutted.

I'll give credit to Mir for this fight, but also am upset at seeing how rapidly Nog seems to be aging. That's the worst performance I've ever seen from him - no power, speed, attempts at takedowns, had no answer for Mir's uppercuts or anything... just a complete punch-bag...

A sad day for MMA. I don't think Nog will last much longer... the only silver lining for me is that this should set up Nog v Randy...

Let Wednesday's K-1 Dynamite!! wash away the bitter resentment I have over the closing few events in 2008...

http://www.k-1.co.jp/k-1gp/btop.htm

Card of the year, with a few more fights till possibly to be added (they were aiming at about 20 so there's a few slots left)

The HW top 10 is a complete mystery now. Here's what it was Pre-UFC 92

1. Fedor Emelianenko

2. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

3. Josh Barnett

4. Andrei Arlovski

5. Randy Couture

6. Tim Sylvia

7. Gabriel Gonzaga

8. Fabricio Werdum

9. Mirko Filipovic

10. Brock Lesnar

Now though...? I'd say they don't change, but depending on his performance on NYE, you'd bump Cro Cop for Randy, replace Couture with Mir, and possibly shove Werdum down into an 8-10 position. Despite a career-low performance last night, I don't think you could have any real justification for taking Nog out of the #2 spot at the moment.

I'm glad Forrest got beat - it broke my heart to see Shogun tap to the guy, and he got very lucky against Rampage, not even really winning the fight imo, so it's good to see him taken down. Rashad is a slow starter though, and very boastful... I think he better get his act together if he's going to be champion.

The LHW title belt is going to change hands as much as any title in history soon

Chuck to Rampage

Rampage to Griffin

Griffin to Evans

(Evans to Machida)

(Machida retains/Machida to Rampage)

Anderson Silva/Shogun/etc?

What a division.

Satoshi Ishii was at UFC last night (2008 olympic gold medal winner in the 100kg men's judo championships)... he's going to train at either ATT or Xtreme Couture in January, and hopes to make his debut in the UFC HW division late 2009/early 2010. Hope he can round his game well enough because there's not enough judo in MMA.

One thingi didnt get at all was thi sinterim heavyweight title thing, wtf was was going on? WHy is that still as issue since Lesnar beat RAndy?

Nogeuira had the HW title when Randy was fighting his legal battles with the UFC - he was out for almost a year. Seeing a quick buck, the UFC went for Brock Lesnar v Randy Couture once Couture announced that he was coming back, rather than waiting on Nog to fight Mir (already scheduled because of The Ultimate Fighter) and giving the winner of that fight the first title defence. It wouldn't be fair to simply strip Nogeuira of his belt & hand it back to Randy immediately (especially as Nogeuira would, and I'm sure soon will defeat Couture.)

Lesnar will fight Mir again some time in 2009 to unify the titles - it sort of set up a mini 4 man tournament to the title though, good move in respect to story-line and PPV potential. I was more than 100% certain that Nogeuira would've won easily. Earth-shatteringly incorrect assumption...

Bring on Fedor v Arlosvki on January 24th... we'll soon enough have another outstanding example of who really is the best HW mixed martial artist in the world when that day comes.

Very good UFC all around I thought. I'm very supirsed Mir won but he looked VERY good and I'm really looking forward to the Lesnar rematch. Hope Lesnar smashes him though :).

Not happy Evan won, even though he's got a good MMA record there's something about him I don't really like. Much more of a Forrest fan.

Didn't expect Wanderlei to get knocked out, but I was looking for a Rampage win so happy he won. Didn't like how Rampage took a few shots on him when he was on the floor, that was clearly on purpose, you could tell Silva was out before he hit the floor. Rogan tried to make excuses and say Rampage was just pumped up, but I think it was down to the hatred they have for each other.

Yeah but at the same time, if I'd just knocked Wandy down (could if I wanted to...I just don't want to, that's all), I'd make damn sure he wasn't going to get back up in a hurry - he's not a man to take any kind of chance with. It's a shame because I really like him, but I just don't think UFC suits him. Much as I don't like Mir, I was impressed by how respectful he was after the fight - he looked really good too. Very sharp and mobile for his size and weight. I don't know what was up with Nog but he really didn't seem his usual self. Good card though and my tickets for London in February came just before Christmas!

Pretty much agree with this bar the wrasslin comment. What a great night, just watched this and this is my first UFC PPV and can safely say i'll be tuning in again. I heard alot about Nog before watching but man saw nothing there tonight. Watched the preview before hand, thought he would take the blows and just pretty much wait for submission. It was like De La Hoya, he had nothing there

All I can say is, I hope Lesnar knocks Mir the fuck out :) When can we expect to see this fight? Also how regular do these guys fight in a year?

Rampage, seems like the 'heel' of UFC. Entertaining guy, loved the build up to this match with him and Silva

Again watching the preview I was rooting for Griffin, shame he lost out. First two rounds his then bam!

Good stuff, I can get used to this UFC shit :(

It's mixed martial arts btw, please get out of the habit of calling it UFC asap, because it'll stick, and there's a whole world of MMA outside of the UFC, even if Dana White tells you otherwise!

Tonnes of fights from the K-1 Dynamite!! card here...

http://freemma.110mb.com/k1/dynamite2008.htm

Some changes to the card though: Jerome Le Banner out of the fight with Mark Hunt, Melvin Manhoef in. Hansen v Calvacante cancelled.

Some great fights, and pleanty more shocking results. Get watching!

Cant wait for this, its an excellent card topped off with an awesome main event, although i cant see Arlosvki doing anything of note against Fedor. As much as a great fighter Arlovski is, i can see Fedor destroying him pretty quickly in the first round. Just the build up waiting to see it is good enough though, even if it doesnt last very long :)

Allow me to explain...

...I can't explain.

Nah, Bob Sapp is just a massive bag of steroids, and used to fight K-1 kickboxing and MMA. He's really just all power and not much skill, but has still managed to defeat some excellent opponents. He just gasses quickly and has a questionable heart. He is a big name in Japan, and that's really the only reason he was fighting. The NYE card in Japan is just total over the top fantasy match-making, and quite frequently packed with freak show fights.

The guy in the suit was sponsored by the TV show Ultimate Muscle or something, and is a guy who has never fought MMA before, but is the All-Japan wrestling champion 7 years in a row, so had some credible skills. Just couldn't take a Bob Sapp haymaker.

I don't think Arlovski will get demolished the same way Sylvia did, but he has no chance against Fedor. Freddie Roach said that if Arlovski defeats Fedor, his next fight will be Valeuv for the HW boxing title (assuming nothing comes of the investigation into fight fixing against Hollyfield). He is a pretty defeatable champion if you were going to try, but I think that sounds like a ridiculous idea. 0-0-0 v 50-1-1 for a title? Can't see it. Shame he won't get past Fedor anyway.

That event up there was redic, has anyone else seen it yet?

Overeem beats Badr Hari in K-1!

Mark Hunt gets knocked out! By a middleweight! WHAT?! Probably even a bigger shock than Nog getting KO'd!

Shinya Aoki easily defeats Eddie Alvarez via butt-scoot across the ring, lol

Nakamura shows excellent transitions on the ground once again, capping off a great year (7-0-0 in 2008)

Great event.

K1 used to have this French guy who did these insane flying kicks. He was a loony like.

Can't think of who you mean, the most famous French K-1 fighter that comes to mind is Jerome Le Banner but he doesn't really do flying kicks. Are you thinking of Remy "The Flying Gentleman" Bonjansky (from Holland)? He's still there

I've got it sat on my hard drive but havent watched it yet. I've seen the fights I wanted to from it on youtube\online videos. Might give it a watch later. Shame HDNet deal fell through so its Japanese commentry only.

Roided up Overeem smashing the smirk off Badr's face was my highlight. Badr Hari is a total dickhead and I hope they go through with the MMA fight that had been planned. That will go well for Hari...

Mark Hunt getting ko'd was a shocker too. With the Nog fight then this whats with the indestructible chins of MMA falling apart lately ?

I think Arlovski could well win this match, the last UFC show was a perfect example of it only taking a single punch to finish. Arlovski is a far different prospect than the last few fights he has had. He hasn't fought anybody as quick as Arlovski in at least 6 fights and the majority of those have been big heavyweights, either past their best or not that great anyway. I'm hoping it's an awesome fight, but who knows!

Arlovski has a chance. He can be top fighter on a good day. On a bad day though he can be gun shy, out worked and has a questionable chin against elite heavys. He needs a lucky shot to bomb Fedor out of there and its alot to ask.

I do think though this will end up on the ground with Arlovski on his back in guard getting smashed by Fedors GnP.

9 Satoru Kitaoka def Takanori Gomi Submission (Achilles Lock) 1 1:41

Fights are making their way here: http://freemma.110mb.com/other/Sengoku6/

The ones in bold are highly shocking... sad to see Gomi go down to another 'unknown' (at least in top 10 terms) but Kitaoka looked outstanding in the tournament, so can't complain really. He's like Shinya Aoki mixed with Sean Sherk or something.. just needs to work on some striking to round off his game and I think he'll be pretty top-notch looking at some of his previous wins, and the fact that he's still around the 28-29 mark

Heads Up MMA: M1 Challenge on Bravo 2 10PM tomorrow night

Virgin Media: 138 - Sky: 153

Never seen it before but it's supposed to be quite good! ;)

Great series, I've been watching it online for a while now. The only draw back with the one they show on HDNet (I assume it's just the same program ported over) is that they don't show the whole fight - they'll just start in the second round or something. You still get to see some pretty enjoyable fights though. Can't wait for the next season, as there's going to be a UK Team!

I Literally can't stop speaking about MMA, and I'll probably just ramble on about it in this thread forever, so instead I'll just post all my bookmarks and it should let everyone get a chance to read about it or see some videos (there are a few good video resources there) hope that's within the rules.

I'd love to, but tickets are up to about 200 blips on ebay now. Did you get a ticket?

Yep, the cheap seats, looking forward to seeing the new O2, 6 quid a beer I heard though and a designated drinking area?! Fuck that.

Heading off to this in a bit, here's my picks.

Franklin vs. Henderson

Both fighters are coming off Anderson Silva whuppins, but I'll go with Franklin by an arm-bar or a rear naked choke, Henderson's only chance will be his big right hand.

Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio Rua

Coleman was sh1t back in the day, now he's sh1t and old, unless he gets lucky.

Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang

Don't know much about either of these, I'll go with the Canadian.

Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle

I'll agree this will be fight of the night. Could be anyone's, both like to stand and bang and both are great fighters. Davis has the momentum at the moment. Lytle is more rounded but I'd give the advantage to Davis in the stand-up.

Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares

I'll go with the vet Horn, by submission.

Martin Kampmann vs. Alexandre Barros

Barros looks good but a UFC debut could mean stage fright.

Dunno about any of the rest.
