SM47
That's a shame, suppose I'll get used to it though.
ZOK
I fired this up t'other night. What's up with the voices? They all speak too fast. Also, can you spot things with the telescope without having the map up? It makes it difficult to look about if you know what I mean. People have to speak fast out that way...death comes suddenly and unexpectedly. Anyway, get a sniper rifle and forget the telescope.
Timmo
Spotting is almost entirely useless anyway. 99% of the time I just went up to the supplies.

Dotterel
I'm lucky enough not to have had any bugs, but as a matter of course I have anywhere up to ten save slots on the go...it's just habit really. I do it with any game that allows multiple saves. Surely you've een burned with a game before, Dandelo? You've been around the block. Yeah, course. Not in a while though. Dunno what I was thinking. I think it was because it was attempting to create a new save slot every time I saved I just thought "thats a bit much." I seem to be lying anyway, it would appear that while a little tipsy last night I saved in a second slot so I've got 2 save games. I can go back to an earlier one. I'm only going to lose THREE FUCKING HOURS of play. Sigh. I'll leave it til tomorrow and see how I feel. If I do go on I've now got the fear that it could happen again. Not what you want from a sandbox game. I tell you this though, if I go back and something like this does happen again. There's going to be big trouble. I tell you that. ZOK
Look on the bright side, you get to live in FC2's world even longer! I think that's why I play it really - it feels like a really violent sunny holiday. The missions are just a cherry on the top.
Joyrex-J9
Play the 360 version which doesn't have quicksaves you big bunch of pansies.
Raane
i use quicksaves like i use saves. I can't be bothered with the whole save interface, just when i see a little save carton i hit the quicksave button. Otherwise i actually just forget to save. I just keep comparing it to Crysis in my head and wishing it'd been a combination of both their best bits. Farcry has a superb landscape, really nice soundscape, cool missions and the open world element. Farcry had the enemy spotting/radar thing down so well. Scope out a base and tag the enemies so you can keep track of them on minimap and make a proper surgical attack. It seems half the time all i do is cruise up in an attack jeep, switch seats and let rip until i don't hear any scared mutterings in afrikaans. Or just bomb the place with my ninja grenade launcher. Farcry has explosions... this is good. The AI was a bit better in crysis too (for reasons i've said). (i also miss the nano suit but that's because it was all flavour of awesome)
ManInJapan
Whats up with the other drivers? They deliberately hit you and they can shoot you whilst driving from normal cars, yet I can't seem to shot them back?!
K
This seems awesome, but I’ve found quite a few bugs. On one, the guards near a safehouse didn’t spawn, so I couldn’t save my game – which made my subsequent death incredibly annoying. On another, I got a mission from the priest to deliver some travel papers to a vet in return for some medicine. I made my way up river, killed off the dozens of vicious bastards who were guarding his house, and then couldn’t complete the mission as the door to the vet’s house wouldn’t open. At that point, I had two missions active at the same time – a buddy mission and an underground mission. Could that be why it wouldn’t let me do the underground mission, or is it just a bug? Also, I’ve run out of malaria pills – what happens if I have an attack of the collywobbles? P.S. Is there any way of getting one of my buddies to man the turret in a jeep? I've never seen a driver shoot from a car, personally, and you can shoot them through the window whilst they drive - even with a dart gun, which is nice. I've had that bug with the safehouse once I think, although generally when I've thought there was no-one else, they're just in hiding or have ranged a bit far from the safehouse - a few shots in the air or a molotov usually brings them out. No idea about the vet's house, although I'd wager it's the same as above. You just have to wait for your fit to subside if you've got no pills I believe. Have fun! Also, your buddies can't man turrets, the useless sods.

blackplastic
Okay, I got this for Christmas and am enjoying it (I think) but I just spend soooo much time driver from A to B, getting stopped, having a gun fight, trying to find a diamond which seems to be hidden 6 ft into a huge slab of rock etc. I've probably only done about four missions so far and have played for hours which makes me think that either: 1) there aren't many missions or 2) I'll be playing this for ever and eventually get tired of always getting jumped by fools looking for a bullet head-dress. Thoughts?

Joyrex-J9
1) there aren't many missions There are loads and loads of missions, well over 50 I'd guess if you add up all the faction missions, underground missions, arms dealer missions and cell-tower missions It took me about 30 hours to complete this and I probably only did about 70% of the missions

It's just odd for a shooter to have this kind of slow pace. I really think Far Cry 2 feels more like a real-time RPG than an FPS.
Jam_sponge
Aye, it's bloody massive - to the extent that it's irritating me to be honest... I must have put about 10 hours into it already, and i've hardly done anything at all... It's still awesome, like - I think i'd just prefer it to have a bit more pace. Cosmic_Guru
It's a strange one in some respects. I mean it starts really slowly and your tactics are extremely limited but unlock your weapon set of choice and it's a different ball game. Now (about 20% in) I take every opportunity to use the river to travel to distant parts - at top speed it is rare to be chased and you can avoid a ton of checkpoints that way. I have also given up on the buddy add ons to missions since they just seem to slow down the pace too much - adding up to 3 journeys each time. My first buddy - some French chick - just gave up the ghost even after I shot her up with 2 or 3 syringes and got to her quickly, so that's it for them. It's got that Far Cry mechanic though of enemies apparently spawning from nowhere if you make a racket but limited in number if you take them down silently. I wish there was more wildlife though - the soundtrack is there but not the reality. Found one paraglider so far
misterSquare
Found one paraglider so far Gliders are ace, but bloody tricky to actually fly a reasonable distance in one. larrydavidsanger
I'm quite enjoying the multiplayer in this, the first game I've played in a while that I've actually done well as a sniper
scissorkicks
They didn't want to make killing defenseless animals satisfying to players. So rumour now has it they're putting a patch in to add murderous crocodiles, tigers and hippos to fuck with your shit. Tigers in Africa? Hm.
Roboplegic Wrongcock
Though i do enjoy the long journeys sometimes i'm just not in the mood, so i've found the buses very helpful for skipping areas that i can't be bothered to fight through again. Roboplegic Wrongcock
Things that do annoy me about this game, are the rocks that you can't get on even though their easily jumpable and of course the physic mercenaries. The game would be even better if they didn't know where you were straight away. It would make the battles more satisfying.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. All the bad guys seem like crack shots as well. And their guns never seem to jam up, despite the game telling you that the baddy's guns will jam up, if YOU use them. Stealth is a mixed bag- things like the stealth suit thingy and the dart gun do help, but I tend to take distance over stealth for avoiding huge firefights and leaving me in control. A good sniper and some shots can do quite a bit of damage to them before they can to you.

Nothing like a good elevated position though for a headshot with the good sniper rifle. 50% done now in main mission terms.
hughes
The stealth is very temperamental in this. If you manage to sneak up on someone and get out your machete for a silent kill, sometimes it's as if the noise of you swinging your machete alerts the guard and they turn round and shoot you. Also if they don't turn round a sneak machete attack isn't a one hit kill, which I really hate.
Spacehost
Machete? Fuck that, dart gun, silenced MP5 and pistol all the way. Poor sods thought the Predator was after them by the end of the game.
hughes
That was my 3 firearms of choice too, but there were several instances in the game where I was about 8 feet away from someone and I couldn't resist. I just wish it was more powerful.
