Any fans of the Zeal series from Triangle Service? Recently playthrough of XII STAG or XIIZEAL as it's now known, on the PS2, granted the Xbox 360 and PC versions are better. It still a solid title and I always enjoyed the branch route system the games used. The whole Zeal series is now on steam if you haven't played them before: https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=TRIANGLE SERVICE I think I prefer DELTAZEAL and XIIZeal over Trizeal and EXZEAL. Far from a perfect run as it's been ages since I played it, but I've been enjoy it quite a bit.

Sorry man, no shmups at all on gamepass as far as I know, and it's pretty slim pickings on the xbone in general.
Do you have a PC or any other consoles?

Decent games you can buy on xbox would be dangun feveron, space moth lunar, natsuki chronicles, star hunter dx, teslapunk, bullet soul infinite burst, guwange, battle garegga, ghost blade hd.

There's probably a few new ones I'm missing, hopefully someone here who plays on xbox can offer some more titles.

That's the score competition finished.

Third place. I'll tek it. Managed to get over 1,300,000, which was my final goal, so I'm more than happy with that.
Some amazing scores posted towards the end there!
So much fun.

More xbox recommendations - deathsmiles, triggerheart exelica. That capcom collection thing has progear, gigawing, and a load more oldschool ones too.

i need to check if the galaga legions dx games are backwards compatible, they were good but not standard shmups… apparently at least one of them is bc.

edit- beaten to triggerheart but yeah can confirm its backward compatible, ive played it on the latest xbox.

For Xbox shmups, it’s worth keeping an eye out on CDKeys and Gamivo for Battle Garegga and Dangun Feveron. I got Argentinian keys for around £8 and £24 respectively, although you’ll need a VPN with an Argentina IP and a USA Xbox account so you can claim them (they’re not available on the European servers).

Guwange is regularly on sale for a mere £3 in the Uk store.

The Xbox One doesn't have that many shmups supported via back catalogue from the Xbox 360, which is a real shame. Most of the arcade shooters on 360 just aren't supported sadly here a quickly list, may be missing a few. As for games to buy on the Xbox One well there's a lot via the Arcade Archives: http://www.hamster.co.jp/american_hamster/arcadearchives/ Not to mention a lot of other single releases most of the Psikyo games got re-released on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox recently.

Here's the back catalogue of shooter related games on Xbox One:

Aces of the Galaxy (On-rails)
Asteroids & Deluxe
Bullet Soul
Bullet Soul -Infinite Burst-
CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet (Contains some shmups, but all games in this are now in Capcom Stadium 1 & 2)
Centipede & Millipede
Child of Eden

Midway Arcade Origins (Defender 1,2 & Sinistar)
Mutant Storm Empire
Mutant Storm Reloaded
Omega Five
Panzer Dragoon Orta
R-Type Dimensions
Radiant Silvergun
Raiden IV
Shred Nebula
Sine Mora
Space Giraffe
Space Invaders: IG (Infinity Gene)
Time Pilot

Triggerheart Exelica

Full list is here:

I'll be putting in a bit of time to Deathsmiles Black Label to try and pick up the 1cc I never quite managed when I first started playing it

So this has kind of gone with a whimper since I've been extremely busy, and only had time for a couple of sessions. To add to that they've all been absolute disasters both progression and score-wise meaning there's really been nothing to post about, though they've helped solidify the route I'm taking through the game, roughly when to power up, etc. And then, this morning with a slight hangover and all the distractions in the world:

It is pretty amusing that I only got the second extend with the points from the final boss, but I've finally shaken the albatross and can now really start pissing around with the game rather than being laser-focused on the Black Label 1CC.

The above score is basically a very vanilla run through; no extra stages (just the mandatory six and Hades' Castle), no effort to try and kill enemies with the "correct" shot type, no Power Up Bomb Cancels, etc; just a straight survival run with a good streak of Not Getting Hit in the middle. Getting through Volcano 3 and all of Hades' Castle without taking a hit does wonders for your score.

I play better hungover, and I have no idea why.

Terra Flame had some teething troubles, you could use external autofire to output extra damage, and also make the charge gauge tick down slower, but terarin was really quick with the updates.
Everything's working great now.
Folk are having a friendly score competition on the shmupjunkie discord if you fancy joining in.

Here's my best run so far.

Yeah. I only ever 1cc'ed it once because after that I was pushing so hard for score that I never did see the end again. Really fun to play, though I never did 100% convince myself that I was doing everything right, though I was getting lots of big golden things flying around so I must have at least on the right track.

Love how the bosses will just rip a hole in time and send a huge steam train flying at you.

This new "TAKEx0FF"" team seem to know what they're doing.
Hopefully the input lag is pretty much none existent like their deathsmiles port.

Mecha Ritz price will be rising after the 2.0 update, so if you're a bit hard up, buy it now and then you get the update for free - https://store.steampowered.com/app/463070/Mecha_Ritz_Steel_Rondo/

Coming November 3rd

"Dear Everyone,

We'd first like to thank all of HEY's fans for supporting them over these years. We are pleased to announce the release of Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo 2.0 coming out November 3rd! We've put a lot of work into polishing this release for both PC and Console release. To be quite honest it was a lot more work and unfortunately took a lot longer than expected.

The original Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo release on PC came out over 6 years ago now. Unfortunately with these additional development costs being more than expected, we have decided to raise the price point of the PC version to match our console releases.

To be completely clear, this change will only affect future purchases. That said, everyone who already owns the game will be getting all of these new updates for FREE! So more than likely if you are reading this there's no need to worry. Until then of course feel free to spread the word to all your friends! We really hope you will enjoy a lot of the new changes/fixes/updates on which we consider the "definitive" (at least latest) edition of Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo!

Hanaji Games"
