scissorkicks
I've barely started the game. I'm on a mission where I have to blow up a fuel station. I've blown up everything there is to blow up, even gone so far as killing all the blokes in the nearby faction area. But it says I haven't completed the mission. Is this what we mean when we talk about bugs in this game?
Garibaldi
The stealth is very temperamental in this. If you manage to sneak up on someone and get out your machete for a silent kill, sometimes it's as if the noise of you swinging your machete alerts the guard and they turn round and shoot you. Also if they don't turn round a sneak machete attack isn't a one hit kill, which I really hate. Even perfect sneak machette kills on the guards often alert other guards, the only stealth weapon I ended up using was the dart rifle. Completed this the other day, a surprisingly mature ending ( even if it did come down to just 'kill another load of guys' no matter which choice you made ), but not a game I want to replay again due to its myriad flaws. In the end FC2 was too big for the repetitive mission structure it harboured, but I am glad I experienced it for quite a few stand-out moments, here's really, really, hoping that Ubisoft are listening to the critiques for any future sequels. Roboplegic Wrongcock
I was just watching this video how come the voices in the retail game are not at this speed? edit just watching some more of the videos that Ubi released has anyone had the enemies act like this in the retail game. Decieving the Enemy video
ZOK
Yes. I presume you're talking about wounding rather than killing with the sniper rifle? There's a safe house on the second map that looks across a valley towards a sweet checkpoint with loads of gas tanks, and I keep it as a standalone save so that whenever I want I can load it up and play merry hell with the guards from my supreme vantage point in exactly that fashion. simms
Is there no way to see how much tablets I have left. So annoying knowing that I could run out but not know until it happens. What happens anyway if you run out?
ZOK
An underground mission will become available on the map when you're about to run out of tablets. The icon is the black clenched fist.

ZOK
I've had my first annoyances with this game now, the same issue with two different missions, namely destroying the water pipeline and destroying a suitcase full of passports in the tourist village for Bei/Xei whatever he's called. Both of these missions should be completable by destroying them at a distance with a Carl Gustav shell, for example, and yet neither is. You can visibly destroy both things, but to complete the mission you have to go in and do it by hand. This ruins the sandbox feel of the game, and is really jarring I guess for me to notice it for the first time in the game. I'm sure something similar must have happened before, but it was better disguised. Oh well, I still love it. Here's a question though, what the hell is the thing that fires exploding barrels at you when you're in range of the brewery? I've searched high and low and I can't find anything, I can't even get a clue as to where it's firing from, but it plays merry hell with my boating expeditions. simms
I'm about 30% in and have yet to use ones of these special crates. I bought one of them but not sure I see what the point of them is I would just go to a weapons shop if I want to change weapon or just improvise with the enemy's manky weapons until I get my reliable ones at a weapons shop. Timmo
They're not massively important. It was nice to have them towards the end so I could switch between the sniper and silenced mp5 when not near a gun store. One thing I felt the game was missing was a bit of info about the mission ahead. Typically I'd always turn up with the wrong weapon. A shotgun for a mission with a few huts in the middle of a crater, and a sniper rifle for a mini town with lots of cover.
simms
Oh okay thanks. Travelling in a vechicle is so boring I wish they added more to the driving physics, the handbrake hardly does anything and it'll be nice to wheelspin and skid around the African bush with the cars or at least by an upgrade which meant they could get to that stage. EDIT: The beach buggy is half exciting though but holy shit I've accessed the southern map this game is huge
ZOK
It's a rip that it wasn't included in the first place, but the DLC was worth it for me because it added the Unimog and Quad Bike. Both are better than any other vehicle in the game. Also, I've noticed that the explosive crossbow is my favourite special wep, according to the statistics page. It's rocking. simms
Sily question time. If I downloaded the extra content now would are they available straight away (I'm 31% in)?
Timmo
Yeah and you don't have to buy them in-game either. Centre of each armoury. The guns I mean. The vehicles are littered around. Bit of a waste of money for me. The shotguns aren't quite powerful enough.
Vulgar Monkey
I'd have thought having them available from the start would be a touch unbalancing? One thing I've noticed from the first few hours of this game is the shitty disposable weaponry you're forced to use. Quite a few times I've found myself crapping my pants while dashing through the undergrowth, sliding down hills into rivers, because of a jam. Having said that, the stealth does seem to work ok for the most part. I just took out the commandos supply dump, and was able to weave between shacks fairly well to get the drop on them. I even got there in the first place by sneaking into a checkpoint and stealing their ride.
ibk11
I've hit what I think is a game-breaking bug. On that UFLL mission in act 2 where I have to blow up some kiln in Dagon Village, the kiln isn't where it is supposed to be. I've even loaded up my save again and played through the whole mission again, fought my way to the same place, and it isn't there. Anyone else had this? misterSquare
Where exactly are you looking? You go up into the cliffs and end up in a red cave-y area containing some ruined huts overlooking the village below - the kiln is in a little alcove at the back, slightly separated from the huts. I think you have to go up a small flight of steps to get there.

There's a respawing soldier with a mortar on a small, elliptical island to the righthand side (if you're approaching the brewery by river from Mosate Selao) of the cliff-edge of the spit that the brewery is on. If you bail overboard before you round that corner you ought to be able to stay out of his line of sight, creep along the edge of the rocky outcrop on the right and use your dart rifle to take him out and leave nobody in the brewery any the wiser. In the event that he spots you and starts firing, watch the arc of the yellow smoke shells to figure out where he's hiding.

I'm not at any missions that take place in the brewery yet, I've just been using it as a way point between the tourist village and the marina. fatoy.japa
I had the same trouble, it's only through practice that I learned where he was. Just in case anyone hits this bug - the item in question did finally appear for me on my fourth play through of the mission. Between this and some of the crashing, FC2 is badly in need of a patch. Mr Do 71
There's a respawing soldier with a mortar on.. Man they're annoying, at least on the first play through. But not on the second time though. Now I get the fuckers first

hoot
Does it matter if one of your buddies die? Just finished one of the very early missions only to find him (presumably scripted) laying injured by his car, unfortunately I don't have any syringes on me to save him and if I go back up the road a few hundred meters to get some, the whole car crash has vanished :/

There are no scripted parts where a buddy dies like that (well there kinda is when everyone gets killed at Mikes Bar but that's different ) I didn't lose a single buddy on my playthrough
Cosmic_Guru
Is there no way to see how much tablets I have left. So annoying knowing that I could run out but not know until it happens. What happens anyway if you run out? You have another couple of attacks which pass quite quickly and finally pass out to find yourself back in the church in the main city. This is a good point - there are some sweet locations for sniping (the barge one being the best so far I think) and flat villages and installations where the sniper is less effective. If it is dry scrub I launch all my Molotovs around to create mass panic and confusion (the diamond mine was great for this). It doesn't matter you will find others I think. There are no scripted parts where a buddy dies like that (well there kinda is when everyone gets killed at Mikes Bar but that's different ) I didn't lose a single buddy on my playthrough I think my buddy loss was scripted - there was nothing I could do to save her (I had syringes and went to her location quickly). Basically I am now ignoring them totally. Getting toward the end now I think. A pity I feel totally indifferent to all the factions and characters. All I want to do is set up interesting conflagrations from good positions for the main missions and otherwise avoid conflict in moving around by skulking through the bush, swimming, using short cuts etc.
Garwoofoo
A pity I feel totally indifferent to all the factions and characters. By the end I'd completely lost track of who anybody was, what faction they worked for and what their goals were. Partly I think that's deliberate as they're meant to be a bunch of interchangeable scumbags, and the final stages of the game make it pretty clear that you're on your own out there. hoot
Thanks for the replies, next question, am I basically kill on sight to just about everyone? I'm always getting shot at by the guard post people and then just other random folk along the roads, I'm never sure if it's something I've done or if it's just down the story (which I'm already clueless about) why everyone hates me. ZOK
Yeah, it's kill or be killed, whenever you're armed. Except in the cesae-fire zones, Pala and the other big town.
